Food was amazing , and setting is lovely especially if the weather is good.
BUT the food took 50 minutes when we were told it would be about 20.
When we complained nothing was done about it and there seemed to be a lack of concern by management about the long wait.
I must say I was disappointed. The service was very average, there appeared to be only one male waiter who was interested in chatting with us or assisting us. It was expensive for the portion size and the food provided. Was noisy so hard to have conversations and the final straw was they don't do spilt bills - You can pay separately for what you ordered which doesn't work with bottles of wine, shared sides etc... overall poor experience and wouldn't recommend to others.
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch, the food was fabulous and the service exemplary.
I really have to mention the service, the staff were simply fabulous. Everyone was professional yet friendly when the restaurant was clearly very busy. There were quite a few little actions and gestures that made you feel very welcome.
Lovely to sit in the park, breakfast options good, service very ordinary and not up the expectations for this sort of restaurant
We had a lovely brunch and the homestead is a great venue. Unfortunately the service continues to be ad how. We waited over 20 minutes for a second coffee order. They blamed it on a large table but the barista was busy chatting to other staff rather than making the coffees. Luckily we were not in a hurry but I wouldn’t go back if we were time pour or had to be somewhere else by a certain time.
We used to go regularly as we live nearby. We went after a few weeks break as the service levels were disappointing. The female maître' d at Sunday breakfast has no customer focus. Refused to put us at a table we requested as she said it was for 4 people and we were 2. Five minutes later she sat 2 people at the table. We struggle to get attention from the wait staff. They say they are busy - but they are hopelessly understaffed. The food quality has gone down.
Our party's ages ranged from five years to 95 years and the Homestead did a very good job of catering to all of us. Nice food, good selection, plus the advantage of a playground at the doorstep, so the kids could let of steam while we relaxed.
Excellent meal for a special occasion. Will return many more times!
This is my fist time at the restaurant. The restaurant acoustic was poor, admittedly the restaurant was packed with few families due to school holidays. On top of that the live music was played too loud to conduct a conversation.
The service was good can't be said of the food that my wife and I had which was fish and chips. The batter was too greasy and the fish was not not fresh. Overall it was ok.
If you’re thinking of coming here do NOT do it. Service was horrendous, food was overpriced, staff were rude, complete and utter disappointment to say the least. I was there for a birthday brunch having thought it would be something special however this was the WORST experience and can not discourage you enough from coming here. Will never ever go back.
We had a delicious lunch here on a sunny day. The outlook over the expansive view of Centennial Park, is gorgeous and relaxing. The menu is very good, wine list decent, but limited. The service was very friendly, and very international with our wait staff representing Argentina, Brazil, Columbia and Chile!! While friendly, it was hard to flag someone down and I had to twice look for someone to clear and serve us. The bright atmosphere, and stunning outlook, made-up for any short-comings!
I come from the hospitality industry and I am always stunned by the uncaring nature of the staff previously I was sat on an enormous table due to the fact that most people who had said were coming to this event did not show up
When I asked for the 3 hrs that I ended up staying for to be relocated as soon a
s I realised I was not going to need this enormous table and was dying from embarrassment at sitting there solo it was to much of an issue for them to accommodate this issue so I was left ther
Lovely spot in Centennial Park. We sat on the deck which was shaded and delightful. The food was good, enough choices for a picky bunch!
Great food and service...obvious that all other diners were enjoying the experience as much as we were.
The online booking was easy, the staff were friendly and there were no issues moving us to a larger table when more than the booked number of people showed up. When paying, we were able to split the bill which didn't create any issues with the cashier.
Great atmosphere, open friendly staff, perfect selection of food
Great location at Centennial Park and the pie was delicious.
The service could be better, had to ask multiple staff to order, was frequently brought other tables food, and our food took a long time to arrive.
Would still return, but think the table service needs to be better organised
Location is fabulous. The food was great and plentiful. The staff were very professional and accomodating.
I would highly recommend the 'Homestead' for all the reasons given
Good food but service poor. Surprising given many staff. Hard to get attention to order coffee, food and to pay bill
Kids menu hot cakes inedible
All 4 kids hated them
Got orders incorrect 3 times
Eggs Benedict don’t order it. Just don’t.
Other 3 adult meals looked fine though
Nice spot for lunch in the park, food of a high standard. Found the table service a bit inattentive but polite and courteous.
The location and food was great at the Centennial Homestead but the service was so so so bad, they really need to get more "attentive" staff who actually care about your experience, we asked the head waiter for a larger table, he was so unprofessional and never came back to us, we had 3 different waiters who were trying there best but it wasn't good enough,it shouldn't be such hard work asking for service when you are trying to have a lovely Christmas lunch in such a beautiful location..
Good food, nice location. Very understaffed and what staff that were present seemed not to be well organised. Long wait to be served and long wait for food. The problem with this Homestead is that it has a fabulous location, food is good and people will keep coming - but it is very regularly understaffed. The staff try hard but the owners must bear some responsibility.
Have been to homestead a few times.food very good service good perhaps a bit slow bringing out the food but was very busy.lovely spot to bring the children near lawn and playground
We sampled a total of four dishes over two seperate visits, with both the breakfast and lunch menus being sampled. At the price level, the food is very low quality and inconsistently cooked. We could play drums on the pork, egg whites were raw on one dish, while poached eggs were hard boiled on another. The flavour profiles are also not well established, and were confusing.
The staff were quite rude and arrogant to myself and all others not wearing suits or raunchy dresses; I’m a chairman.
The good was delicious and the staff very good.
I was greeted warmly however the experience went downhill from there. The initial waitress was friendly however the champagne waiter seemed offended when I asked that he chill the glasses and was consistently inattentive and in fact unhelpful. The Salmon was average and our carrots undercooked and inedible.
A very pleasant location, right in the middle of Centennial Park. Lovely outlook onto the surrounding parkland. Good service, but our only complaint was the excessive noise level, mostly from the live music. The musicians need to understand that diners are there principally for the food and ambiance, and they are not at a live music venue for a concert! Very intrusive. Would put us off returning.
First time visit for Breakfast. Extremely happy with Service and Food. Located within Centennial Park, the Homestead has an excellent outlook. Relaxing, casual feel. Outdoor seating for warm Summer days. Highly recommended, will be back for sure.
Great spot for special occasions, food is delicious, prices quite reasonable, ambiance is relaxing, no doubt I will comeback again!
We had a lovely lunch yesterday. The location is so beautiful, looking out through the large glass windows to the park. A really gorgeous spot. A great place to bring visitors to Sydney or for a catch up lunch with friends or family. The menu was good, the food was a high standard and the dessert was really yummy.
Unfortunately we were very disappointed as our food never showed up and nobody took responsibility for that mistake. We ordered coffee(that arrived) however 40mins later the food still hadn't shown up plus we had asked twice about it. The waitress avoided coming back with an update which makes me believe the order was never submitted to the kitchen. We ended up leaving and voicing the issue a 3rd time. Very poor form. Shame because the coffee was actually good, yet the experience is tainted.
Food was excellent and food service was fast even though the restaurant was full. Drinks service however was extremely slow. Appreciate restaurant was busy but think waiters should be assigned to tables so that guests are looked after. Several people had to find a waiter and clear their own tables! Food however was excellent and it was a lovely spot to spend the afternoon.
Could not fault it, just the atmosphere and wonderful staff. Will be back again.
Thanks so much
Sadly, our experience was extremely disappointing on this occasion.
Our order was lost and only reinstated after we waited for 40 minutes with a very hungry toddler. No apology or explanation was offered at this time. An apology came much later when it was obvious to the staff that I was unhappy with both the service and food. The fish was over cooked, the squid was rubber and the toddler’s toastie was barely toasted. A 10% discount was applied to try and compensate.
My fourth visit to this venue. Arrived at 1.00 pm, food delivered at 2.15 pm. No cutlery. Had to ASK for it. No serviettes. Had to ASK for them. Ordered bottle of champagne on arrival, ice bucket put in sun. Not even offered wine with meal. When the sun came around onto us, the heat was unbearable but the UNUSED umbrella at far end of deck could not be used because there were “no weights to hold it down should a breeze blow up”!!! There wasn’t a breath of wind. The restaurant was busy and there was a private function, but that’s a good thing isn’t it? Get in more staff? I was so embarrassed as I had a friend from overseas to whom I had raved about this venue.
It was really lovely. The fish was delicious and healthy. It is a gorgeous place to do on a sunny day.
if only the quality of the food could match the location and price tag. The fish tasted like it was from the freezer of a supermarket and the burger was dry as. It was very disappointing and stood out in great contrast to the ambience of the restaurant.
