What Insiders Are Saying
Casa Enrique is home to the best Mexican food in New York City, and we bet you've never heard of it. Time to get acquainted with Long Island City.
Lived up to the hype! Great food and excellent service
Delicious food and margaritas. Service was attentive and we were seated promptly.
Real mexican food. I came all the way from Phoenix and was not disappointed.
Always consistent and innovative. May be a bit overpriced but you pay the price for consistency and quality.
Amazing Mexican food cannot be beat!
Awesome as usual
not worth the over priced food- the tables are so close together you can hear everyone’s conversation l
Food was fantastic. Sever and support staff were a delight. Super funny. They made the experience so much better
Casa Enrique is a great restaurant: the food is excellent, the staff is friendly and helpful without being overbearing, and prices are reasonable.
The only observation I could make is about the noise. We had a table nearby where people were a little loud, and the acoustics of the room didn't seem to help.
Special mention to the cocktails, refreshing and original.
Noise level was very high but the food was wonderful. So you can either scream, or just silently contemplate the universe (or order takeaway and eat it at the Hunters Point waterfront). But it’s really all about the food, which was outstanding.
Food was very good. Service started out great and then degraded as tables filled. At least 15 minutes for drink order. Entrees brought out in middle of appetizer. If service was better I’d give it 5 stars.
The Food & Waiter were Wonderful. Definitely One of the Best if Not the Best Place for Authentic Mexican Food in NYC.
Best Mexican diner in NYC
We were rushed out by waiters several times, and didn't even stay for 45 minutes. I ordered a ceviche which was 21 dollars and smaller than my fist. It wasn't listed as an appetizer, and was priced as an entree. No one said anything, and it's a shame because it seemed like portions were generally generous.
Food is fantastic but too loud inside, to the extent stressful
Everything was excellent except the noise level. I had a hard time hearing my husband who was sitting in front of me. The mole sauce was the most amazing sauce I’ve ever tasted!!
Amazing food, amazing staff, all around amazing evening
Great food. The best Mexican restaurant i have ever been to.
Service was not reflective of a Michelin star. Upon taking our seat, waitress approached table to asked if we wanted Guacamole to begin our meal. No name, water offering, greeting. Then he took an extensive time to return to the table when I told him to please provide us with water and that upon looking at the menu we will let him know our choices. I ordered the mole enchilada, the sauce was delicious but the food was lukewarm at best. Renzo, name of the waiter ( that I only found out from the bill) never came back to the table to inquiry if everything was well or if we were enjoying our food. The flan was tasty. Other items that were order, Guacamole, Beets salad, Green enchiladas and tacos al pastor were ok but no better than your local Mexican/Taqueria establishment. I usually don’t write a negative review and I go out to eat two to three times a week but I really felt compelled to share my experience with the open table community.
Always great service, terrific food and welcoming feeling. Just all around perfect.
Todo estuvo bien rico. Ordene las enchiladas con salsa verde y mi esposo ordenó las enchiladas con mole. Buenísimas. Definitivamente vamos a regresar.
I’ve been here before and this restaurant is consistently excellent; while the restaurant was a bit loud, the service was excellent as were the salsa verde enchiladas de pollo and the crab tostadas.
Quality of the food was good. Meat nice and tender. Ordered quacamole hot but was actually very mild. Overall good quality food but nothing was outstanding or surprising and don’t get it where this star comes from.
Why will we not come back? So many people packed in a small space with low ceiling makes it unbearably noisy (we were also not lucky with neighbors 20cm away who were above average noisy). Almost impossible to have a conversation.
loved its so much! except the noise it was almost unbearable , service was excellent
What a wonderful place. The food was exceptional and the service was phenomenal. Loved the AlPastor tacos.
I am from Mexico and love going to Casa Enrique as it always brings me back not only to a traditional style but it makes me feel at home, whether it was my grandma or one of ants. Overall great- delicious Mexican food.
Server was short with us and made us very uncomfortable. Didn’t receive things we ordered and ignored us through the meal. Bus servers were amazing though.
Best brisket taco I've ever had! The tres letches cake was amazing as well. Definitely recommend!
Best place in LIC. Food was delicious. So good that our plates were cleaned after. Don’t let the pics fool you, it was late at night so the lighting wasn’t great. But delicious!! My only annoyance was the noice level. The group next to us was way to loud. Not the restaurants fault.
First off - don’t get scared by the inability to get a reservation at this place, just walk in and you’ll be fine. I went at 7pm on a Monday and needed to reserve my table for 2 nearly a month out. Meanwhile, there were so many open tables between 7 and 8:30 that I could have brought a party of 20 and would have been easily seated.
I was told about this place by a few status-chasing friends who claimed this place was super exclusive, had delicious food, and would make me a better person if I ate there. Not better in a philanthropic sense, but more in a bourgeoisie sense.
The place was poorly lit and the food was nothing to write home about. I understand paying top dollar for small portions if the food was special but this was all mediocre at best. $13 for guacamole which I could have made better at home. $21 for ceviche which tasted good but was laughably small and again, I could have made it better at home. $13 for 2 chorizo tacos which were nothing special and for the same amount of money I could have feasted like a king from any taco cart on Roosevelt Ave and felt proper bang for my buck. We ordered the mole dish and skirt steak as entrees. I don’t know much about mole so I can’t comment but the skirt steak, which was marinated in tequila and recommended to me by friends, did not have my eyes rolling back into my head like I thought it would. The entrees were however fairly priced. One of the reviewers here mentioned that the busboys would scrape the crumbs off of the table on to the floor rather than on to a plate or napkin. This was indeed the case and my date and I found it laughable and kind of nasty.
As far as pros, the drinks were really good and our server, Leo, was attentive, friendly, and easily earned his tip.
I didn’t leave the restaurant feeling better than anyone, in fact, I felt slightly ripped off. I’m glad I got to experience it but I wouldn’t come back or even recommend it for that matter.
I was disappointed with the brunch. We had been here before and I feel it was better. The enchiladas en salsa verde had very little chicken I had to look for it! The carne asada tacos the meat was chewy and hard. On the positive the tres leches was amazing. Maybe brunch is not the best time to go.
Fantastic!! Highly reco
Host and management team are amazing, food was fantastic as always, server was polite, just not very attentive.
I like this place but it was not easy to speak with my husband, I had to shout. The tables are really too close to each other. Guacamole and margaritas amazing!
Eaten is so many Mexican restaurants this month and this is the only one I would go back to, in fact I am going back.
The value for money for the quality of the food is outstanding. All is fresh and delicious and I want to keep trying more.
It took a while to get our food from a service level. This was a little disappointing but not enough to keep me away. Hope it was just a one off and the waiter did apologise.
Impoossible to have a conversation. Room is extremly noisy given echo of room.
Food was amazing. A bit pricy but worth it. Raw bar lovers must try the ceviche and fried oysters.
Foodwise I would definitely recommend Casa Enrique but I would have to mention that we would think twice before going again just because of the noise level. We just couldn't understand each other at all.
Awesome time like always !!! Luv this place
