Chifley's Bar & Grill
Wine and some dishes that were ordered were not delivered.
Chicken and Rib-eye were over cooked.
We could have gone to any good Canberra restaurant for the price.
We chose Chifley for the ambience of the Kurrajong Hotel for our special occasion.
Expected to have a great experience but sadly we did not.
Staff were friendly which was something I suppose.
Chifley's Bar and Grill is a secret little gem! The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. While not all that cheap, you get your money's worth through the delicious food and great service!
Service was excellent. Waiters were very helpful and friendly
Food was amazing
I brought my husband there for his 50th birthday dinner and he thoroughly enjoyed it
Quite relaxing and a standard buffet breakfast. We sat outside in a sunny courtyard.
A good atmosphere and generally pleasant.
We are satisfied on the servings its so delicious, and the staffs are approachable, in addition the place is so calm and relaxing. Overall, its highly recommended.
Good value meal in pleasant surrounds of the Kurrajong dining room. Good service. Meal portions are of good size and well presented. Good dessert selection. Good choice of wines. Recommended for a really nice meal in a lovely hotel
It was a great experience except for us having to ask for the menus and then to place our order. Small complaint in the scheme of things. Would certainly return.
The food was good from a varied menu. The decor and ambiance very pleasant whilst the staff were welcoming, attentive and efficient. Now back in Perth so no knowing when we might get to return. Good luck.

The meal was small. The price doesn’t worth. Food was very plain.
Enjoyed Dinner good value for money. However I was not satisfied with breakfast. Very ordinary and not worth the 20 dollars. Hot food was not hot and bacon all dried up. The dishes were not freshly cooked
After entering through the garden, the meal was excellent. I particularly enjoyed the 400g grass fed Rib eye.
The Bar and Grill is an ideal place for an intimate lunch/dinner. We were there for lunch and the food and service was excellent. The prices were competitive. Really liked the decor and loved the silver service available. Definately will return.
As we were staying at the Hotel Kurrajong, it was very convenient for us to eat at this restaurant and the service was very good, helpful and prompt. We asked to change from the allocated table to another in a different position (ie not just outside the kitchen door!!) and this was done with little fuss. We enjoyed our evening.
The food was very average and on the whole overpriced.
I found it hard to actually pick a dish that I wanted to eat.
The Christmas pudding cake was an absolute let down. It was a cold mush
A birthday dinner with friends
Food was excellent service and the service was good. Greater wine by the glass selection would be preferred.
We had breakfast at the Chifley and enjoyed the ambiance and the food. Our table ordered a l carte and had the breakfast buffet. The waffles and vegetable plates were great and the buffet breakfast had great eggs, bacon, pastries, bircher muesli. Service was good, except that in chilly Canberra nobody offered to take our boats. Apart from that, we will go again. It's very upmarket, laid back and a high quality meal in relaxing surrounds.
Nice food well presented slightly overpriced. Poor lukewarm/cold supposedly hot buffet breakfast.
We enjoyed the convenience of dining at the Kurrajong Chifley Bar and Grill. We have dined here on several occasions on our own and with family members.
The staff and service is always a stand out. The staff are very pleasant and go the extra distance to provide a good experience.
Romantic dinner with my husband
Tremendous meal. Impeccable service. As much a part of Canberra’s history as the old Parliament House.
The selection on the menu was an excellent choice of local produce prepared so that the guests could enjoy true flavours of the region. I would thoroughly recommend the lamb shanks, they were delicious.
Very enjoyable, food great! A little light on staff clearing bar area, as quite busy with pre dinner drinks
Amazing food and loved how the menu had wine suggestions to match each dish. Service was friendly and fast though I felt it was a little too fast. We had barely finished entree and main was on the table, it felt as though they were rushing to get everyone out and have an early night! Would happily dine here again though as the food was the best I have had in some time.
Excellent food and service.
We were staying at the Kurrajong Hotel so it easy to just eat here.....worth it.
However...the wine list could be updated.... this is the 2nd time we've been here and on both occasions, the same 2 wines were not available. Otherwise all good.
A beautiful environment with a historical background.
Food is excellent and the staff are great.
Went for a valentines dinner with my husband. Food was great, we really enjoyed the evening!
Lovely place to have a special meal.. They make the best Afforgatos. The duck was nicely done and I have never had maple syrup with it before. Only issue was a mix up not getting our starter till just before our main otherwise a nice experience.
Very sad to discover the Chifley Bar and Grill has gone down hill fast. The food was disappointing, my Risotto was a glutinous mass, without the seafood that we paid for and our side dish of vegetables was unpalatable.
Not enough waiters - overworked - they even scraped plates at the table because they were so busy
The Maitre Di stood around doing nothing even though the waiters were run off their feet. We were 'regulars' but not anymore.
The food and service was good. The ambience was poor in that the noise from the bar was very loud and sudden, i.e. emptying of glass bottles into the recycle, general clattering and noise from the bar area. Also, the bar had live music on at the same time Christmas carols were playing in the restaurant which completely ruined the ambience for what was our Christmas celebration.
The meal was simply delightful. I have never had a steak that was cooked this perfectly all the way through. Every flavour was superbly matched with each other.
Always reliable, this is my go-to Steakhouse/Grill in Canberra. I love the Ben Chifley backstory. The salads complement the steaks with well matched wines. Looking forward to my next trip to the Nation's Capital. The photo features the deconstructed Pavlova.
For starters, we got the mixed entree to share. It was definitely the highlight of the night! Could not fault it and great variety and worth the $40. Mains were no where near as good and not good value for money. The quail came on a bed of green salad leaf and a coue of cherry tomatos with wild rice- wasnt the best combination. We also had fish of the day which was a small piece of mahi mahi on a cauliflower puree and a few bits of dices veggies. For the $35 you pay, better off just getting a coue of the mixed entrees to share for better value for money. Service was great and prompt as well.
Unfortunately for us the night we dined at the restaurant there was a wedding on (150 people?) so we were moved to a small room next to the restaurant, so I can't give a good assessment. The food however was great and so were the 2 breakfasts we had there the next 2 days.
Great customer service and menu. Our steak was cooked to perfection and the cheese platter was very generous.
Becoming a bit of an annual affair for us. The Chiffley Bar &Grill at the Hotel Kurrajong has excellent staff, a very good menu and plenty of ambience to suit special occasions!
Pleasantly surprised. Food was excellent. Lovely ambience. The beef tenderloin with mushroom sauce was a clear winner. Give the restaurant a go! You won't be disappointed
Our meals were absolutely delicious!
My partner and I celebrated our 20 years together and it was a lovely evening. Couldn't fault it. Thank you.
