Cakes & Bubbles at Hotel Cafe Royal
At home on the ground floor of the modern grand Hotel Café Royal, fronting luxury shopping destination Regent Street, Cakes & Bubbles will offer a parade of exceptional desserts set to wow diners, including Adrià’s signature ‘cheese cake’ and a finely curated list of Champagnes and sparkling wines.
Cakes & Bubbles currently accepts bookings from 8 - 30 November 2018 only. On 19 November reservations will be possible for December onwards.
This was our second visit, and once again, it did not disappoint! Fabulous place, exquisite sweet tears and a glass of champagne. What’s not to love?!
The desert at Cakes & Bubbles were outstanding, and our experience was further enhanced by our lovely waitress, Katie (sorry if I mispelled your name!). I thought the prices were quite reasonable based on the quality of the desert. All in all, we had a lovely time and would definitely visit again.
A warm welcome as soon as we arrived. At the time of booking I requested a table by the window which is what we were given. Staff very attentive, good variety of champagnes to choose from and cakes were delicious. Table reservation is for hour and a half which is plenty of time to relax, enjoy your cakes and bubbles without feeling rushed. Thank you Cakes & Bubbles for an enjoyable experience.
Delicate and delicious food in a space that is comfortable and where everyone is proud of the service they provide and the amazing desserts they create. Take you time and enjoy.
Dessert for lunch? That was us, kids in a candy store! We tried a lot of the menu, incredible presentation with great taste to match.
The experience at Cakes & Bubbles itself was nice. The place is lovely and you feel special walking in.
However, my harshest criticism and the reason I was disappointed with my experience is: the menu feels artificially designed around a single dish, the cheesecake. Luckily, the cheesecake was the last thing that arrived because we ended on a high note. Everything else felt like a waste of time, money and calorie consumption (we got the chocolate cork, the ice cream wafers, the flan and the carrot cake).
Nothing was bad per se but if “not being bad” is a good thing, then this place has really missed the mark.
Adding to the disappointment, our waiter came to take over our order three times. He accepted he’d “forgotten and wanted to check” but really, perhaps write it down... He also came over and was clearing the table when we had to remind him we still had 3 desserts left to go.
Honestly, £66 for five tiny mediocre desserts and black coffees...? I would happily pay £30 for two coffees and a cheesecake next time but I will not really rush to come back.
Not much like for desert food cakes and everything around it, but the place is awesome.. A must to
Everything I wanted it to be
I think it's a fantastic idea and I really enjoyed our dessert! The service was outstanding and the setting was perfect.
Went with high expectations and were given a window seat and ordered the desert equivalent of a tasting menu. The windows are huge and you really do feel like a goldfish with people walking along Regent Street looking in at you and taking photos of you. Maybe one way glass coating is needed? The food was very good and clever but not wow amazing and was very pricey. It also included grapefruit - a no for many on statins.
The food was incredible and the whole team were lovely. Will definitely be returning, as the whole experience was perfect.
Fabulous taste experience
The menu downplays the excellence of the creations
The cheese “cake” was so exceptional I had to take one home
Setting is a little dull for the quality of the food which is a shame
The atmosphere is elegant
The staff is kind and they try to manage as best as they can the lack of tables compared to the accepted bookings
Cakes are presented very well, in this the mastery of Adrià can be seen, but not well balanced, with ingredients that prevail over others.
An elegant but touristic place with attention mainly to numbers
Really enjoyed my visit; the staff were attentive but not pushy, the food was incredible (we opted for ordering a few dishes from the menu rather than the tasting menu) and wide range of champagnes (or other bubbles) to choose from. Staff also knowledgable and sommelier offered assistance or recommendations without making you feel forced into taking the recommendations. Overall a fantastic way to celebrate joint birthdays
Amazing experience and the ambience. Cakes were out of this world. 5 stars for waitress Tetle! Very confident and charming service.
Great experience, and Tekle gave us brilliant service. Very friendly and made the whole experience better. Food was also really good.
Cake & Bubbles is a glamorous venue attached to the Hotel Cafe Royal, which is beautiful. They had various champagnes on offer so they definitely catered for this. However, the cakes were not up to standard. We tried 6 or 7 cakes between our party so that we could all try them. The Chocolate and Passionfruit tart had negligible passionfruit taste in it, the sweet pizza had really poor hard choux pastry, the ice cream sandwich was something that we could certainly replicate at home. The only outstanding cake was the cheesecake, which was amazing for someone who loves cheese as well as cake! One of our waitresses was sympathetic to our feedback. I would summarise this venue for people with more money than sense! an underwhelming experience for me.
Cakes & Bubbles, London, United-Kingdom. Well, what can I say? I suppose, when I saw that Albert Adria has opened a place in London and I was planning a trip there, I was excited. This did not ebb when I walked into the Hotel Royal. Beautifully decorated, and let’s not deny, rather grandiose. I was impressed. As we waited for our window table, my excitement was palpable. What took its place, was a bizarre sensation of living in a Spanish fish bowl. The staff are friendly and Spanish. Neither my companion nor I, understood much about the dishes as the lady who served us spoke so fast, that we were unable to follow. The gaping people who walk by you constantly on Regent’s Street, gave us the impression that we were in our very own fish bowl. Our final conclusions, were that the service was adequate, the food too sweet and nothing special. Not for that price tag at least. I have never spent so much on tea, and been so sad at paying. I have eaten in some of the best restaurants in the world. I’ve even worked in a few and I am so disappointed in eating im this overpriced, surgery fishbowl. My recommendations? Add some savory options. Turn the bloody music down. I’m thirty, and I don’t want to listen to techno while I sip tea! Rethink your menu and reduce the sugar. I have so much more to say but I’m so irritated!
Don’t go. Seriously. Don’t. I can’t get my money back. But please, save yours.
If you do want to go. Get the cold chocolate and a bottle of water. You will need it.
Amazing service, beautiful surrounding and the cheese cake was simply heaven
The atmosphere was welcoming the interior design was beautiful, the food was so good, well-crafted and tasty. Special mention to the cheesecake ( I had the gluten-free vesion without the biscuit base) -divine.
Only gripe was the prices. Although they are affordable, the portions (delicious and perfectly formed) were on the small side.
Yes i will recommend other my friends. Nice location, very good food items even i suggest to Albert Adria' to propose salt foods.
This was a lovely afternoon at Cake and Bubbles, an incredible taste experience with friendly and attentive service on top.
Everything was amazing but the cheescake probably one of the best things I have never ate.
Took my girlfriend for a birthday treat. Service was excellent. Ordered afternoon tea for two with a bottle of champagne. The cakes were sumptuous and deliciously light. Our waiter was so attentive that our glasses were never empty. Fabulous treat and highly recommended. We were lucky to get a window seat too with the hustle and bustle of Regent Street in full view with the occasional jealous look from a passer by of our rather exuberant cake stand.
Fun experience for desserts lovers
Great atmosphere and good selection of bubbles.
Had the carrot cake , chocolate corks, the rose , milk and strawberry ice cream wafer and finally the cheesecake who was , I must say DELICIOUS.
Such a surprise , as I do not care for cheese , but then this is cheesecake to another level. Great idea , super light and surprising flavors.
A must try experience for every dessert lover
The most special cheesecake I have ever had.
What can I say. A lovely experience, great staff, and impressive food. The good reputation is deserved.
Modern, exciting take on the pastry! It taste like nothing you know
Wonderful food, great service and a thoroughly grown-up dessert experience. Highly recommend
Deserts were delicious and the service was amazing!
All was fab!
This is quite an unusual concept - a restaurant that only serves cakes and bubbles, so obviously most customers go there for afternoon tea rather than dinner or perhaps for a post theatre dessert and glass of champagne. I was disappointed with the décor - compared to the glorious jewel box of a restaurant in the Oscar Wilde lounge at the same hotel this is a rather functional and slightly drab venue with seating very close together so that you literally rub shoulders with your next-door neighbour if seated on the banquette. Service is impeccable and cakes are ravishingly original and sometimes shocking: the signature cheesecake is literally a brie cheese coated in white chocolate peppered with hazelnut crumbs. A marmite moment if ever I saw one! Our rose sparkling wine from Spain was superb and excellent value at £10 a glass so I would recommend this venue for a relaxing break in a day's shopping spree but perhaps not yet a bucket list item.
We had an amazing time our waitress explained each dish in detail made us feel at home. Nothing was too much trouble We were made to feel very welcome
Called in for a quick coffee and bite. Loved the cheese cake. Coffee and pastry’s were lovely.
Life changing deserts
I have followed this chef’s career and creations with interest so I was excited to try this new champagne and dessert place. Two of my favorite things! Admittedly my expectations were high but I was let down. The room was loud and very generic. Were there flowers? If so, I don’t remember them. The waitress was very sweet and helpful. Service was a highlight. As I don’t like cheesecake which is the star of the show I sought the waitress’s advice and ended up trying two with my very good glass of bubbly. I tried a little frozen coconut and chocolate confection. It is meant to be eaten with the hands but immediately melts in them. Tasty but one light bite. The second one was a chocolate passionfruit mousse tart. Flavors were nice and it was pretty, but nothing I haven’t seen and had before.
Even better than my high expectations. Each dish was beautifully presented, the tastes were intense but also light so that we left feeling happy but not guilty that we had just spent an hour eating cakes and drinking bubbles
For a very special treat I can think of no better place to come and eat dessert, drink bubbles and watch the people on Regent Street pass by. The only down side is the price but that certainly hasn't stopped me coming back! Think dessert tapas, little bites and bigger desserts all perfectly executed and delicious. Service is friendly and talks you through how the menu works. My advice, try almost one kf everything!
I must be missing something. Maybe it's better if you don't have the tasting menu. Thought it was a bit pricey for what you got compared to what you can get in many michelin starred places across town.
