Chin Chin Sydney
Chin Chin restaurant is open 11am till late, 7 days a week and focuses on South-East Asian cuisine with Benjamin Cooper at the helm as executive chef. We're modeled on the dining halls of Asia with a shared-eating concept and therefore operate on a walk-in only policy for groups of less than 8.
A slightly disappointing experience. Table of 6 seated at a way-to-small table, with the result that it was very cramped with the serving plates, wine glasses etc.
The pipis in XO sauce were very tasty but there was more than a little sand in them which made chewing a challenge.
We were told we were getting Wagyu but it never arrived.
3 desserts were put on the table - with no plates share, just spoons! Had to ask for small plates.
Overall not good value for money at $ 88/pax
Unfortunately I cannot think of anything to say “that made it special”. Very over rated, service was poor and the food average at best.
Given the hype , I was very disappointed
great food and service as usual
Having loved the Melbourne chapter, chose it for one of our work dinners. With the pressure on to find a fun, funky but seriously good gastro experience for our Singaporean leader, happy to say “nailed it”. Chin Chin, nom nom.
Food was good but not as good as the one in Melbourne
which we have been too lots of times. More food comes out in the Melbourne one and they do not stop bringing it out until you are full they ask you as the Sydney one they do not do this. The desert was a small icecream very dissapointed in that as in Melbourne chin chins we had numerous great deserts.
Flavours were phenomenal.
I love Chin Chin, always have and hopefully always will, however we had the worst experience we have had the whole time we have been dining with them.
Massive gaps during serves, slow service plates being taken away while asking if we are done, and then us having to ask for more food due to still being hungry.
The food is amazing, however portion size was smaller than usual, and to charge an additional $25 for 3 pieces of rotti bread due to us being hungry was a little steep. Also no reply to me
Went with group of 8 for Mother’s Day lunch and had the feed me option where the food is chosen for us with any requests we had. The food was delicious and certainly can’t say we left there hungry! Special mention to the fabulous and friendly service as well.
Was a lovely Mother’s Day lunch, all the dishes we ordered were great. The special “Mumma Sours” cocktails were delicious as well. I also loved the special Mecca gift that was given to my mum.
My daughter had her 18 th the service was amazing x superb attention to detail really nice waitress
I've always loved Chin Chin but this visit the service and experience wasn't as great as normal. Service level was below normal and there was a certain point where we just had no one to get us wine or desserts. Should have just stayed at the bar as the staff there were much nicer.
Went to Chin Chin Sydney for our wedding lunch. We were greeted warmly by Sam the manager and our waiter Joe. There were 8 of us so we chose the Feed Me #1 menu. They spoilt us from beginning to end. Sam gave us a bottle of Prosecco to start, and every single dish was stunning in flavor. I counted there was a variety of 12 dishes including dessert! Joe excluded the dishes I didn't want and team was very attentive. I appreciated that music was kept low for conversations. It was a perfect day!!
We loved the food and the space. However, when we dine with friends we like to be able to hear what each other is saying. The volume on the music in the restaurant was ridiculous. Perhaps ideal for the modern couple who like to spend the entire meal on their phones.
The food was brilliant however the dessert was a let down - we had the chef's special banquet and thought the duck was disappointing (too sour) and the beef was a little overcooked (and wasn't sure if it was meant to be a curry - if it is, then where is the sauce?)
Service was difficult as the place became full - it was possibly understaffed on a Sunday. The ice cream for dessert was a little small, and it completely splashed and melted when we took a bite (staining our clothes).
The staff were friendly but when advised of allergies they advised not to eat something after it was brought to the table. Too late. The food was overpriced and not good value for money. If you want Thai food, just go to a nice Thai restaurant and you'll walk out satisfied. We had to go and have a second dinner as we were still hungry. Thought has been put into the ambience & space but food is not the priority. Some dishes were quite dry and very small portions. We won't go back.
First time here. We had the Feed Me. Food was absolutely amazing and so flavoursome. All dishes were really well balanced. Would highly recommend.
Exceptional service from the time we walked in the door. The staff were very attentive and helpful throughout our experience. I ordered the Kingfish Sashimi absolutely delicious.
It was great, my friends and I absolutely enjoyed it! The food was amazing, I highly recommended for couples and family !
Food and service was great, but it is loud on the floor. The music, while great fun could be turned down a notch or two to enable easier table conversation..
I would totally recommend Chin Chin
However if busy be prepared for long delays in service
Excellent, sensational flavours, highly recommended. We’ll be back!
Great food. Highly recommend
We just love coming back over and over. The food is great every time we go. Awesome
Big occasion, we were looking forward to dining at chin chin and it was nothing but disappointment. From the beginning, our lost booking foreshadowed the rest of the evening. We booked for the classic chin chin meals at $69pp and the food from the entrees to the dessert was all sub par. Not worth the hefty price tag at all. Some of the meat came out cold, the dishes chosen were not what we were expecting especially considering this is a place we always hear about. Very overrated and overpriced
Perfect restaurant for a family catch up.
Delicious food & very professional service.
It was fabulous for our special occasion. We chose the banquet and each dish was amazing. Just loved all the different tastes. Service was excellent.
Everything was perfect, from the food to the service, we had a very special business lunch with all of our staff office.
Just not for us. People seem to love it
Every dishes yesterday was fantastic! Great compliments received! Thank you!
Hi Food was great we had booked for a late Saturday lunch
As such we could only have the fixed price options which did not make much sense to us and our waitress struggled with a good rationale for this
The service was pretty poor to be honest until a change of shift occurred and we were taken care of as we should have been initially
Chin Chins loss as it was a birthday lunch and we couldn’t find anyone interested in serving us drinks or explaining the food
I’ve been here multiple times and always loved it. However this time the service really fell flat. Not sure if they were short staffed or not, but we were told they needed the table back by 8.30 (we started at 6.30) but our Feed Me fixed menu didn’t finish being served until 9.10. The usually quick succession of dishes felt unusually long and drawn out with big gaps in them between them. Tables around us who started later and had Feed Me finished quickly overtook us.
We had the banquet meal which was great as we got surprise dishes and didn't have to spend ages deciding what we wanted. Every single dish was delicious and they just kept coming! We were stuffed by the end!
I first went to Chin Chin two months ago.
Ever since then, I’ve been back 4 times. Each dish I’ve tried were amazing and it has yet to fail my expectations
Great food and atmosphere
Food was delicious. But tables too close together where I could hear next tables conversation over my own table and when the woman next to me knocked her glass of wine, it splashed all over me as we were pretty much shoulder to shoulder. Would be nice to be a bit spaced out between tables.
Chin Chin did not disappoint! Great food, buzzy atmosphre, awesome, attentive service.
Just a great place for lunch!
Booked a work dinner here for 10 people. We we given the chef's table which was a pleasant surprise. All the diners had a great time. The food was delicious. Would come back again.
