Booked a table in the restaurant but moved all bookings to the bar. I don’t drink and it wasn’t ideal. Service was great, food was good but not many veggie options.
This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend. We booked a table. Food was very good. Staff were friendly and attentive. Price was reasonable. Very satisfied
Our bottle of white wine was served at room temperature - waitress was happy to change it when we drew her attention to it.
Starter was delicious albeit pricey. Main course (mackerel) was very plain and nothing special, 2 pieces of overcooked mackerel and a bowl of chips, no salad.
The seafood are so fresh and so tasty. Very friendly waitresses and food was worth the price.
I did not appreciate that we were asked to leave after 2h. We still had wine in our glasses there was no warning beforehand.
Food was delicious but service was poor. Although it is a relatively casual restaurant I would still expect a certain standard of service, especially at the prices you are paying.
Main course of seafood linguine was overcooked and not good to eat. Wine was quite pricey. I was disappointed with the meal and thought it poor value for money.
Food and Service were okay but too overpriced for average quality
It was closed when we arrived while I received a confirmation for booking
Where did those reviews come from!! ??
Our experience on Saturday 8th February 2020 was the worst meal of many that we’ve had in Ireland.
Disappointed overall - was looking forward to the mackerel advertised as 'pin boned' not my experience and while my server changed the dish with no issue it should not needed to have happened.
what a find! Lovely seafood, great choice of wines, and great service, nothing is too much trouble. Definitely will return
Restaurant was not open. Service slow. Food nothing special for the high price. Bar was noisy
High quality and excellent quick service. Will be back soon :)
Great food and service - interesting specials on offer and a great menu in general
Had a wonderful meal! The service and food were great. I would 100% recommend Catch 22!
After booking online the week before, Catch-22 called less than 24 hours ahead to let me know that the restaurant was closed for renovations.
We were here for my husband's birthday dinner. It was a wonderful evening with excellent food and stellar service. The restaurant was not very busy, so we sat downstairs, which was also a lovely ambience. Will definitely return to this restaurant next time we are in Dublin!
Good food, better than most of the other restaurants in Dublin. The fish burger was amazing. Fair prices.
I had the fresh cod with chips and my partner the smoked mackerel with a side salad. Both arrived quickly and were tasty meals. The tables for 2 are very narrow so there’s a lot of condiment shuffling that goes on with the wine bucket going on the floor. My biggest gripe is the over-priced and poor quality wine list. Shame!
A lovely atmosphere, setting with fantastic food and service.
Amazing food!! Great service. Wish we lived closer so we could visit more often.
Love Catch 22! The food is fantastic! And it is a lovely little restaurant. We were there for dinner on December 23 so it was a busy day but our waitress was super. She was completely on her own running the whole restaurant which was awful for her but she never stopped smiling. She was polite helpful and managed to deal with all the tables efficiently. Christmas bonus deserving!
Super solo dining experience here. Shame the mackeral starter was not available. The crayfish toast was a bit toast heavy. That aside my Halibut main was awesome, but could have done without the chillie in my opinion. Look forward to a further visit next time I am in Dublin.
Disappointed that being a seafood restaurant there was not a more comprehensive menu on offer upstairs in the restaurant. Hubby was disappointed there were no scallops on offer.
The staff were very helpful & good atmosphere.
Would go back for lunch but not evening dinner.
Food was kinda meh, but the bar was quite nice. I'd recommend if you're going for a drink only
Catch-22 was a perfect stop for an early pre-theatre dinner just around the corner from the Gaiety. We had a variety of seafood dishes - oysters, mussels, chowder and prawns - which were all tasty. They have a great and affordable kids menu.
We had a rambunctious child with us and they were understanding when we wanted to sit in a far corner. We shared the shrimp and avocado salad, which was wonderful, and the mixed seafood pot. The seafood pot had a nice broth but the seafood was a bit over cooked. Thank you for wonderful service!
We had failed to make a dinner rsvn for our first day of vacation in Dublin. This place came up as available. Excellent oysters, the rest fairly average. Well-priced wine list. We had an awesome server.
Three of us had dinner here - we were happy with our food and the service was excellent! Nice place to catch up with friends, have a very good meal, and linger over drinks or coffee
It was busy night I understand they were busy but it took 90 min for food to arrive and we were sitting next to a banging Kitchen door which I couldn’t not believe they just left like that and couldn’t have done something about . Over all I did not enjoy it and regret I found that place as a recommendation for sea food
This was one of the nicest seafood dinners ever! We decided to go with several starters instead of a main, kind of tapas-ish.
The Sautéed Gambas Prawns, the mussels and the crab toast were incredible amazing! My boyfriend is not a huge seafood fan but he loved it so much!
Thanks again to the nice and professional service too!
I would not recommend catch 22... they were out of so many things on the menu, the place was not busy and it still took 30mins for our order to be taken! I had to ask for the bill twice at the end..and in the whole dinner we were never asked if we wanted a second drink.. such bad service! Food was good nice but nothing special
we were seated in a room off the main dining room which we were very disappointed with. No atmosphere or ambience. Service was poor, probably as we were not in main dining room. Ordered a white new zealand sauv bland and was served another branded wine and never advised the reason why. We assumed it was wrong order and enquired. waiter then explained they didn't have the wine and this was an equivalent version. Food was lovely, can't fault this. Atmosphere and service really let it down. Disappointed and would not return based on this as was special occasion we were celebrating.
Food was average if it were a pub but as it was a restaurant with restaurant prices I would class it as below average.
Not a broad menu with a single special didn’t leave much option. Love fish and loved the idea of a completely fish based restaurant but just disappointed overall.
Booked a table here for 6 people last Saturday at 18:15. This restaurant has around 10 tables, with 4 people running around in chaos. We didn't understand why, since 2 people should have handled these tables easily. From the start the service was bad: they kept us waiting for so long before someone even attended our table. We told them that we had 1 hour to eat since we had to leave at 19:30. We ordered a bottle of wine and 2 cocktails. They brought the bottle of wine, 1 cocktail and 2 bottles of water. They had forgotten the other cocktail, so we ordered it again. When it came, it was the wrong cocktail, so we send it back.
For food, we ordered 18 oysters, 2 shrimp salads, 3 mussels, 1 crabcake, 1 shellfish pot. Again it took them ages for the food to reach us. First, they brought all the hot food, instead of the oysters first. The salad had brown avocado, it was just leaves of salad with cooked shrimps, no extra tastes or dressing. They had forgotten the crab salad. They had forgotten my cutlery to break open all of the shellfish and crab I had. Total chaos!
For us, this is really bad service! The biggest joke was the bill: they had put everything on there, even though they had forgotten half of it, so we had to send back or ask for stuff multiple times. 265 euro's, definitely not worth the service and the food were mediocre. I've had better seafood. And here's the kicker, without explaining this rule, they added written by hand an extra service fee of nearly 30 euro because we wherewith more than 5 people!!! Worst experience ever.
The food was very enjoyable. It is a small restaurant, nice decor. We ordered oysters and they only had six... however they were great. The staff was very friendly, but service was way too slow... and i have been to a few restaurants in Dublin for comparison. The fresh cod was very good. The mussel bucket was ample in size... but the broth was not as flavorful as I was expecting. All in all it was a good meal.
service very slow, but the food when it arrives is very good
easy to find, very friendly atmosphere, reasonable prices, food and service was excellent
Anyone planning to visit, should definitely book a table in advance. The place is on the small side, and quite popular...consequently, when there are no more tables....there are simply no more tables. Fortunately, when you do arrive for your reservation the food (portions of the actual fish well prepared, but on the small side) and service are pretty good (we seem to have gotten the newest member of staff, who was genuinely helpful but a bit unsure of the menu and drinks list). Check out the menu on line before you book, as this is a SEAFOOD restaurant and non-fish eaters in your group may not find anything to their liking. The location is great, and the dining room is nicely finished.
