Captain Moonlite is an eatery and bar all about delicious food, tasty wine and above all… good vibes.
Housed within the Anglesea Surf Life Saving Club (one of the Surf Coast’s best kept secrets) Captain Moonlite is tucked into the cliff-edge overlooking the Anglesea surf beach and further afield toward Point Addis & Port Phillip Heads.
Chef Matt Germanchis (Pei Modern, MoVida, Pandora’s Box) and partner Gemma Gange (Pei Modern, Jacques Reymond, Stokehouse) lead the team in providing coastal European food in a relaxed & comfortable setting so you can sit back and enjoy one of the best views along the Great Ocean Road.
Amazing service, food and venue. Love returning here and bringing new groups of people to enjoy it.
Captian moonlight was amazing and has taken dining on the surf coast to a whole new level. Sublime food and lovely, attentive service. Breakfast here is also wonderful.
Food was faboulous the bug tails were amazing & the sardines & cheese with figs were delicious Service very professional but warm & friendly & very informative! Have already recommended it to friends! Look 4wrd to a return visit
We ordered sardines, kingkish sashimi, Mornington Peninsula bugs and more seafood for the mains. Every dish was a standout. The cheesecake for dessert was also delicious. Gorgeous location overlooking Anglesea beach with views up and down the coast. Wonderful! My only suggestion might be a little renovation on the interior of the restaurant.
What a fabulous location! The food was good and we had a relaxed meal watching the waves.
Consistently magnificent- always a wonderful experience.
Utterly outstanding dining experience!!!!! Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou for making our day so special!
We loved our lunch at Captain Moonlite. The food was incredible, the service was perfect - knowledgeable and friendly and the stunning view topped it all off.
I will definitely be recommending Captain Moonlite to my friends and colleagues and we hope to return next time we are in town.
wonderful as always great food, view, staff so friendly and professional ~ thank you
Food was mainly great. Noise level was too high. Have been often and would certainly go again
We've been many times and love it great food and ambience good service fabulous views too many thanks
You could order blindfolded and be happy...Perfect in every way.
Spectacular spot for a long lunch with friends! Food was terrific and wine to match, service spot on
Excellent friendly service, delicious yet relaxed food, couldn’t beat the location - a delighful way to spend a few hours.
Loved it. It never fails to impress, Wait staff improved, try entrees to share and the share mains the best value and often the latest creation.
Food, service and views are next level...Wow!! Amazing
Fantastic, professional, knowledgable and friendly staff. Amazing food, highly recommend sharing small plates from the starter menu. Amazing croquettes, super fresh sashimi, divine duck rillettes - we loved it all. And then there are the views ....
A wonderful experience! Delicious food and great service.
We love Captain Moonlite. Always relaxed, friendly atmosphere where staff and guests acknowledge each other, excellent food (the fried cheese and fig is NOT to be shared - too delicious), and magnificent views.
Captain Moonlite again lived up to and exceeded our expectations - Friendly and helpful staff and fabulous food! Always a treat to be there.
This must be one of the best hidden jewels in Victoria. The food is to die for, service fantastic and a wonderful view across the beach and along the coast towards Torquay. It is a great place to share the joy of living. Book soon ..... you will never be disappointed.
A most enjoyable evening good food great ambience and good company
Great outlook from venue overlooking the ocean. Quality food and service made for an enjoyable night. Would highly recommend the dinning experience, although seating can be limited so book ahead.
Fabulous food as always with attentive but not overbearing service
A great hideaway restaurant with a wonderful ambience, food, views and service (probably not surprising for Anglesea residents).
What a wonderful surprise. Still talking about the food and the lovely night we had.
great seafood. i dont usually eat tuna but the tartare was excellent. calamari some of the best i've had all over the world! great little spot, next time i'd prefer coming for lunch and a seat outside as inside does feel like a bit of a surf lifesaving club.
We really enjoyed our lunch at Captain Moonlite. The booking process was easy and the trip down to Anglesea only took 70 minutes from Melbourne.
The staff were really friendly and the view was spectacular.
We started with Mushroom and cheese Croquettes and School Prawns both delicious, then Fish and Chips an old favourite, the only misstep for us was the soft leaf salad which was dressed with an overpowering olive oil dressing, it completely overwhelmed the lettuce, nectarines and cucumber.
The food service was very efficient.
We will definitely return as there were some entrees we would love to try.
We were warmly welcomed by happy staff who attended to our needs all night making recommendations and helping with good wine choices. Shared some tasting plates and main courses.
Each dish was delectable ,fresh , and got the taste buds going. Just had to try the desserts which were all delicious. Fine dining at a very reasonable price. Will travel from Melbourne again to share the experience with friends and family
Wedding Anniversary surprise.
Asked for a table by the window over the phone.
Upon arrival greeted by the older blonde waitress or maitre d who begun directing us to a bench area table.
Noticed an unset table by the window and kindly requested that table.
Received an annoyed & perturbed non verbal reaction & she walked off in a huff - to apperantly organise.
I NEARLY WALKED OUT !
She did not return & eventually a younger waitress starting setting the table.
I asked whether it was for us now for which it was.
The rest of the experience was very good with excellent food, wine & setting.
The first initial experience ( which is vital ) was terrible & has now left a question mark about ever returning.
Delicious food, wonderful view and great and great service. We selected 6 share dishes so we tasted a variety of food. Each dish was lovely! This is our new favorite local restaurant.
One of our favorite restaurants in all of Victoria. The food is amazing and the staff are excellent. They make you feel so welcome. Captain Moonlite is one of those places that you can keep going back to and having a great experience every time.
Lovely location and very friendly service. Potato tarama and fish and chips were fantastic. Good wine and beer selection. The raw tuna sounded really great, but wasn’t smoked and so was slightly lacking in flavour. Could benefit from a sign in the car park. Would definitely recommend.
Yes definitely, great location, great food and great service!!
Our food was absolutely beautiful. We were seated in an area that was very casual and one of us had their back to the view and was looking at a wall of photos. Service was outstanding. We had a great meal and look forward to returning. A better table would have made the visit perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
Food fresh innovative, prompt. Welcoming and knowledgeable service, nice wines with good advice
Relaxed fine dining. Always impressed. Tapas style for entrees allows you to experience the array of what the kicker has to offer and there are two shred mains which are hard to go past.
Great find. A brilliant location overlooking the beach with innovative and beautifully prepared food. The prawn starter was amazing and enough to share. For our main course we had a whole John Dory which had been cooked to perfection and was in a great sauce. A great side of beans with feta cheese too. Good choice of wine by the glass.
Staff were very helpful and attentive.
Parking can be tight!
Great food and service! Amazing view, will definitely be coming back there!
Captain Moonlite delivered again for our girls weekend. So lovely to share fresh seafood entree and lamb and sirloin mains with fresh tasty salads and great discussion with an outstanding view and staff to boot!
Wonderful menu. Great service. Every dish we ate was delicious. Will definitely go back again
