Bright, lively and tropical décor and feel. Delicious, delicate and very tasty food. Attentive wait-staff.
Food was good as always but, service was embarrassing.
Amazing food !
We had to leave as the music was extremely loud. Not a place for dinner on a Saturday night.
Sushi pieces while flavorful, the rice should be firmer and better shaped.
What a great place! the décor is super cool and the food was outstanding....not to mention the drinks!!! we will go again for sure
Great vibe in a very unique place. Went for happy hour and it was quite good. Could have a bit more on the happy hour menu, but that would be my only complaint.
Their great dishes are outstanding and worth every expensive penny! Unfortunately at the prices they list and in the space that they want to play in, not all their dishes lived up to the expectation of excellence. A spicy tuna roll should not be simply a tuna roll to be then dipped in a spicy mayo. Amateur. Other dishes like the slow braised beef and tuna ceviche were worth the price of admission. Cocktails also incredible. Great place, they can do even better.
Compare with several similar options in Miami Beach, some prices are a bit higher.
We order appetizers and plates , everything is coming separate, I order s
Spicy salmon , only one small plate no silver service ; for that and they charge me 22us for one Martini I think that the food is ok nothing especial for the price
IT DOES NOT WORTH THE PRICE AT ALL. As soon as we arrived, we were told that the plates were going to come as soon as they came out from the kitchen; we ordered some entries but we asked the waiter if they had the same policy in regards to the main courses to which she answered a big no. After we finished our entries, each of us ordered a main course with a side. I got my mashed potatoes at first and 20 minutes later my lomo a la parrilla.. so of course the mashed potatos was totally cold by then. We all finished our main courses and one of my friends got his side, half an hour later.. we did not complain by then. We order our first round of caipiroskas, the glasses were 90% ice.. for the second round we asked the waiter to please do them with less ice, which they actually did but apparently they decided to do them very watery instead. The men ordered bears then, and they had to wait for a while each time they order a beer.. With all that said, the food was really good and the place is very nice, but as soon as we received the check we realized that it does not worth the value at all... We would not come back nor recommend the place.
Everything about this restaurant was unique and great (food, staff, ambiance) except the one person who was in charge of our table - Vlad. His table side manner was terrible (at an establishment of this caliber). I mentioned that my drink order had not been taken and that I would like him to bring back the cocktail menu (he had left after taking the order of the other 7 guests) His response was, sure but we have all evening to place an order - drinks weren’t going anywhere! Also, Usually, any open table reservation restaurant immediately asks about my shellfish allergy - not a word here. After he took the order of the other guests - I mentioned that I have a shellfish allergy. He asked how severe - I said I found a few items that I could order so no problem - he didn’t bother making any suggestions other than to tell me not to touch anyone else’s food without asking him what was in it. I ordered my items. Food was coming to the table (small plates) as they were being prepared - not once did he come by to see if I had received anything yet - for at least a half an hour. One yellowtail dish looked like something I could have - I called him over to ask if it was fine for me and to place another order of that dish if it was. He just looked annoyed but that order actually arrived promptly. Then after all the dishes were completed, even mine, my daughter’s beef dish (one of the most expensive on the menu) didn’t arrive yet. I called Vlad over to tell him that we were waiting on that dish - he said he will check. No apology - but he walked over to the computer, placed the order, came back and said it would arrive in 7 minutes. We wouldn’t have minded if he acknowledged that he forgot that one - and asked if would we still like to wait for it. It arrived after everyone was done - but the dish was amazing so we finished it in 2 minutes! Not a word from Vlad saying he will take that item off of our bill due to delay ($1000+ bill) Not even an offer for complimentary dessert!
Great food, better than Nobu
Our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. He made our night very special by remembering my husbands birthday!
In one word.
Excelente lugar , muy buena ambientación. Su atención sobresaliente. Muy recomendable
The night began very magical - promptly seated, staff attentive, food delicious, even the manager stopped and chatted with us. About the midway point, we couldn’t grab the attention of our server, plates were piling up and our drinks ran out. So we just sat there until he finally came to us, but just as quickly he left again and another waiting game. We waited very long to close our check out, to the point we thought he forgot about us. We almost walked out because no one bothered to check on us. The birthday dinner started so well and took a turn very quickly.
The best food I've had in a long long time. Among my favorites the crispy duck and the soft shell crab of which my husband and I had seconds (tough decision as it was all superb with the rock shrimp as an exception just being ok). The Blood & Sand was delicious, glad to see it on the cocktail list, it was perfectly prepared. Ambiance is a 10 and service was as spectacular as the rest of the experience. Already can't wait to be back.
Loved everything about it! From the food to the service to the ambiance! Would love to see one open in South Africa!
Service was very good
We loved every moment of it! Thank you for a great night and meal.
Good, creative food. Very very loud. Super hard to carry on a conversation or even to order food/drinks from staff. So much great food in Miami—This place is just too loud to enjoy a night out with friends.
Great experience from the food to the music but you pay up for this quality.
Good Food, not Great! a bit pricey for what you get... went on a friday night and the place was quite empty for such a nice place (bummer!).
Wow! What an amazing place! The decor is inviting and adds a nice vibe to the place. The food was so tasty and such a nice change from what is on most restaurant menus that we will be back many more times to enjoy what is one of the best dinners that we have ever had. It is hard to describe the experience other than superior.
TOTAL DESASTRE.
I was really looking forward to dine in your restaurant before your Toronto opening.
The food was outstanding and really worth the price !
The server was awesome (I don`t remember her name but she was serbian)
Unfortunately, the servers assistant didn`t really explained the dishes as they were coming.
Overall, amazing place, super fresh food... we enjoyed !
PS: Don`t go for the octopus if you can`t handle SUPER SUPER spicy food
Hi LydiaB. Thank you for taking the time to review Chotto-Matte Miami. We value our patrons feedback, and we appreciate you for bringing your experience to our attention. We hope to see you real soon!!
Amazing and unique ambiance with full size palm trees indoors and gorgeous cherry blossom trees. DJ was playing really nice music. The service was excellent, but our food was just ok. The hamachi was the best thing we had. The robata octopus was oversauced as well the shishito peppers. Oh, spinach salad with truffle essence, very good but not memorable. Tuna tartare was ok, tiniest portion ever, just ok. Nothing special. Nice wine list although very overpriced. They charge $400 for a bottle of billecart salmon brut champagne which is $65 in the store. I am all for restaurants doubling prices on liquor but this is just plain gauging. I guess their rent is high or they rather sell to the one person that doesnt mind being ripped off, but not any sort of volume. I would go back if I was looking for casual food, and I would try different things.
Bobby D, our manager was top notch. Found us a romantic table for two. Service was fantastic and the waiter's recommendations were great. We had three fantastic dishes to share. I'll return as soon as I'm able.
They have major problems with the AC

La comida es espectacular y el servicio excelente ...
Excellent service and brilliant flavor combinations. We had the tasting menu and found it best for a first dining experience.
Hello LWB2: Thanks for the awesome review! We work hard to meet expectations like yours, and we’re happy to hear we hit the mark for you. Come back and see us soon. Cheers!
The food is amazing. The sushi and sashimi are the freshest. Their "dressed sushi" is delicious and creative. The Peruvian dishes are also amazing. The chef's tasting menus are wonderful and I recommend it if you want to try a little bit of everything...which you will want to do because everything on the menu is tempting. Service is top level and management presence is felt at all times. The ambiance is fun yet refined. I can't say enough to recommend Chotto Matte Miami.
Hi AnnaShmigel: Thank you for reviewing Chotto Matte, and we are thrilled you enjoyed your visit. We appreciate your recommendation, and we hope to see you again soon! Cheers!
Its ok if what you are looking for is an energetic night, but the food portions are very small, the flavour is... ok, and the price is high.
I'm not a fan of fusion food, but Chotto Matte's Nikkei cuisine is my exception. They're next level. Must try: flamed 4-piece aburi (that eggplant that has the texture of sashimi, what?!) and the soft shell crab sushi roll wrapped in cucumber.
Phenomenal. Loved the food, the ambiance, etc....Service was excellent. For sure will come again.
Excellent sommelier. Ambience to die for. Cherry blossom trees and exposed roof. Cozy side by side couch seating if you prefer sitting next to your partner. People watching wasn’t too shabby too.
Amazing place with extraordinary food!!! This is can't miss place in Miami. Highly recommended.
Please let me preface this review by noting that this is not a negative review of the food or kitchen. I am a foodie, business executive who has dined at top restaurants around the globe - and my wife and I were specifically in Miami to seek out some new and different dining over Memorial Day. So what went wrong........ after we sat down a waiter appeared with a bottle of water, opened it and poured it into our glasses - without speaking a word. Later we noticed tables nearby were being served water from a pitcher - we were not offered that option. All in all service was lacking - and when our bill came we noticed all of the following. 1. We were charged $7 for water we did not order. 2. We we charged for a "truffle" to be added to a dish........ that we neither received or ordered 3. Gratuity was automatically added at 18% - I have no problem with that - so long as the waiter points it out as it was in very fine print on the menu - and the credit card slip still had a very bold "tip" line. When we pointed all of this out to the waiter - he immediately put his tail between his legs - apologized - and credited the incorrect charges - but was not the least repentant.
Given Miami Beach is a very popular tourist spot......... I can only imagine how many innocent diners these practices have screwed.
I would not recommend the tasting menu. The previous 3 times I've eaten at Chotto Matte I order a la carte. Nothing is cheap, nor should it be, but I didn't feel that there was any value in the tasting menu. The service was OK and it should be. They add on an 18% tip on the bill. Great place for dinner when someone else is picking up the tab.
