Chin Chin Sydney
Chin Chin restaurant is open 11am till late, 7 days a week and focuses on South-East Asian cuisine with Benjamin Cooper at the helm as executive chef. We're modeled on the dining halls of Asia with a shared-eating concept and therefore operate on a walk-in only policy for groups of less than 8.
The service was by far one of the best as table water was always being filled, staff constantly came to check how the food was and food was served promptly. The chefs banquet menu was surprisingly very feeling. Left very satisfied :)
Second time at ChinChin. I was afraid I had talked my first experience up too much, but last night was equally great.
Atmosphere and vibe was just great, food delicious.
Waiters and waitresses attentive and patient too.
I feel that the music, later in the evening became louder,so became a little harder to hear the other person speak. However, this aspect did not affect the overall date.
Great food, great service and great ambience, music maybe a little too loud to chat easily though.
I’ve always been a fan of Chin Chins but unfortunately the current yum cha offering isn’t anything I’d recommend. For the Yum Cha special, you’re only given single servings of 4-5 small dumplings and there isn’t an option to order or ask more of what you want, which is what we all love about Yum Cha.
Came for their special Malaysian collaboration yum cha menu. $55pp for food. The food was underwhelming - flavours weren't very good and the dumplings that came out all at once weren't temperature hot so missed some flavour for that reason too.
The service was really hit and miss - missed drink orders, delivered the wrong drinks etc. Such a shame. I've been here in the past for dinner (pre-Covid) and it was great (still exxy but great drinks and atmosphere).
Went here for the first time with 4 other friends who recommended it and having high praise so I was very excited. Decided to order the $88 "banquet"PP expecting to be blown away.
They brought out 3 entrees within 5 minutes of ordering, and then the rest within 10min intervals. We were in and out in 1hr. WTF!? Small portions, everyone was a
I wont be coming back, don't get me wrong - the food is good but not mind blowing for the price. Definitely overpriced, left very angry and hungry.
I was really looking forward to eating at ChinChin and our experience completely lived up to my expectations! The food was super tasty, great service and all in a fun environment! Much needed during these challenging times.
Very funky restaurant with live music and great Asian fusion food with a modern twist. Was loud without being too loud, service was spot on. Food was nice with great flavours. Must finish off with panacotta with coffee praline (delicious). Definitely will return.
Never disappoints, the food is absolutely amazing
Dishes we ordered had little to no flavour - Singapore noodles and the green chicken curry.
While the chicken wings was way too salty.
Only nice dish was the king fish dish.
Waiter can out and have us the wrong dish to our table.
Had to constant waive someone down to get out orders taken. At occasions had to ask twice, even though they had heaps of staff and it was on a Sunday night.
Not a good returning experience and won’t be coming back.
Exceeded my expectations with food
The food, the service, the bar staff. Wow. Everything was excellent. I cannot find fault with this place
we got the "feed me banquet" for 2. One of us was vegan and they happily accomodated that request.
The amount of food we got was exceptional for the price and we walked out content and with full bellies.
The pace was great between courses, the service was good and friendly.
Highly recommend, would go again and again.
ordered the yum cha set menu. so much easier than having to choose a meal.
The $55 Yum Cha lunch is terrible value for money. Three dumplings, one spring roll, one Bun and one plate each of Rice and Squid to share between 3 people.
The food was lovely however I was left feeling quite embarrassed as it was my girlfriends birthday and there wasn't anything special done for her. I told them in the booking form to please inc any special birthday suprise and I'm happy to pay for whatever. When I arrived the matradee said he would get us a better table because it as her birthday however that was the extend of it. To make it worse, the table next to us had a birthday and they bought out a slice of cake and a big candle.
The food was delicious, especially the desert and loved the vibe of the place. The staff were very attentive and friendly
Amazing food and drink menu!
Having enjoyed Chinchin on a number of occasions previously last night was extremely disappointing with dishes consisting mostly of coriander leaves and stalks - really poor service and expensive - no plans to return
We decided to go for the mid-range buffet for 2, which meant we tried things that we mightn’t normally order. We were definitely not disappointed, in fact we were delighted with what we had! The taste sensations were amazing. For us it’s a place we would visit again for a special occasion!
Amazing every time. Came here for a 40+ person work event, a small business lunch and a date night. Fabulous every time!!!
Food is always fantastic but the drink service was very slow.
Delicious food, excellent service, brilliant experience. My partner even got a birthday dessert on the house with a sparkler. We didn't catch our waitress' name, but she was incredible (chatty, personable and just the right touch of sass). Thank you!
The place is excellent.
I just wish they had a QR code and online food and drinks menu, so I did not have to touch the food-stained drinks menu. We are all in this together.
The boatshed in La Perouse has this QR code system, and I felt that was so much more appropriate
The food and service were great however the music was way too loud. You can't have a conversation with a group (5). It feels like they are using the music to make you eat as quick as possible to get the table available for the next service. Unfortunately, I wouldn't go back just because of that!
Hi quality delicious food, attentive friendly staff, exciting new flavours, delicious menu, we will be back. Highly recommended
One of the biggest let downs in Sydney.Booked weeks in advance for an anniversary. We got seated next to a group of 10 people who resembled the noise you'd find at a nightclub as they screamed across the table at each other and nobody said anything to them. Everyone around them was looking annoyed but nothing was said by staff. I booked weeks in advance I don't know why we got the worst seat next to the obvious group area . Left after 50 mins. Starters were lovely but mains only ok and overpriced
Thank you for such a great evening. Staff are warm and friendly. Food was amazing! We definitely will be back!
Fantastic restaurant. Went here for an impromptu lunch. Decided on the $69 ‘feed me’ menu, which is a selection of their top rated dishes. Everything was superb. Very knowledgeable staff and everything came out promptly. Can’t fault them at all! Highly recommend.
Amazing all around. Very satisfied with the food, great wine list and service. The staff were very helpful with great recommendations on the menu and accompanied by matching wine suggestions. Definitely become one of my top spots to go to
Amazing atmosphere, sensational food, wonderful friendly service, very helpful as it was our first time dining here. Would definitely be back sooner rather than later, first experience eating sashimi and absolutely loved it.
Great spot for a family celebration. We ordered the feed me menu and were not disappointed. Service was attentive and efficient and made for a great night. Highly recommend Chie Chie though it is extremely noisy so may not suit someone hard of hearing
The food was sensational. Every dish was delicious
Lots of hype. Food was tasty but lacked in presentation. Everything came out on the same plates with the same paper on it. Waitress served us initially to get the order but we didn't have any staff come to our table after that. We ran out of water and went dry till the end. Our dirty empty plates stayed on our table until after we paid the bill. We wanted to order more drinks and food but no one came to even top up our water or clear the table so we couldn't order more food or drinks.
Perfect date night well spent! I have been to Melbourne Chin Chin for lunch but Sydney dinner is 100x better. What an experience will definitely be coming back :)
We had the yumcha banquet. There was a long gap between the dishes.
Nutella bun was a great concept but the bun came out very dry.
There was six of us, 5 of us had yumcha and 1 had ala carte. The yumcha was average, felt mass produced and flavours where covered up with spice and oil. Compared to previous times i have been i was disappointed. The Ala carte meal was good and drinks were also good for the price point. Staff were leaning over guests and service was not the best, for example asked for the menu to order another drink, received the menu, then no one came to take the order so had to track down the staff
Excellent food and service however the two issues were that even though we had a booking we had to wait in line outside and there were clearly no social distancing regulations in place.
Always excellent food but the service just lets this place down every single time I visit there!!
We did the $55 yum cha special and the food was delicious and at a good price too but from arrival until departure the service is slow, inattentive and seeped with attitude. It’s such a shame because my chin chin Melbourne experiences have consistently been very good.
