Great service! Excellent food as always
Friendly & accommodating host, great staff. We sat by window. Food was generous and delicious. Bar when you first enter, so.it can bring up noise level. Overall a nice place to eat
The food is very good but overall my husband and I found it to be quite expensive compared to other places
Never before in my life have I sat at a restaurant and gotten on my phone to make sure I’d have Taco Bell delivered when I got home. But this is what happened last night. Within the first 5 min, server told us twice she was new. It was her first month. I would’ve known even if she hadn’t told us. But would’ve thought it was her first day. Lots of rookie mistakes from not knowing what was in dishes and not thinking to offer to ask, to asking if we needed anything while we were still waiting for our food, to asking if we wanted more water instead of refilling.
Food was less than mediocre. When I mentioned chicken Swimming in butter and veggie dish that was too sweet, supervisor actually stuck a fork in my food to try it - standing right there in front of me. I felt badly about not paying for either meal so I said I’d pay for the chicken. This dish, where chicken was overdone, asparagus underdone and pasta swimming in butter was $28.
Restaurant looks run down. This was a disappointment not even good enough to call a tourist trap. I cannot figure out why other reviews were good.
Our server was wonderful! I wish I could remember her name, Kayla possibly. Food and ambiance also great!
Great vegitarian and creative options. Service was great!
Open Table’s menu link is not up to date. Instead of prime, dry aged steaks that your link shows there was a fairly limited menu of bar food. The oysters were good but overall, a major disappointment.
Went for Easter today wasn’t that busy staff were friendly but they seemed overwhelmed and really didn’t follow up well, the food was mediocre expected more from Mystic but it was okay it’s like a good bar spot not a restaurant for your family. Everything took a while so just be patient.
Excellent service and experience. The music was great too
The food was probably not their usual based on reviews I’ve seen, but the service was outstanding and they really tried hard to make things right.
Much better service this time from our previous Valentine’s Day dinner date . We will be back !
The food is outstanding. We especially appreciate that breakfast is available all day. And deserts are first-rate. We did notice the restaurant seemed a bit understaffed in mid-afternoon. Be patient, the food is worth the wait.
The service was great and our table was ready as soon as we arrived. It was very busy and loud though. I was a little concerned about the social distancing between tables. The food was good it could have used a little more flavor though.
I made a reservation for a table to have a good dinner while celebrating a new job opportunity. I made the reservation a couple of days ahead of time to ensure we would get a table on a Saturday night in downtown Mystic. When we arrived the host was very kind but informed us that our reserved table is still being occupied and asked if we would take a bar seat. I said yes because I didn't want to wait, even though I made a reservation. Sitting at the bar wasn't terrible, the bartender was super nice and we were able to easily order our drinks. It was just a big letdown to try and have a nice dinner and then get sat at the bar next to a loud and rambunctious group of guys and to also see open quiet tables in the back of the restaurant that we could have been sat at before the bar seats. Really brought down the celebratory feel of the meal and the whole point of us going out to eat that night. I just wish if someone is still eating at the reserved table then they should be encouraged to finish so we can get our table or Chapter One could make accommodations for us to have another table. Overall, the food was great, the drinks delicious and the service of food was fantastic; I just wish our evening wasn't ruined by sitting at a bar.
Outstanding food, friendly and welcoming wait staff, and delightful ambience for a Sunday morning brunch. Will definitely return! 4/5 stars for value only because I felt the $25 carafe of mimosas was a touch light on the champagne, especially compared other mimosas I have had at other establishments. But, I understand it's a business and can't just be giving away alcohol! Otherwise excellent experience!
First time at Chapter One. Took advantage of “Mystic Restaurant Week”. I ordered off the regular menu. My husband ordered the 3 course meal for $20.21. The food and service were excellent. But the music was too loud. And the conversation at nearby tables was very loud. More like a bar atmosphere. It felt too crowded for COVID times.
Special wasn’t worth it. Left there hungry and paided $28.
Food was plain but good, service was great and the setting was very nice
Great service! Food very good. Good vibe!!
Bloody Mary was great but brunch was overcooked eggs and home fries. Eggs were ordered over-easy and they came out solid. The home fries were potatoes cubed very small so I am sure it did not take much to over cook them. Most of them were burnt but I sifted through them to find just a few that were eatable. I will not go back.
This was not what I expected given the high ratings on open table.
The experience overall was very mediocre. I got a pasta dish which was $28, but really just OK at best - not much flavor at all. Garlic bread was basically just lots and lots of butter. My wife's experience was similar to mine - she got the cajun chicken pasta, which she found way too spicy. We didn't recall seeing a spice warning on the menu.
On the plus side (I guess), portions were huge and I took home plenty of leftovers. The server was relatively attentive to us. We saw plenty of people around us who seemed to be there more for drinks. It definitely seemed like the ambience was geared more towards a bar (loud club type music). For dinner, we will likely not be back
Here on vacation with our 4yo son and they were lovely. Happy Hour $1 a shuck was sooooooo good.
My husband and I booked Valentine’s Day reservations in the middle of January on open table wanting to try out a new local restaurant . We arrived at 5:30 for our reservation just for the hostess to tell us that they were backed up and we had to wait . She originally said we would get a call in 20-30 mins when our table was ready . At 6:20 we got a call . When we finally did sit down, it took a good 15-20 minutes for a waitress to even come over to our table. When we asked for the regular restaurant menu she told us that the only one available was a pre -fix. We had no idea that the only menu available for the night was the pre- fix. The regular menu was what caught our attention in the first place . We placed our orders and waited for our drinks to arrive . We didn’t receive our bottle of wine for at least 45 mins . The waitress said she “ completely forgot “. When we finally started munching on our appetizers our entrées came out no less than 10 minutes afterwards. Instead of bringing them back into the kitchen to keep warm the woman placed them on a table next to us stating that they were “piping hot and would still be warm by the time we got to them . “Thankfully , we picked up our dinner plates right away and finished what we could on the apps. My husband ordered a filet cooked medium for his entree and could only eat half because of how rare it was cooked . For a new restaurant that we wanted to try to give our business to we were definitely completely disappointed .
Really nice decor & food was amazing. Drinks were very good & priced fairly.
However, the restaurant was crowded which made us a bit uncomfortable due to Covid. Tables were very close to each other. After our meal, we chatted with some shop owners and they said that Chapter One was regularly crowded.
It was our first time in Mystic. The food was great. Payton was amazing and helpful. Definitely will come back again.
Great atmosphere & great service but my card was overcharged. Didn’t notice until we left. I should have been much more careful in reviewing the bill my husband paid for because they charged us an extra $30.
Brunch was fantastic! Service and food was too of the line.
Nice atmosphere, great Happy Hour prices on appetizers and drinks, great service
Local place 'been nthere several times pre & late Covid. We choose weeknights as less crowded as
Mystic is still a busy destination- even in February- esp on wknds! Caught tail end of happy hour before dinner...nice pinot grigio & cab offered by glass.
Christina (very welcoming/ fun) little dynamo managing bar & booths & tables. Cozy & dim but techno beat a bit loud for us (to be fair not so much that we asked to have it lowered- probably would have not been a priority!)
Food yummy! Loved my salmon w crispy spinach & roasted potatoes & hub enjoyed stir fried veggies on rice.
All were respectful of masks & well spaced tables made us feel very safe- even our request for corner high top was honored. We'll be back again. ...lucky locals🥰🥰
The service and food were amazing! The music was a little loud and the tables weren’t as spaced out as I would’ve liked, but everything else was wonderful.
The menu offers a good mix of consistently well-prepared food. You have to ask about the desserts, but they are also very worthwhile. We'll be back.
The food was excellent, servers were on top of their game...nice friendly atmosphere. Service in general was perfect....
First time here but won’t be the last. Cute night spot with excellent food and drinks! We had raw bar as an app and it was very fresh. Our entrees were cooked perfectly! The service was out standing. Also, loved the music choice.
Food was excellent. Great service.
It was a great time and the food was amazing. Our server was fantastic and friendly. They tailored to my allergy very well.
There was a table filled with girls from out of town celebrating a 30th birthday and they were yelling and screaming and it was really distracting when you were trying to have a dinner. I couldn’t even hear the person across the table from me.
Had the best time at Chapter One. The food was amazing and the service was incredible. Thanks for making our impromptu lunch so much fun!
We went for brunch and it was one of the best brunches I've had! I'll definitely go back!
Great meal, Wonderful service, DELICIOUS & DELIGHTFUL. Highly recommend!!
The brunch menu was phenomenal. Lobster eggs Benedict absolutely MOUTH WATERING!
