Lovely meal again I had the market special of beef with roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding and veg, it was delicious. Great atmosphere and nice surroundings.
Food was lovely ! Staff very efficient and pleasant
Visited this restaurant on a number of occasions. Lovely surroundings, friendly staff and good food. Although the special menu is normally limited we felt this time even more so. If you were not prepared to pay a supplement then there was next to no choice.
Not sure that we would return.
2nd visit and not last. Busier than the last one on a Sunday but still good
Lovely restaurant and a nice ambiance even although the restaurant was quite quiet at the time of our visit.
The staff were friendly and the service was efficient.
Downside was that portions are quite small and some dishes have "extra"price supplements which I believed to be overpriced for the portion size received.
Although the food we had was nice.
Our meal deal included a bottle of "house" wine. This wine was not very palatable so I left most of the bottle! On their wine menu this bottle of wine cost £17.50. I think this is very overpriced for the quality of the wine.
On the whole we had a pleasant experience (apart from the wine).
Staff were friendly and knowledgable. Lovely eveing
Food choice was very minimal and poor choice. Fish, pork links , or chicken that was it. Soup was just warm, which we told them about. We had been here before and it was far better than it was this time around.
Enjoyed a lovely lunch with my friend, food and service were very good. Will go back for sure.
Food wasn't great. Sea bass overpriced and didn't have all the ingredients listed. Kids food not edible.
We had a delicious meal, the staff were very friendly and attentive. The decor is beautiful and very comfortable to dine in. The music was just right, we would recommend a visit.
Booked through itison, so very good value. Set menu was limited, but food quality high. Service was efficient and professional. Biggest issue was cramped table for two (against wall with curtain divider behind one seat) - very unappealing. There were other table options available, but maybe not for voucher customers!
I would normally recommend Citation as we go there quite often but both my husband and I
were disappointed this time. We both chose chicken as our mains. It came on a bed of
mushrooms floating in a gallon of gravy. We ordered bread to mop up some of it.
Then best thing about this offer was the bottle of wine.
We will give Citation a miss for a while.
I have been to Citation Restaurant wuite a few times and it's been great, very good value, but when i went on Sunday i was surprised that the prawn cocktail in the starter had a £3.50 supplement which i thought was a bit much, as ut was small. I know to expect a supplement if you want a steak in the mains. I wasn't as happy this time .
Lovely Sunday lunch and sharing platter on an Itison deal. Prosecco and anti pasta sharing board in the bar downstairs, then roast beef cooked to perfection with all the trimmings in the restaurant upstairs! What a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon! Fantastic value for money!
Slow service ,sides charges over priced potatoes should be included in price of dinner
Good location, Lovely food and friendly efficient staff. Will definitely go book
My husband and I have visited Citation many times, and this was the first time we have been disappointed!
Both starters were good, my husband had the onion and chilli soup, I opted for the mozzarella salad. Both main courses were very disappointing. Husband chose chicken breast which was very small and served with far too much jus, I had the beef Bourguignon, two pieces of beef six new potatoes and vegetables ( this was the stew) served with mashed potatoes, and absolutely swimming in gravy !
The wine included in our deal was Italian 11% and not very good, I checked the wine list and they are charging £17 for this.
I did complain, and was told my comments would be passed on to the chef.
Citation was very quiet for a Friday afternoon.
We won't be back until the menu changes including the wine in their deals !
Delicious meal in beautiful surroundings. An all round lovely evening. Staff very professional and helpful. Looking forward to going back again soon!
Had a really nice lunch in citation.. pleasant efficient service.. food was delicious and great value for money.. we enjoyed background music and ambience was pleasant..
Lovely evening celebrating a friends 60th birthday, just what we needed, both of us had a great time. 1 of many visits.
Greeted by a lovely female member of staff and quickly shown to table. Drinks served almost immediately by a friendly waiter followed by an excellent meal and coffee. Would certainly recommend for excellent food and service.
Great staff very attentive and the food was fab large portions and hot
All four of us had a lovely meal which was slightly tweaked to our liking without any fuss or problem whatsoever. A lovely place staffed by knowledgeable and very pleasant staff. My first time there but will not be my last. Thank you.
I would now never return to the Citation after the last 2 visits and the poor menu choice on the market Menu. I have always rated this restaurant in the past as great value for money but it has really went down hill. When I asked the waiter why the menu had changed and he seemed disinterested and just said it's the chef choice and he made the decisions! Broccoli & Stilton soup is not a good choice on this type of menu especially when there is only 2 choices without paying supplements
What promise may be held in the stately decor of the building is quickly and abruptly dashed by utterly incompetent (if existent) service. 15 minutes for drinks - 40 for a “signature cocktail”, which was eventually comped.
Food was elegant, but bland and uninspired and did in not in any way make up for the disastrous service. We did not have the endurance to even attempt dessert.
An evening at any local pub is a better - and preferred option.
I would think twice about recommending Citation but that's only based on our experience on Saturday night. We were very disappointed in the service we rcieved from our waiter he bordered on being cheeky to us. Gave the impression we were an imposition. This is certainly not the service we are used to in Citation we know you were busy but no excuse for his attitude. Sorry I didn't get his name he was small bit older than the others and receding hairline. I must say the other members of staff were excellent in fact one girl took me down in the lift which I appreciated.
My wife and I have been going to this restaurant for about 10 year. For the past 2 to 3 year its gradually been declining in service and food. Menu used to have a few pages to choose from now only the one and not a great choice. Got the salmon starter which cost £10 pretty pricey for one mouthful. Service was shocking staff didn't seem to know what they were doing if it wasn't for a guy called stevie who was only there to help out service would be non existent. Unfortunately wont be back any time soon.
This was my 2nd time visiting the restaurant using an iris on voucher. Our food was good and well presented, and the wine with our meal was very good. I had also bought the cocktail offer to use with our meal but unfortunately this can only be used between 12-2pm.
Unfortunately I found the service staff to be abrupt and quite rude. We sat on the terrace as it was a lovely day however the service was intermittent at best.
We had a great time. Food was excellent as was all the staff. Would have given this a five star however it was let down by the worst Gaelic coffee I have ever had.
This was my first time in this restaurant and I was pleasantly surprised, everything was good and
I couldn't fault it in any way.I certainly will recommend it to my friends
Enjoyed the food unfortunately didn’t agree with both myself and husband.
WE were using an Itison voucher which we have done before. Usually the food is very good, although the service is usually pretty slow. Unfortunately, the food this time was very poor indeed and the red wine which was part of the deal was almost undrinkable. We were very disappointed and unlikely to return.
Been a few times now, great service, surrounds and food, what more can you ask!
Food was delicious ,lovely atmosphere, staff very friendly and attentive . Definitely enjoyed our meal and will certainly return
been going there for a while and usually cant fault it , however was there in July and the quality of food had changed was Ill afterwards, any how put it down to me not them, was there on Sunday 18th aug and found the menu was totally different, suplimenty costs on prawn cocktail which was much smaller portions . they cut the supplement on the steak to £7 yeah but also cut the steak size and it was full of fat the daily special was roast beef which they had on another special vocher cheap skates I'd have purchased the sunday lunch voucher if I wanted roast beef. They took the fish dish away and put bangers and mash on , Oh and supplemened the sparkling wine by £5 no mention on the voucher as to these changes
I'd have preferred if they just put the cost of the voucher up ,was well worth it at £24 would not mind paying a little extra for the original menu, they've ruined it all to save money poor quality, oh and the bailys Irish whisky were frozen cold, twice! with sour cream yuk , only consolation was the staff are lovely and helpful they wont have a job much longer though if they don't get there act together
Came again to Citation early Sunday evening for a meal before a concert. A great bargain with the 5pm Deal, 2 courses and a bottle of wine for 2 people £25. Food was nice , we both had prawn cocktail followed by dish of the day which was roast beef with trimmings and both dishes were lovely, however prawn cocktail now carries a £3 additional charge as does the cheese board option on tge dessert list. Our bill therefore came to £31. Choices are more limited than previously but still good value. Wonderful service. Staff are really lovely, especially the waiting staff, welcoming, friendly and efficient.
One of out favourite places to go never disappoints
Food was lovely , place is lovely , been a lot of times , but on this particular night service was terrible, let down to your lovely restaurant and bar
Lovely food in a nice atmosphere served by friendly staff.
Never been before....Will be back!! Great value, good food and staff lovely.
