Captain Moonlite is an eatery and bar all about delicious food, tasty wine and above all… good vibes.
Housed within the Anglesea Surf Life Saving Club (one of the Surf Coast’s best kept secrets) Captain Moonlite is tucked into the cliff-edge overlooking the Anglesea surf beach and further afield toward Point Addis & Port Phillip Heads.
Chef Matt Germanchis (Pei Modern, MoVida, Pandora’s Box) and partner Gemma Gange (Pei Modern, Jacques Reymond, Stokehouse) lead the team in providing coastal European food in a relaxed & comfortable setting so you can sit back and enjoy one of the best views along the Great Ocean Road.
Always a great place to eat.
A wonderful dining experience to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Food was terrific, as was the service and the setting. We enjoyed it so much we came back for breakfast the following day.
Lovely place for a relaxed, casual Sunday lunch. The food is fantastic, excellent wine and friendly service.
Delicious yet again - thank you CM! We especially loved the calamari done gf ;)
We come here every time we're in town, absolutely love it!
The food is amazing, the staff are wonderful and the views are to die for. Must haves - the octopus, the lamb, the John Dory (but honestly everything is delicious). It is much more casual than your usual city restaurant which fits in well with the location and makes it a much more comfortable experience. Definitely my favourite restaurant and will be going back!
Great food, excellent service and lovely views over Anglesea Beach.
Love this restaurant. Beautiful food, great service, lovely, casual beach ambiance. Suggest you book as very popular. Parking is a problem over busy periods e.g the summer, school holidays.
Fabulous service, food and location. Captain Moonlight never disappoints.
Sometimes when you hear good things about a restaurant and get to visit long after the revues they may not live up to the applause. Captain Moonlite did not disappoint, it exceeded expectations. There is a fresh, modern approach to it's largely Greek influenced menu. The flavour combinations, the plating... fantastic making the sharing of many of the dishes very hard to do. I would thoroughly recommend booking a date with the Captain.
Captain Moonlight is outstanding by any measure. Food is interesting and excellent and the location and venue spectacular
we are semi locals and love this eatery in Anglesea. We nearly always go back to back with dinner and then breakfast the next morning. It's a warm and inviting welcome each time we arrive and the food is just delicious. Don't tell anyone our secret though as it's getting more and more difficult to book. Yum Yum Yum
Excellent food - good menu - best Hapuka ever. Lovely staff Worth a visit...or. 2 or 3
Captain Moonlight is our favourite restaurant. It has a relaxed, ambient atmosphere and a stunning view overlooking the ocean. The service is great and food is to die for. Such incredibly tasty dishes for such a reasonable price. Can’t recommend it highly enough
Excellent food and very helpful, friendly service by the staff. 😋
Sophisticated delicious food, in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Great surf club decor, overlooking the ocean. A real gem in every respect.
We came for Father's Day and it was such a delight. My family and I enjoyed the delicious food and ambiance. The whole restaurant itself is warm and welcoming and the service was impeccable. Staff were so attentive and even though there was not a vegetarian meal on the menu, we just asked the staff and the chef provided our daughter with a delicious vegetarian meal. Everyone was satisfied and we will definately be back again to enjoy the delicious dishes. Thank you.
Portion sizes are much smaller than on our last visit.
Would not recommend for a family meal.
Has turned into a special occasion/ once a year /type of restaurant
We had a wonderful meal and the table service and food as excellent. As were the views. It was really disappointing as we were paying at the front counter to hear the chef swearing loudly at his table staff who had been excellent. It did spoil somewhat the overall experience as no one deserves to be spoken to in such a manner!
Great good and views to die for excellent choice for dining.
Delicious food, cute little spot at the surf club. Great service. Loved it.
We find Captain Moonlite to produce predictably excellent food.
Third time there and would go again. An enjoyable meal.
Always reliably good food and service. Great setting for outdoor drinks and casual meals
We made a booking on line and it worked like a dream, first day open after a well deserved break. There were four of us for a birthday meal and what a fantastic day, seated nest to the window overlooking the magnificent view and what a view, those rolling white crested waves, magic. The service all day was nothing short of excellent, polite, well informed, inclusive and understanding of older people. The wine was a local Pinot Noir, excellent. The food was served with sophistication, our entrees were interesting, superbly flavoured and everyone thoroughly enjoyed them especially the scanner crab donuts. The girls shared lamb and it was served with Swede ,what a surprise and absolutely beautiful. The lamb served on the bone, lovely Smokey flavour and tender a credit to the kitchen staff. I had a beautiful steak served with fresh grated horseradish, superb and a potato mash, yummy . For desert I had the quince terrine with ice cream, for me a winner, the flavour they got in that quince was exquisite, reminded me may I say of my mother’s quince, what a memory is with me forever.
Beautiful and reasonably priced food, loved the relaxed feel of the surf club and the super friendly staff...so great, we'll be back!
Excellent service and food very tasty. Furniture could do with a little update and more lighting and signage in the gravel carpark especially when area not regularly visited
All round great meal, service & location
Will be back in the daytime to take advantage of if the view
As a frequent diner here there is good reason why we return. It is always welcoming, stupendous views. Daytime it looks over the surf below, sunsets brilliant and moonshine refe tions over the ocean exquisite. Importantly The food varied, innovative and divine flavours each time - both at lunch or dinner.
The food was excellent as was our table host, Maria. We loved it
Lovely food in a beautiful setting, not pretentious just delicious.
Excellent evening, menu is so varied, the whiting brilliant and the share mains great for four. Service staff knowledgeable and friendly. Best place on the west coast
Great service and the food was outstanding. Well done Captain Moonlite.
I lived the Thursday local dinner my dinning partner and I enjoyed our meal, the wine and of course our French hostess she is one of the best - Merci
Spectacular setting and remarkable food. We couldn't have asked for anything more. A fabulous place to eat!!!
Food was great! We arrived early 6:10 for a 6:30 booking. We were shown to our table however advised that our order could not be taken until 6:30 (to pace the kitchen). The restaurant was far from full so this was a little surprising. We ordered a couple of drinks and they were good. When ordered food was bought out pretty quickly and was very enjoyable. Overall great food, I just though that initial greeting could have been a little more accommodating. (I would understand if all tables were full and venue was extremely busy but it wasn’t).
We were thrilled with the night. 4 A good group number then you get to taste more choices from the menu.
We will be back.
All round great experience for dinner, great food and excellent service
Just the two of us this time and shared the entrees and one main course. The seafood is fabulously sourced. The school prawns were tasty but the standout was a whiting with a scollop mouse inside, with a roe and light sauce, then the hapuka was brilliant with pea and leek. Really subtle flavours and perfectly prepared. Two outstanding dishes. Of course the butterfish sashimi was excellent as well. The menu changes regularly so the kitchen is constantly creating new dishes which means they are not bored and neither is the patron. Service is informative, friendly and fast. Its just hard to get in even on a Sunday night! so definitely plan well ahead
Great views - staff amazing.
Our friends from Melbourne really enjoyed all aspects of the restaurant.
