Absolutely the most beautiful setting to celebrate a special event. Food and service were outstanding and yes it is pricey but fir a special dinner it is truly amazing. Loved it!

I have many allergies and was happy to say my requests were followed to a t! Our waiter knew so much about wine and had wonderful suggestions also. The land Circa 1876 is on is also beautiful- and it is a romantic dinner spot I'll be back at for sure!

I was really looking forward to this meal but unfortunately we were let down. First off , the wine recommendations were just okay. The wine should be memorable for $16 a glass. The server suggested a heavy red to go with partridge, which overpowered the dish. I was surprised they didn't have a sommelier.

The food was okay but lacked variety of flavour. The best thing we ate was a tomato crouton amuse-bouche that they brought out. We had 3 dishes that had smoked elements and the smokiness was just too much.

The building is old and unique. The staff were friendly. But I won't be back anytime soon.

The duck pate was a little mousse like and salty. It was a little light might be best advertised as a starter (even if it is a smaller portion) or as a share plate.

The Quail was also abit gamey and strong tasting.

Steak was good.

The $30 wagyu surcharge was a bit unfortunate as we don't usually get charges that.

Dessert was great

The biggest downside was that there were no cocktails on offer.

We had a lovely window spot overlooking the garden. The service was very friendly, informative and efficient. All three courses were absolutely delicious. Loved the soft shell crab, zucchini flowers and tooth fish. The strawberry dessert was to die for. My mum thought the beef was the best she’d had in years. So tender! Would definitely visit again!

The service was fantastic but the food did not live up to expectations. The accompaniments for each dish were either overpowering or so minor to be absent. For the entrees the pesto and orange overpowered the zucchini flowers and there was no crab flavour underneath the chilli jam and wakame. For the mains the beetroot risotto was too salty and the miso taste was absent from the miso flavoured fish. For dessert the Bailey's cheesecake was nice but would have been better if the alcohol had not been cooked off and the strawberries and icecream were passable.

I’m not quite sure how to collectively gather polite and constructive feedback. I have never been so disappointed in a “fine dining” experience before.

Your restaurant website invites patrons to experience the eclectic charm of the building, whilst enjoying a fine meal. So we made a reservation in advance for a special occasion. We arrived and were ushered outside to an empty annex area. Although, there were quite a number of empty tables inside (I’ll just add, that it was clear that you weren’t just trying to comply with COVID safety regulations.) You should really let patrons know when booking, if you’re unable to seat them in the main dining area. Especially, if it is for a special occasion. Or at least offer a discount, as they are paying for the same experience as someone who is seated in the restaurant.

Each course placed in front of me with little to no description. Dessert, compliments of the chef and what I think was a birthday message (a macron had fallen over and smeared the message) all came out at once. Which made the experience feel rushed, unimportant and as though the dishes weren’t designed to be art on plate.

In comparison to my experience at Muse Kitchen a few days later. Their front of house staff were fluent and knowledgeable in the menu, all the way down to the ingredients in the biscuit on my coffee. Although they were extremely busy, I never felt rushed or unimportant. Looking back on my experiences, I feel somewhat shattered that I spent my birthday feeling unimportant at your restaurant. I hope this feedback will do some good and hopefully you’ll treat someone on their special day with more regard.

Absolutely loved this restaurant! The little house at the front is like stepping back in time, opening out onto a big beautiful restaurant.
The food was great. Loved the little extras. Wonderful service too.
It was the highlight of our trip to the Hunter.

The restaurant has been split in to two rooms. Unfortunately for me I was sat in the room that was dark, cold and with no ambiance. Compared to the main dining room which seemingly was warm, well lit and had some background music and the look of a restaurant.

The waiters were all polite but again I felt like we were sat in the back up restaurant so service was not as I would have expected/wanted.

The food was good but not amazing however, my experience could have impacted my opinion.

The location itself is breathtakingly nice so it is a real shame about the rest of my experience.

Dined at Circa 1876 for our wedding anniversary and left disappointed. Being a set menu, none of the courses had the WOW factor & were very basic.
The waitress took 2 glasses of wine off our bill as said her service was “slack”
Certainly wouldn’t dine there again

Just magnificent!! A lovely cosy location with wonderful and attentive service. We had dinner at Circa for my wife's birthday and could not have been happier with the dishes we ordered. A good range of wines is to be expected in the Hunter and Circa did not disappoint.
We would certainly recommend this restaurant.

ATM it is a 3 course set menu. Each course had plenty of variety and choices, with some lovely extras included. Each course was beautifully presented and tasted divine. Staff were all very knowledgeable and pleasant. Worth every cent. A very special meal in a lovely setting.
