We’ve been to this Mex many many times. Not sure if I should comment on the staff or the margaritas first?! I’ll start with the staff... we generally sit at the bar. The bar staff is bend over backwards accommodating. The Canonita margarita is top shelf no pun intended. My husband and I travel a lot and visit Vegas often and Canonita is a regular for us and it never disappoints!
We came here to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary and they made the visit special with some Churros. We enjoyed it very much and will definitely be coming back!
Excellent flavor and fun mix of textures. The atmosphere is nice and relaxing, by the canal within the Venetian.
Food was overly stuffy. Drinks were not refilled. It was difficult to catch the overly busy waiter. Prices super high.
GREAT FOOD AND GREAT SERVICE. AMBIANCE A LITTLE LACKING. CLASSIC ITALIAN MUSIC PLAYING WOULD BE MUCH BETTER!
The service was great ! Food was delicious and the place is very cute !
The food was the best food I have ever tasted and our waitress Sara was the best I have ever come across . We stayed at the Venetian 2 nights and ate dinner here both nights
Alejandro was great! Really nice and friendly!
Our waitress was amazing! So kind and attentive. Thank you Sarah!
Had a lovely dinner for my bf birthday on September 17th. food excellent, service was excellent. our waitress Laura was amazing she made our experience wonderful!!! will def return when in Vegas!
Delicious food and enjoyed listening too The gondoliers singing. The portions are generous, glad we split an entree. The churros with ice cream were fabulous!
Our serve Laura was the best! We’ve been coming jere for years and she went out of her way to welcome us back and enjoy our dining experience!
Flight of Mojitos was great, solid bartenders and cocktails. Alex was extremely accommodating and excellent at providing service. He’s just an all around awesome dude!
Went there for my husband’s birthday. Alex and Rafael were great servers. They were very professional and attentive. The manager Kathy made sure we’ve had a great experience and were satisfied with their food and service. We highly recommend this restaurant.
Nothing especial than any other mexican restaurant
The Barbacoa is very sweet and the Beans too salty
Taco sampler no coments
Mussels are delicious but very difficult to eat from the plate onthe top.
The Margaritas it was very sweet
they need to balance the cocktails
Overall, great experience. Food was delicious. I ordered the beer-braised short rib, and two chicken salads were ordered. All tasted great. I really wanted a beer but beer prices were crazy expensive! A bottle of beer averaged $7-9, which included Sol. We all know a 12-pack of Sol is about $11, so I settled for a Margarita instead. Luckily their margaritas are great and at $13, priced as expected. Server was attentive and they brought out their dessert churros for my buddy for his birthday. Definitely would go back.
Excellent gourmet food, environment, and service. Have eaten here on 6 different occasions now- food has always been excellent. Sitting by the water compares to blue bayou at Disneyland. If you want cheap Hispanic food Chipotle is right down the walkway.
Had reservations, had to wait 15mins to be seated.
Ismael was an excellent server and the staff was wonderful.
Our server Ismael was very friendly and attentive. I’m not sure why we made a reservation because even though we arrived on time, we were told to check back later as our requested table was already occupied. We assumed that upon making a reservation, a table would be held for us. We finally told them we would just sit anywhere because we were so hungry. The manager apologized and tried to make amends but it put a huge damper on our anniversary.
Food was amazing sat by the canals so the gondoliers were singing expect that. Service was great enjoyed it very much will be going back
Labor Day and Birthday
This is not authentic Mexican food. We are regular Las Vegas patrons and we expect a lot when dining at a Las Vegas restaurant. The food here is very disappointing. The wait staff was good once they started serving us. We had to wait at least 15 minutes before anybody came to get our drink orders but they apologized for the wait.
The tortilla soup was delicious! The short ribs entree was delicious! The potato gratin was just OK. The ambience was just OK - it is overlooking the water which is nice but a bit cheesy---I would have preferred to be eating outside if it was not 110+ degrees. I miss Mexican restaurants putting chips and salsa on the table as a complementary, nice gesture!
Had a wonderful time at this restaurant. We were seated right next to the canal, where we watched the gondolas pass by. Our server was very attentive and gave great recommendations. The mushroom enchilada was outstanding and the Canonita margarita was delicious. I would have come to this restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner if I could!
You won't be wrong with any choice, all are delicious!!
Second time dining here. This visit was even better than the first. We had the Barbacoa and chicken mole. We both agreed it was too difficult to pick which one was better. Both were delicious!
Great food and service. Loved being by the river and gondolas!
We have been here many times for dinner on various occasions and have never been disappointed with the service or the food. A wonderful location near the canal and a feeling of being outdoors adds to the ambience of this restaurant.
If you a looking for a relaxing time and choice of food items would highly recommend this place!
A Mexican restaurant located in the Grand Canal shops make for a nice dining experience at Canonita...
Canonita Ambiance & Servers: It's hard to distinguish that this is a Mexican restaurant as it's located by the Gondola canals in the Venetian, but that's just fine. You get an open air seating vibe with plenty of people watching available from the mall as well as the gondola passengers. I was seated and it was about 12 minutes before someone came by. I came in right when my server started her shift. Once she was here, everything was fantastic. Covid protocols were definitely in place and the social distancing was especially impressive.
Canonita Lunch dishes...
Chicken Tortilla soup: This soup definitely ate like a meal as it was loaded with shredded chicken and tortilla strips. The soup was savory and the bff got full from the soup alone.
Chicken Quesadilla: Small in size but packed with flavor, I wanted a light lunch before our flight and this fit the bill. The quesadilla was tasty and was served with rice and beans that covered more than half the plate. The serving size is between an appetizer and a main dish with the rice and beans added.
Overall, canonita is a nice place to dine in the grand canal shops. The location is fun and the dishes we sampled were flavorful. If you're feeling extra hungry during your visit, add an appetizer and all will be well Enjoy
Excellent meal. Service was splendid. Our server, Sarah ,was both intuitive and positive, from recommending yummy drinks to providing positive banter throughout the meal. A must go to establishment with a support staff that lifts the overall dining experience.
Great food and service. Beautiful view of gondolas!!!!
Great food, helpful staff, and inviting location just beside the Venetian indoor canal. Original and delicious presentations, great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Great bar too, when not closed due to state health policies.
Really delicious food! Thoroughly enjoyed watching the gondolas through the meal.
I’m giving this restaurant 2 stars overall due to the service being good enough & the location being right on the canal in the Venetian. The location is nice as it’s right where the gondolas pause for the riders to experience a performance, so we enjoyed opera singing & accordion playing as we dined. The food, however, was simply edible at best. I got the seared tuna that came out slightly warm & mostly flavorless. I knew we were in trouble as soon as the server proactively offered me more sauce. The slice of potato gratin that came with it was cold, ugly, & tasted old. My husband got the barbacoa which was very dry. He didn’t finish his meal, which is not typical. On top of that, the total for 2 dinners, a beer, & margarita was over $80. You can enjoy the canal & performances without dining here, which would be my suggestion.
Food was amazing and our waitress was amazing!!! Loved the ambiance. Second time I’ve eaten here.
This place can't make up its mind about whether it wants to be a nice restaurant or a fast food joint. They are EXTREMELY annoying on hounding you about your reservation! The tables are just wooden tables and they don't care what you wear for dining here. The food was good, the service or I should say our server (don't remember her name, sorry) was excellent.
Food was good, no complaints but I just could not figure out what kind of restaurant it was. I would be more inclined to call it a "fast food" joint with sit down eating. And for that it is pricey.
I wouldn't go back that is for sure, but it was ok for our first and only visit.
Excellent service and great food
