Chameleon - InterContinental Wellington
The service was excellent, some food was exceptional some was normal.
We were sat by the window and it was really cold. Food was delicious except for the tuna, it had no flavour
Mathan was outstanding! We had a fantastic time. The food and environment were great.
We were welcomed and given a private comfortable table. The menu is distinctive with two and three plate choices. New Zealand food is featured in innovative ways. Each plate comes with a good selection of vegetables, which we supplemented with a fresh green salad. Home baked bread and a salmon amuse bouche were followed by seafood chowder and a paua dish with mushrooms and rice. The second plates of beef tenderloin and salmon with a celeriac coleslaw rounded out our enjoyable visit.
Every dish they cook are one of the highest quality. Price are also reasonable. just some misunderstanding in English of the European waiter affects the total atmosphere. Get sorted out after a while. Otherwise they will get a Full mark.
Well, the food was sensational and the service top class. I do however think your wine pricing is over the top.
A Californian red I can buy for $25NZ max was $80 and with respect that's too high.
anyway I doubt my thoughts with respect will register.
I loved the place and the meal was stunning I just feel sadly that kiwis get ripped off with over the top margins attached to food. I have run my successful NZ luggage company for forty years and if I attached margins-mark ups like this my product simply wouldn't sell.
Excellent meal and perfect wine match. The venison perfect!
Had a great evening at Chameleon for a special occasion. From drinks in the bar to the wonderful food it cannot be faulted. Not only were the staff super attentive and helpful, they were also very knowledgeable about the process involved in producing some fantastically unique flavours. Highly, highly recommended.
Chameleon had amazing service and good food. With a great selection of vegetarian options.
Fabulous evening. The food was outstanding and service was friendly and very professional. The best seafood chowder we’ve had in Wellington. Dishes are beautifully presented. Good wine list and reasonable prices.
Outstanding service, food presentation excellent. However food whilst nice didnt excite.
Second time we have visited and again a great experience. Staff go out of their way to look after you in the restaurant and at the bar. Would recommend without a doubt, also great food and great idea with the serving sizes. Will definitely be back again. Particular thanks to the bar staff I believe it was Lauren who went out of her way to allow my partner to try a range of wines and ports, really nice experience and it made her night.
As always, Chameleon offers incredible value (the two-course plus coffee business lunch is just $34).
We had a wonderful meal with excellent service. It was our third visit to Chameleon. The restaurant was very quiet on a Sunday evening.
Overall the food was really good! However some of the portions might be too small compared to others, even though the waiter told otherwise. That did disappoint some from the table! That being said, what was served was really good.
The service this evening "only" gets 3 stars. At the start it was good, but we had to wait for cutlery for the second round even though the meals were already served. But at least we could admire the look of it before being able to eat. ;-) In addition when the second meals were served, we were still waiting for our wine.
The food was very expensive and minimal size. Very nicely presented but not enough quantity. Dessert was the only good size item. Hard to get attention of staff for further requests. All very friendly but not enough of them to be watching out for what diners might want after initial ordering.
Loved everything? Will definatley come again woth friends and families for any special occasions.
Wonderful food, very affordable priced. Staff are very efficient and attentive. Beautiful dining room.
Another outstanding lunch - great food, great price and wonderful staff like Sophie who always looks after us so well.
It took a while to get served. However after that the service was faultless. Also the room was very cold due to the air conditioner malfunctioning. To be fair this was the property owner/manager’s fault, not the restaurants.
Other than that the food is outstanding and prices are excellent value considering the standard of the food. The dining room is quiet which makes it easy to converse with your guests.
Really wonderful food and lovely helpful staff. they were even super helpful when my dairy intolerance and adjusted meals accordingly so I could eat them.
One of the desserts accidently came out with brush bristles in it and they immediately replaced it with another one and didn't charge us for the inconvenience.
Beautiful tables and dining area. Excellent food and I highly recommend.
The food was very nice, however I was disappointed to find no vegan menu for lunch. I specifically chose this restaurant because it said on the website that vegan and gluten free menus were available. It was very disappointing to find only one vegetarian dish on the menu, and that had to be modified to make it dairy free. Other than the lack of choice for food, it was very nice, well presented, and the service and atmosphere were great.
The food was amazing, it came very quickly. We also received a small starter compliments of the chef- very impressing. The facilities were fantastic. Overall a lovely dining experience
Great for a special occasion but pricey. The food was excellent. I found their sizing strange in that they weren't small plates because you couldn't order some to share and then get others as necessary. Instead you ended up eating two entrees which at least left plenty of room for dessert. Service was good.
Dinner lovely and staff friendly and knowledgeable.
Downside was that the restaurant was cold. We were moved to a warmer area which was great but didn’t stay for dessert as my husband was still cold.
We three chose to share the excellent bread with smoked butter and surprise surprise all followed up with the duck and sides of both the baby carrots and the broccolini. The sides came with delicious sauces plus a poached egg on the broccolini. The duck was pink with a crunchy crust and an eye appealing trail of mashed Swede topped with angel sized white turnips and a few edible flowers.
This delicious meal we accompanied with a very worthy Pinot Noir from Pencarrow.
We were served very a very able French waiter named Max.
1st course took an hour to arrive & was pretty average. 2nd course wasn't much better. Other diners were complaining about the same thing. Save your money and go elsewhere.
the restaurant itself was very chilly, almost uncomfortable...the tile walls and front glass windows don't help. we arrived at 7pm and didnt get our food till after 8pm even after ordering reasonably early. the food also was lukewarm because of the chilly atmosphere and probably hanging round for too long waiting to be delivered to the table. the restaurant wasn't particularly busy. The food was nicely presented and tasty, not big servings. Overall evening was nice enough but too cold.
We were served by a really great server however when the place started to pick up we had to wait a while to order another drink and order food.
What I did like was when the server asked the woman at the next table to take her phone off speaker (she was seriously obnoxious)
Oysters were delicious
Delicious food and excellent service. We liked the smaller plate option which allowed us to sample several dishes. Lighting over centre tables could be a little brighter.
It is many years since I last dined at Chameleon. We were very impressed with the food and presentation.Very worthy of "one hat",rating.
The young waitress from London was outstanding. Best I have struck anywhere for a long time.
Excellent food served by efficient friendly staff.
They could use with a little decor and faster staff, we tried to signal staff many times but we were ignored, and they over charged us for some reason, I wouldn’t go back
Great service from the moment we got there. Excellent value prix fixe steak meal. Great dessert and very comfortable surroundings.
I'm still raving about dining at Chameleon 2 days later. The service I received was friendly yet still professional. Loved the choices available on the menu and being able to choose 3 options of entree size meals is a great idea especially for someone like me who has trouble deciding. Each plate I chose was a flavour sensation and beautifully presented. Would I recommend dining at Chameleon? Absolutely and don't wait for a special occasion treat yourself
We went to Chameleon to celebrate our wedding anniversary on the recommendation of our son and daughter-in-law who had been earlier in the week to celebrate theirs.
The food was top notch. And we enjoyed being able to chose several small plates to experience different flavours.
We were served by a trainee wait person (Elsa) who was just great. She attended to our needs well with the perfect amount of interaction.
We will definitely go back.
It will be our special occasion restaurant.
Très bon resrzurant tout était parfait. Les plats choidis étaient tous exquis.
Great food, great service, great place - as always! :)
The staff and kitchen have been very considerate of my preggy wife’s dietary requirements. She’s so pampered. This superb service tops my expectations (being a regular to the place).
Thanks. See you again, sometime soon.
