Chin Chin restaurant is open 11am till late, 7 days a week and focuses on South-East Asian cuisine with Benjamin Cooper at the helm as executive chef. We're modeled on the dining halls of Asia with a shared-eating concept and therefore operate on a walk-in only policy for groups of less than 8.

Great food. Good atmosphere. Was great to be able to book for only 2 people. Service was a bit slow at times hard to catch the waiters eye. Also got extremely hot at one point like the aircon had been turned off. Worth it for the food though!

We had a group of 7 that did the Yum Cha banquet. The food was delicious! We got chicken wings to start that were delish, highly recommend. The service however from the start was shocking. Waited for ages to even be asked for drinks or given water. No one seemed to be assigned to our table and when we finally got someone’s attention they would say they would send someone else over. If the service was better we probably would have ordered more drinks and food.

They crowded people around the edges of the restaurant, the centre of the restaurant was all empty but people were sorted at tables around the edge that were too small, we were three people seated at a two person table so our dishes did not fit on our table when they were delivered which made our eating experience not great, the food was ok but not worth the cost.

I went to Chin Chin years ago and it was great, it seems now they are trading off their name.

We did have a great waitress

The food and flavours is what draws me to Chin Chin. We had lunch yesterday with work colleagues from out of town. They thought the food was sensational. The service was great. Friendly and mostly around when you need them. A BIG plus is that when we asked the waitress to check if the chicken and meats were free range the kitchen came back with a YES. It would be good if staff were trained up on that element of the produce being used in this restaurant. Overall LovEd the vibe.

The worst service experience we’ve ever had! We went as a group of 6, booking a week in advance for the banquet option at 69$ pp. Upon arrival we were told we would need to vacate the table in 2 hrs, but were told it would be plenty of time. It clearly wasn’t, we spent $550 and our table left hungry. The manager herself told us we had to leave and take our ice cream “to go”, as they needed the table. When dessert arrived she actually came back to usher us out faster. Appalling and disrespectful!

We had the feed me Chefs Banquet $88 special. We were really impressed with how quickly everything came and the attentive waiters and waitresses. Fantastic service and delicious food. We raved over the Kingfish Sashimi!!

My friends and I visited Chin Chin Sydney for the Yum Cha Set Menu. The food was amazing, especially the prawn spring rolls, mudcrab dumpling and mushroom fried rice.
The service and atmosphere was great too. Our only complaint was the music was sooo loud you literally had to shout to have a conversation with the person across the table from you.
So other than the music, I would highly recommend Chin Chin.⭐⭐⭐⭐

The food at Chin Chin is always very tasty and consistent however I was expecting more from the yum cha menu. It really wasn’t value for money.

Will stick with the fed me or regular menu in the future.

Terrible welcome from the guy on reception.

We were five minutes early with guests from the US - one of whom had just got off a flight from LA.

I asked if we could sit only to be told in surly manner that you weren’t open yet.

Guy was ill mannered and left a poor impression with the group.

Food, service and ambiance were great. A little on the expensive side for dishes. Only gripe is that we booked a table for 2 for the $39.50 Yum Cha menu and it provided the option for a table at 4pm. We rocked up on the dot at 4pm and were seated, but the server said that the Yum Cha feast time frame had ended and we couldn’t order it. Very disappointed but didn’t let it get us down and ordered from the normal menu. Why have an option for 4pm at all?

We got the Yum Cha banquet menu for 2 and it was definitely great value for money considering the quantity and quality of the food.
It was a a busy Sunday lunch time for the restaurant, but the service was slow with the drink we ordered never appeared. Also with the lack of soundproofing in the restaurant, shouting to be heard is inevitable.

Drink and service were very good. The food was ok but for the price point it was very over priced. Some dishes just did not work with the set menu. Chicken cashew salad and a sweet beef pasta really did not fit with the rest of the menu.

We got the yum Cha special and it was absolutely divine! Really loved the food, but sadly the portion sizes were really quite small and we felt it was over priced. Excellent service though and a great atmosphere. Very glad I went but probably won’t go back in the near future.

Had the February yum cha special here. It was hit and miss with the dumplings, with the stand out being fried rice and the wok fried veggies. The value of it could have been better at $40. Service was busy but adequate throughout the meal. Prior to opening, understandably that they were getting ready prior to midday opening on a Sunday, but it was pouring with rain this day and there was no flexibility.

Individual dishes are expensive. We were the first to be seated yet the waitress sat us at the worst table - one with a massive column in my back. Clearly wanting to fill the worst table first so as not to worry about it later... not impressed. I asked another waiter and moved tables.

Had the green curry with steamed fish, very disappointed as we ordered this as an extra after having the yum cha.

The food was all amazing and definitely worth the amount we paid for with the feed me menu.
Only thing was you didn’t get to pick what you want. All the staff were lovely and kept refilling water without asking.
It was a touch loud in there. But overall it was really nice.
Would recommend it and will be coming back.

We had been to the Melbourne rest and had such a fabulous experience that we assumed it would be the same at the Sydney rest. Unfortunately it was not! We had no dedicated server, spacing time between meals was extremely long, when the food finally came they just placed it down without even explaining what it was. We were so upset that we didn’t wait for dessert. The Manager fortunately realized and did not charge us which we a very good gesture and not expected.

I went here for my birthday lunch. We had the Yum Cha lunch and chargrilled swordfish on the side. We ordered 3 types of dessert and they were all off the charts. Highly recommend. Would also like to commend the manager Stephen. We had a slight mix-up with reservations but the way he handled it was not only professional but also very genuine and warm. Very friendly and accommodating. I love people like that. 100 stars from me.

It all started with a bit of a laugh with the staff as we could not open the front door! We were early for our booking but seated straight away. Started with a cocktail - delicious, our waitress was outstanding and very attentive even though her section was quite full. The interaction between staff was nice too.
We chose the Feed Me option..don’t do this unless you are very hungry...my favourite dish was the Pad Seuw.
I’d say Sydney lunch is very a different experience than Melbourne for dinner
