I made my reservation because they had advertised a special event "2020 New Decade: James Bond 007 Soirée" featuring live entertainment, Bond themed menus, etc. Unfortunately, for my wife and I, who had come dressed for the occasion, there was no such special event. No live entertainment. No "James Bond" anything going on. Luckily my wife is a trooper and we took it in stride, despite the disappointing false advertisement of the special event, and the foggy night that rendered the famous 360º views obsolete, we still had a good time together. My only regret is that we could have spent that hefty bill of $400 at another venue that was indeed hosting a special event.

Overall: Food was decent. Service was fantastic. Ambiance was nice, but the views were disappointing (obviously the foggy weather is not the fault of the restaurant, but this experience taught me this is something I'd definitely need to take into account if I ever patronize a place that has "views" as their main selling point.) It's expensive, but this is to be expected at a place like Cité. My only suggestion is to make sure your booking sites are up-to-date with what is actually occurring with your event's schedule. James Bond night is why we went there. We got no Bond, yet you still got my $400.

Made reservations for my husbands birthday dinner. Unfortunately we got a foggy day but our request for window seating was honored. I would say the food is really not that great and super over priced. If you are planning to go I would suggest looking at the menu beforehand so you know what to order. I wouldn’t order anything from
The appetizer section they don’t have too many options if anything I would get a salad and the main course. The dessert is pretty good too. Get ready to spend a pretty penny!

This was by far the worst NYE experience. My fiancé hasn’t been able to celebrate NYE is 10 years due to her working in the food and beverage industry and usually has to work. She was finally off and we were able to finally celebrate together. We bought last minute tickets for $250 each for a 6 course meal.y fiancé is pregnant and the food needed to be prepared a certain way which we specified in the beginning. They brought the soup out which was cold but we decided to eat it anyways. Next was the duck that we said needed to be well done for her. They brought it out medium rare so we sent it back to be re cooked. They left my duck and we waited about 10-15 min for her new one to come out. I waited to eat mine and by the time hers came out mine was cold and never offered to give me a new one or take it when they took hers. Next was our steaks. Hers came out rare. Again we sent it back. They took the same meat and cooked it longer which took another 10-15 min longer. It still was medium rare when she got it. They also didn’t offer to bring me a new one as I waited for hers to come out do we weren’t eating alone. Last was our dessert. We order a crème brûlée and a cheese cake. They brought out a fondue. So we had to send that back and wait for the correct dessert. All in all we couldn’t enjoy our time together because we were continuously complaining and sending things back. Not once did a manager come to talk to us. I called a couple days later to explain the situation and the lady manager I spoke with said she would help us out and talk to the owner. I never received a call back and called again. They said they needed more time and said they probably wouldn’t be able to do anything and that she still wasn’t able to talk to the owner. I have been trying to call a few times a week and now they are ignoring my calls. Their customer service especially from a management stand point as been very unprofessional.

All in all, a great place to have spent New Year's Eve. Our only complaint was that the first three courses seemed too hurried and when we mentioned it to the captain he slowed it down. Food was really delish, view was amazing, cocktail and wine list excellent. Pro tip - if you do the late seating on New Year's Eve, the Navy Pier fireworks and related street closings mean you can't order a taxi or ride share to pick you up until 2am so be prepared to walk a few blocks to get a ride. Next time I'll drive and park in the building.

This is the second time we dined here in the last 2 weeks. Both times the service was mediocre. Came back to have the three cheese tortellini again, when we asked if it was still available, the server forgot to ask and didn’t come back to let us know. We asked another server and unfortunately they didn’t have it so we tried the filet, which was good. Overall the views were the best part.

Dinner is ok. Not above average. The view is great but we did not got a window seating. Even though we asked and there were a few available. Also the confusion of your app saying that payment was done within reservation and they charged us onsite.

I made our Xmas Eve res about 2 months in advance when there were tons of time slots available. I called to reconfirm 4 days prior. They called me 15 mins before my res time to reconfirm again. I told then we were valet parking and would be up in a couple mins. We arrived early. When we checked in they looked at us like they didn’t know who we were. They they went to check to see if they had a table. Then they seated us in the banquet area which had only one table filled. We both had to change chairs 3 times to find a chair at the other open tables that didn’t feel like you were sitting on a toilet with a hole under you. The service was absolutely horrible. The servers concentrated all their efforts and time in the main dining room. I would never go back on a holiday. We overlooked Navy Pier which was closed for the evening so there were no lights or any ambience. I’ve dined at Cite many times and even had private affairs there, which is how I knew we were seated in the banquet room. It was extremely disappointing. My filet was delicious but my sisters salmon was overcooked and dried out. No one ever came back to check on us and we even had to flag another server to try to get a second drink. So it doesn’t pay to book here in advance because you certainly don’t get any priority or credit for it. Very disappointed and will not go back. And we have been dining downtown on Xmas Eve for the last 20 years. They treated us like we didn’t exist, starting from the reception desk all the way down the line.

We have not been to Cite in a while. This visit was disappointing. It took our server 25 minutes to come to us after we were seated. I don't think this was our server's fault - seems like there was confusion on which server was covering which table. The fixed price menu was almost comical in its presentation. Mixed fonts, dinner option letters were bigger/bolded while main headings are not. This is very minor of course but for the price point of this restaurant, this lack of attention to detail is not acceptable. The food itself was good and the service, once they got to us, was also good. Then there was the roving photographer who wanted to take your pic with her dSLR. She then comes back to see if you want to pay for the picture she printed. This was so weird to see for an upscale restaurant and it made the overall experience feel even cheaper. Not recommended.

The service was poor. It took 20-30 minutes for us to get our drinks delivered. We didn’t receive our first drink order until just before the third course had been served.

Beautiful venue, and we both enjoyed the food, but it seemed that none of the service staff came from a fine-dining background.

Extremely disappointing all the way around. In attentive service, poor table placement even though other tables were available that had a view versus looking over a dark hole on the lake side of the building. The duck was horribly tough, my daughters hamburgers were not made to order and it seemed the waiter was not paying attention to what we wanted specifically. We waited forever for our entrées. An incredibly disappointing experience for an $800 night for six people, one of whom was a child.

This could have been better... we wouldn’t mind the price if the service and food would have been better... truly not up to par with other restaurants that charge this amount for dinner. I was very disappointed as we were celebrating our 17th anniversary... our first year in Illinois... we often splurge on dinners out - this will never be a place we go to again. Food was bland and seemed that it had been cooked a hours prior. The food was lukewarm when it was served to us... a definite let down

I would recommend this based on the view and the steaks. The other meals were not the best. The service was the real problem this time. For this tier of restaurant I really expected better. The waiter failed to take drink order from 5 of the people in our party of 7. The staff started clearing the plates before people were done eating. The meals were not given to the proper people who ordered them. We had to shuffle them around. In addition to this there was a photographer who was quite obnoxious. There was very little thought given to the fact that we were having a dinner there. It seemed like all these processes were going on without a thought to the fact that there were humans dining there. It was truly disappointing. I hate to give this review, but this is what happened.

This is a beautiful spot that I had never heard of until recently. I don't quite understand it. It is a week before Christmas and the place is an amazing location and there was virtually no one in there. I have lived in Chicago for 40 years and never heard of it until recently. When did it open and why don't they advertise, etc. ? Also, they confirmed my reservation a few days before and then called me 20 minutes before I was due there to make sure I was coming. Then I got there and there were about 3 people in the entire place. Why were they so anxious about my reservation?. Not like anyone else was waiting for the table. There were more waitstaff then guests. It even had live music. I would definitely go back, especially to just hear the music and get a drink. Hope they will still be there 6 months from now.

The ambiance is nice. And they definitely have the best views in the City. But the food is not very good. I ordered the lobster bisque which was very oily and had no flavor. And there were only 4 little pieces of lobster chunks in the entire bowl of soup. The scallops were good and were grilled to perfection. But the risotto that came with it was very bland and had no flavor. It's almost as if they don't use any seasoning when they cook. I had a couple of glasses of the house Merlot which was very good. This is my second time here and I didn't like the food the first time either. It was very bland and had no flavor. I had crème brulee for dessert. That was very good!

Overall a good experience. Food was great! Ambiance on point. The only 2 observations that might be improved were that my severs (multiple people) repeatedly kept trying to remove my dinner plate from the table when I was clearly still working on it. At one point one of them reached out and was trying to remove it as he was asking me if I was done. When he realized that I was still working on my plate he apologized and said “of course you’re still working on it as it’s almost half full plate” and he left hastily with a bit of shame. However, my girlfriend’s plate was empty and she was done, but he didn’t even ask her. It’s like she wasn’t even there. No acknowledgement for her at all. I thought it was odd. The other observation was the pornographer who approached us to get a picture taken and to buy the picture from her. We politely declined and said that perhaps later in the venting we would let her know. She came back later in the evening and we just declined again at all. It was our anniversary dinner and I gave some jewelry to my girlfriend. However, as I began to put the jewelry around her neck, the photographer walked by and jumped in exclaiming, “did I miss something?!” And proceeded to take pictures of us. We were caught off guard, but we played along and ultimately bought a picture from her. This is not a complain at all. However, maybe another night we might have taken her insistence differently and she might have ruined what was to us an intimate moment. All in all it was a good experience just need to improve being aware of your customer’s space and privacy. Great music and the chef came by to say hi. Would recommend the place.

Come for the view - not for the food 😉
After dining at several other high elevation restaurants, I’ve picked Cité. Location is great - Marine Tower is the only high rise downtown Chicago locates between the lake and the Lake Sore Drive, thus giving you a great view of the lake AND the Chicago downtown from the 70th floor. Garage parking (with a discount validation at the restaurant) is located on the north side of the building. It takes two elevator rides to reach the restaurant, with an option for coat check at the transfer point on the 68th floor.
You exit from the elevator right onto a maitre ‘d desk - rather tight quarters. Ambiance is on a darker side - brass and dark wood, but rather worn out than noble.
Service is prompt and adequate, but once again - you can not be a professional server after a crash course in being a waiter. Presentation was average.
French soup was too sour.
My filet mignon was properly cooked, yet the carrot and potato garnish was tired, as if being reheated for the ok last two days.
The view, on the other hand was nothing short of simply spectacular. If you have a fear of height - most certainly not an enjoyable place to dine.
