The first location of Chevy's Fresh Mex opened in 1986 in Alameda, California. Many other locations have since come to life, including the one in Linden, New Jersey. With brightly painted walls and eclectic artwork and lighting, the dining room contributes to the fun, comfortable vibe. Combine the atmosphere with a friendly staff and a convenient location right next to the movie theater, and it's no wonder why so many people flock to Chevy's Fresh Mex for lunch or a night out.
Each dish at Chevy's Fresh Mex is made from fresh, high-quality ingredients including the signature fire-roasted salsa and the guacamole made right at your table. Popular main dishes include such items as Mexican corn on the cob, street tacos or the shrimp and crab enchiladas. Love tequila? Pair your meal with one of the signature margaritas like the Red-Nosed Bulldog.
Lady that took care of us that day was very good and the food was great
good food and great drinks - a bit noisy - nice server
A great place with descent pricing & delicious food. The only issue was the table felt sticky. Even after wiping it down, it remained the same. Maybe a tablecloth would fix the issue. It seems as if the chemicals used for the table to keep it's shine is the issue. Otherwise I have no complaints. Our server Luiss (as it was on the receipt) was very nice.
Wednesday is $2 house margaritas! Food was good and plentiful and margaritas also good!
Comfortable descent food
The customer service was horrible . The host had a nasty attitude when seating us at our table . Our server barely paid attention to us. I asked 3 different people for a napkin to clean a spill I made on my pants and I didn’t receive one until asking my server for 3rd time after we already completed our meal. The menu also must have changed because when I visited in December I got my usual the snow crab & shrimp enchiladas and it was delicious. However this visit it was disgusting and the sauce was a green color which it wasn’t before . I probably will never visit this location again.
Really good food, margarita was tasty too, but service is a bit spotty, they didn't seem to know we were seated and then it was a rush to serve us. It's noisy, but overall, yummy and good value for the money.
I'd go back, just be prepared
We went in to try some different Latino restaurants around us. Not a good idea, at least not for vegetarians. The food is not fresh. They heat it and it comes straight from the freezer to your table in 10 minutes. No flavor. The taco was not bad since it was ordered custom and the tomalito was delicious. The waitress seemed to disappear alot for a non busy night and when the check came they had placed the wrong wrong food item on the table and pretended to give us a discount by removing the item from the check when it was entirely their fault. There was no discount.
This chevy s must be under new management... we used to eat here a few years ago...completely different food. Our visit on 1/6/19 begun w skunked tap Stella; food was all very spicy; there are no choices of mild, medium, or spicy! It was not a good experience
The service was good, but the food was mediocre. I was looking forward to eating there, because I loved the Chevys in Lawrenceville. The tortillas were so thick, they were more like buns or bread. The tortillas were thicker than a basic slice of bread. The tomilito which I usually love, was think and pasty, and sticky, not light and fluffy. The seafood enchiladas were too cheesy, and lacked flavor. It was a one note flavor. The flautas were soggy. The chips were oily and the salsa was just okay. The chicken wings were salty, but tasted alright. We liked the farmers market fajitas, minus the thick tortillas. I really wanted to like the food, but I was disappointed. My kids loved the tortillas, that was a plus.
Waitresses were inattentive, and table was not cleared before dessert arrived.
