Excellent found, attentive staff, beautiful restaurant layout
Amazing food and great service - best I have had in a very long time
The food was excellent! I’m still talking about it with friends 3 days later! Make reservations, it isn’t a huge place. You won’t regret it!!
The food was great and the service was quick and attentive.
Food is superb. Service is fine, but not particularly knowledgable about food or wine; e.g. we wanted a dry wine and asked how the Riesling was and were told it was ok, it turned out to be quite sweet and not what we expected. We also asked about speciality dishes but were only told about the standard ones that most restaurants do. Having said that, the food is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC, so I would certainly eat here again.
Great food in a nice intimate restaurant.
Great Indian food, I took my mom to try Indian food for the first time as she never had it before. Was a really good experience and service was good too.
Exceptional Indian food. Better than any we've eaten in the USA. Very creative and delicious. Choice over small or large portions is much appreciated. Gives one a chance to sample more tasty dishes without overeating. The Samosas are the best we've ever eaten. Cannot wait to come back to London to eat there again.
Chakra - what can I say. Food and dessert was excellent. Quality is really not the issue here. Good Indian Food at good inexpensive prices. On average £25-30 per head including a bottle of wine to share. What really disappointed us all was the 45 minute wait for the delivery of the food and no real apology forthcoming. My guests and I sat in the outdoor terrace only too see a wave of Deliveroo drivers waiting too for their food. Totally unacceptable that as guests sat down we had to wait 45 mins. When the food did arrive, my friend was by then not hungry anymore. Cannot blame her. No apology and only after the 4th time asking where our food is, did we demand an extra bottle of wine as gesture of goodwill. This was not given and we got 2 glasses of house red. At the end of the meal and a humbling apology from the manager and clearly embarrassed at too many orders not being fulfilled by the kitchen were we treated to some desserts free of charge. Too late- damage has been done. Yes the food was good and thanks for the free extras but is a 45 minute worth the wait. No.
Not great food, very noisy and too expensive not worth it
Great outdoor dining once again, best Indian restaurant in London
Food was not good. As an indian this is way below par
Outstanding in every way. Hope to be back soon!!
Our first visit and everything that we had hoped for. A wonderfully cosy restaurant (we were upstairs) with beautifully prepared and delicious food.
My fave Indian restaurant in London
This is a small, quiet restaurant with an unusual and innovative approach to the Indian cuisine. I go to Chakra more often than to other Indian restaurants as it always surprises me. The food is very good and creatively presented. With family feel but not for families.
Nice little gem near High Street Kensington. Overall food was good but mains are a little pricey. Ambience was lovely and cozy.
One of my favourite restaurants in Kensington. The food is excellent and the service is wonderful. They also have great wine. Definitely a go to with friends and when I have out of town visitors.
Flavorful food, but quantity slight bit on the lower side for the price. Lovely & cozy ambiance ideally suited for a gathering of old friends and family. Service is a bit slow but it works in your favor when you are not in any particular rush. Definitely recommend the Mango Kulfi for desert!
One gripe I have was they actually charged me £4 for some raw sliced onions by calling it "Punjabi Salad" - WHAT A RIP OFF! I do not know of ANY North Indian restaurant that does not serve raw sliced onions! Not a deal breaker but shows a cheaper side of owner/management!
The menu at Chakra was mouthwatering, making it a very difficult choice. No enormous list of choices, just a choice menu of options. I ate the Lamb Roghan josh, Pulao Rice and Keema Naan. It was all delicious, and quickly served.
This 'boutique' Indian restaurant, in a lovely setting in a quiet Kensington location, consistently impresses with its innovative Punjabi influenced menu. The food is brilliantly executed with dishes I've not found elsewhere. There's a lovely terrace (which was full when we went), and a beautifully designed small dining room, which inevitably means you're not far from your neighbours' table- this is really the only downside to an otherwise impeccable gastronomic experience. It's worth ignoring the proximity of other diners!! Friendly and willing service, if sometimes not quite wholly co-ordinated when it comes to the arrival of the food.
Great food in a cozy ambiance!
Lovely casually elegant restaurant, close to main road but in quiet neighborhood with private feel. Food is excellent -- fresh and beautifully spiced. Will return here.
Intimate place that seats maybe 20-25 diners. 3
of us had dinner and drinks plus 2 desserts. Spicy sweet chakra cocktail was outstanding, as was the NZ Pinot bottle. We ordered the Avocado balls, Samosa chaat and Poppadums for appetizers. Avocado balls were great, I’d skip the poppadums for the price. Ordered Dal, Veg and hyderabadi Chicken biryani and mint pomegranate raita for main course. Raita never showed up. In general, portion sizes were lacking (even asked if the dal was the small or large size and it was the large!). Biryanis flavors were there -could have been spicier place given Chakras all about Hyderabadi cuisine famous for deeply flavorful and spicy foods. Will return but well informed :)
Fantastic food! Definitely my preferred choice for India cuisine in the area
As usual, great Indian food with a lovely balance of spices.
Its my local, so I love it.... only criticism is they can poor a bit too much white wine into your glass, slow them down, make sue you enjoy it cold!!!
Otherwise, a top rate Indian which always delivers
Fourth visit to Chakra. Basement room isn’t as nice as the ground floor but the food at Chakra makes up for any other aspect. Outstanding food from a menu that varies according to season. The best Indian food I, or indeed anyone I take here, has ever had. The chicken tikka masala was sublime in its flavours. The fish moilee so tender and flavourful.
The chef at Chakra takes traditional Indian flavors to a cuisine level. Interesting and creative dishes. The restaurant is small and cozy with nice outdoor dining when weather permits.
Started well with excellent starters shared by all four of us. Then went downhill from there. Waited nearly an hour for mains to arrive, with not another dish served to any other table. Mains arrived one dish short and one dish was burnt and another cooked from frozen and revolting.
Were offered some complementary drinks after complaining and told that the kitchen was not coping as there was also a function downstairs. Takeaways we’re being handed to Deliveroo drivers during this and beggars were permitted to enter the restaurant.
Not a good experience
For a sophisticated Indian cuisine and a gracious dining experience, Chakra is one of the best choices in Kensington.
Decent local Indian but wouldn’t go out of my way to come eat here if you’re not local. The truffle naan didn’t taste of truffle at all, but otherwise well flavoured and healthy dishes with good service. Peshwari naan is always a winner!
Lovely meal in nice surroundings Good value and very tasty.
Excellent food and service. Everything was delicious and a great value!
Our first visit to our local Indian proved a real find. Kensington boast several great Indian restaurants but they carry really high prices.
This is a gem; food was top notch and it was great value. Easily gives the big boys a run for their money at really good prices
We shared the Vegetarian fixed menu and a lovely bottle of Rose; top notch and great value
Really great innovative menu delightfully presented for sharing or otherwise.
Very good food, beautiful ambience but very slow service
Amazing experience, food, presentation and environment were extremely pleasant. We will def be back!
The best Indian food I’ve had in London with a widely varied menu to suit all tastes. The venu has just undergone a very tasteful refurb. Staff all very helpful.
