    Circa1876 was an amazing dining experience. I went with two of my girlfriends to celebrate a new job, a promotion and a wedding between the three of us. We were well looked after with complimentary dishes from the chef, to really make the experience special. We could not fault the food. There wasn’t one thing that we didn’t enjoy. I would love to dine here again.

    Really poor, I had the kangaroo which tasted how I imagine a myrtle diffuser would. For mains I ordered the pesto risotto which tasted like the Mutti jar pesto from the supermarket. Didn’t even opt to have it as takeaway-and my date didn’t want it either. He ordered the lamb for mains which had been dusted in that orange long life jar Parmesan. He ate most of it. Neither of us ate our desert, I had the chocolate option and he the raspberry concoction. Both were gelatinous and highly processed tasting. Entrees and meals were cold (plates weren’t heated). Food was not at all presented like it was on the website. Palate cleanser was tasty. This was really unfortunate, as I thought it was going to be a real treat.

    An absolute delight, the food was of an exceptional quality and we will definitely be returning. Be aware that the menu is a set menu though the food will not disappoint!!

    We celebrated my daughter's 21 birthday at Circa 1876. Everything was perfect. Food was delicious and sophisticated. Waters were friendly and attentive. Great ambiance. Highly recommend this venue for special occasions.

    SERVICE AND FOOD WERE VERY GOOD. HAVE EATEN AT OTHER FINE DINING ESTABLISHMENTS AND THERE ARE SOME AREAS THAT COULD BE IMPROVED ON. STAFFING WAS INADEQUATE AND DRINK ORDERS WERE FORGOTTEN. WAITRESS WAS APOLOGETIC, BUT A LITTLE FRAZZLED WITH HER WORKLOAD. FOR THESE PRICES EVERYTHING SHOULD BE SPOT ON.

    We were a group of 7 pax and were told we have to order a fixed 3-course menu. The first course of scallop was good. But we were very disappointed with the Angus beef main course. All the beef came out overcooked. We returned 2 of them and it was done correctly but by then, the mood was no longer there.

    Menu looks very enticing and promises a lot. Presentation was good and flavours were plenty. However the number of different flavours resulted in a disappointing result. Perhaps less would have been better. ie Too many different flavours in the protein versus the accompanying vegetables. Service was excellent and friendly

    This is a must to add to your itinerary when planning on a trip to The Hunter Valley. Great value for money. You will not leave hungry. The service was delightful and the added treats from the chef were delicious. Food was both visually and culinarily beautiful. Allow yourself time to explore the venue and the picturesque grounds. 10/10

    The food was amazing with a wide variety of dishes to choose from, very complex flavours and wonderfully executed. The recommended wine pairings complemented these dishes nicely. Lovely atmosphere with lots to take in and enjoy - particularly the lounge room.

    Booked Circa 1876 for a 50th birthday celebration and it lived up to all expectations, still dreaming of the food. Even with torrential rain over the weekend, our long lunch with great service, good company, awesome wines and the most outstanding food options made our weekend memorable. We will be back!

    The food was excellent but the service was poor. They started packing up the tables and setting up for a wedding within minutes of serving us dessert. If they booked a wedding at 2:30pm, they should have served us dessert earlier. Instead, we had people with ladders and decorations walking around us as we finished off. It spoiled the experience.

    Wonderful restaurant, food and service both spectacular. Only negative was that the beautiful fire place wasn’t lit and it was pretty cold inside. Will definitely be back!
