Casta's Rum Bar
The moment a guest walks in the door, they feel the warmth, spirit, and upbeat energy of Cuba, which has been recreated here. From the visual aesthetic, to the food, cocktails, music, and hospitality culture– every detail has been considered.
Casta’s offers a robust menu of Cuban favorites - a cuisine known for
fresh seafood from the Caribbean, flavorful spices, and a heavy Spanish influence. The star of the menu is the Classic Cuban Sandwich with yellow mustard, roasted pork, glazed ham, swiss cheese and pickles – which Castaneda has spent hours honing and developing. The secret is in the bread, which is flown in from Miami. Additional menu highlights include Empanadas, Croquetas, and Ceviche Caribeno with citrus, mango, pineapple, cucumber
salad, and plantain chips.
- Surfaces sanitised between seatings
- Common areas deep cleaned daily
- Digital, disposable or sanitised menu provided
- Sanitiser or wipes provided for customers
- Contactless payment available
- Sealed or wrapped utensils used
- Limited number of seated diners
- Distancing maintained in common areas
- Extra space between tables

No attention paid to socially distancing anyone. This was indoors and there were way too many people yelling and drunk and unmasked for comfort
exelente lugar y comida y bebidas
Second time visiting Casta’s and I will return for a third and fourth visit. Oscar has made both of our visit a memorable one. If you go to Casta’s make sure Oscar attends to you.
Outdoor dining under a roof. The bartenders know their way around a rum cocktail and willingly mix things to suit your taste. The staff recognized us and greeted us with jovial familiarity (we have been there six times since June). But we return because our first visit was so welcoming. A standard.
The “heated covered patio” for outdoor dining is not outdoors at all. It is 4 walls with a closed roof. There is no outside air circulating through. Great food but not the safest “outdoor dining” you’ll find.
Excellent restaurant! Great service and great food and drinks
Great place overall... Solid drink and tapas menu keeps this place in heavy rotation for me. Management team is active and engaging — makes the experience even better.
The experience is always exceptional! Great food, great music, great staff and engaged manager... it’s a mainstay
First off our server was Maria and she was a very attentive server! She was knowledgeable with the drinks and food and didn’t mind our questions regarding the menu items. Thank you to her great customer service. We had the chicken empanadas and they were so rich in flavor. The dipping sauce was delicious as well. Plantains wrapped in bacon...wha? Sooo good! The sweetness with the saltiness of the bacon combination is amazing! I would recommend everything we had! Being half Cuban I greatly appreciate this place as I can get a taste of the some Cuban food that I know will not disappoint. The food we had were all appetizer sizes so if you’re wanting a big meal with rice and beans then you probably want to go somewhere else but for some drinks and amazing appetizers this is the spot. Oh and the atmosphere is so hip. Loved it all!
Such a fun place! The drinks were amazing, and the food was really good, too. Not huge portions, but very yummy and fresh. The inside was beautifully decorated, and the service was very attentive and friendly. Definitely going back!
I was quite surprised with this place. The whole restaurant is very nicely decorated and huge! The "masas de cerdo fritas" were outstanding! Definitely recommend it!
Portions were tiny compared to the price. Also out of a few items on limited menu (food and drink). Thought it would be a nice place to try but better value elsewhere.
We made a brunch reservation for 12:00PM, their opening time, and were required to secure the reservation with a credit card, which would be charged $25 per person if we missed it. When we arrived there at 12:00, we were told that they were planning to open at 1:00PM, because they were having a “slow start”. After explaining that we had a reservation, secured with a credit card no less, they sat us on the patio. We ordered our food: a couple of Cuban sandwiches, an avocado toast, another sandwich and a mojito. The food took 40 minutes to come, during which the server disappeared from sight and didn’t even care to refill our water. The food was so-so, the pork on the Cuban sandwich was excessively salty and our daughter had to take it off her sandwich. The menu stated that a 20% tip would be added to the total, which most likely accounts for the horrible service since staff are not motivated to earn a tip that people will pay anyway. When the check came, it was on a digital device that presented you with the grand total, including tax and 20% tip, without disclosing a breakdown of the charges for these line items. We asked to be able to change this built-in tip to a different amount, since we didn’t think the level of service we received merited a 20% tip, and were told that the 20% tip was MANDATORY. Restaurants that include the tip in the check, whether it’s for groups of 6 people or more, which is common, or for smaller groups, which is not, always allow you to change that amount, since tips can never be mandatory. We will be pursuing this with de DC Department of Consumer Protection as well as the DC Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs, so other unsuspecting clients won’t be taken advantage of in the future.
We were in DC celebrating my mom birthday and we had a great time. Staff was wonderful we felt like family and they took care of us.
We had a great waiter! My husband and I had delicious cocktails and he was able to order a cigar!
The food was great, the drinks were great, and above all the service was amazing. Our server and the host staff were so accommodating and attentive. Will most definitely be back.
Delicious, great ambience, I’m glad this place has survived the pandemic thus far. I was worried. It’s a little expensive, but worth it
Love this spot. If you're staying at the hotel it's a must do
Great small food choices. Excellent rum choices. Wish they would have a rum tasting option on the menu.
Great place. Enclosed outdoor venue. Great staff and drinks!
Loved our waitress. She new the menu.
Had a great time, will definitely be back. Imani is awesome!
Business was closed.
Service and drinks were amazing and Manager Marlo was great to make sure we enjoyed everything
The experience was absolutely amazing and the staff is great!
Excellent food, service and drinks. Definitely worth the visit.
Rained through the glass all night. The food was ok. Drunks were good.
Obviously the cocktails are spot-on, but the environment on the patio is what you go for. Really awesome diverse crowd, friendly staff, and gorgeous aesthetic.
Great ambiance, great drinks, and pretty good food. I would go again for Happy Hour!
Authentic Cuban cuisine in neat setting.
Good drinks and very attentive service. The happy hour prices are very reasonable. The outdoor seating area is actually covered by a glass roof--so lots of sunlight, but not quite outdoors.
Casta's has the friendlist staff, great mojitos, good fun and a good selection of cigars. The ambiance makes you feel like you're not in DC anymore. 100% recommend.
great service, fun atmosphere, great drinks and food. a fun time for girls' night out or date night!
The food and ambience was worth the money.
The only unfortunate experience was the waiter (our receipt states Justin but it was a Hispanic male. The African American is the one who was most helpful. Giving specifics so the correct person will be addressed) . He started off fun and engaging and then turned excessive . Getting our food and drinks late was always “their fault” despite him being the waiter . Then once we got our food we were forgotten. That is until the check came. We were charged 4 extra drinks totaling $48 . That we did not order nor drink. We asked for it to be removed and he again blamed “they” which I’m unsure who he was referring to. When he removed the extra charges he made it appear he was doing us a favor by “making sure you don’t pay what’s not yours” . Then he found the time to hover over us as we were finishing with the check. He was visibly inebriated and made our experience frustrating .
Amazing service and food. A must try
Didn’t takes Covid or mask wearing seriously :(
The service was amazing, and the drinks were really well done. I’m definitely coming back here! Loved the decorations too!
Excellent as usual! Thanks!
I planned my boyfriends birthday here. They were absolutely amazing. It was my first time there and everything overall was better than I could ever expect. Their manager was beyond helpful. Also met the owner who was friendly and welcoming. The reserved us a private section, they told us that if anyone who wasn’t apart of our group to let them know. Casta’s is beautify inside and out. I recommend Casta for any occasion!
