The cuisine upholds the philosophy of new southern Italian dining. With fresh fish and seafood, varied meat and poultry entrees, traditional pasta offerings, the European sense of healthy and balanced proportions is maintained.
The menu is seasonal, and in addition to the selection of superb dishes to satisfy any palate, daily specials are also featured. Dining at Cafe Sapori is simultaneously an evening out, yet similar to eating with a friend who also happens to be a culinary marvel.
The beautiful patio is now open for outdoor dining.
BYOB. Reservations are highly recommended for large groups (four and up) especially on the weekend. For your convenience, free parking is available.
What a lovely setting and excellent food and service at Cafe Sapori! They were very accommodating to my substitutions and everything came out hot and delicious and timely! Thank you for a lovely dinner on your patio! We’ll be back!
Once again an excellent meal
The food was excellent! Top grade!!! They set up the outdoor dining as best as they could. It was quiet and the wait staff as always very attentive. Very enjoyable evening out!
This was our first time out to dine since the pandemic . The owner went out of her way to make sure everyone felt safe . The tables were well spaced in a lovely outdoor setting and all servers wore masks. The food was good reasonably priced . The service was outstanding .
We love this BYO Italian restaurant. My husband and I shared two appetizers (antipasto plate, buffalo and tomato plate). He had the halibut and I had veal piccata. All of our food was EXCELLENT as was the service. Their outdoor deck is now covered with a tent, which provides even more shade than the nearby trees. However, we were disappointed, and even a little uncomfortable, with how close the tables are placed on the deck. They have added a few tables next to the deck which are further apart. But on the deck, the tables are close and customers seem to be seated mostly on one side, rather than spreading out for social distancing. When we go back, we'll ask to be seated at a table with a little more space.
Outdoor setup is great. Don’t even have to worry about rain unless it is raining buckets. Food was good as always...was nice to finally get out for a good meal!
Absolutely outstanding - food wonderful and staff very friendly and attentive!
First meal out since the COVID-19 started. Dinner on their outdoor deck which was nice waiters waitresses and bus boys all had masks and gloves as did the owner when we were seated. Food was quite good, as it always is. My family is a big fan of eating outside, I’m not but you have take what is available...can’t wait for a vaccine so we can all get back to normal.
Cafe Sapori never disappoints! Service is excellent - friendly and professional. The food was outstanding. Tonight’s special chicken rollatini was unique and delicious. I highly recommend Cafe Sapori.
Been here many times since it opened and I’ve had an excellent experience every single time. I highly recommend this restaurant, you will not be disappointed I can assure you! I especially like the patio in the summer, it’s my go to place on a Friday evening after a long work week.
Café Sapori is an excellent choice for authentic Italian food. The menu is varied from old traditional "red sauce or gravy" favorites to adaptations of the favorites, such as artichoke hearts steamed in a white wine sauce with a sausage and ricotta filling.
This dish was awesome, as was my bronzino provencal and our veal paramigiana.
The service is attentive, but not intrusive, and the staff are all very friendly and accommodating.
You should really try this byob. It's right near the Gladstone train station...
Party of four on a Thursday evening. Almost empty but beautiful dining room. Service was attentive with the absence of other diners. Everyone enjoyed their meals. We would return!
Food as always was delicious
When we arrived I asked if they could please not rush between courses ... to which our waiter informed me that there is a second seating and there isn’t much he could do HMMMMMM....
As one waiter was picking our appetizer dishes up there were other servers behind them to put our next course on the table
Felt rushed .... and we are returning customers who have brought many people to this restaurant
We love this place just perfect. Close to home, the food is outstanding.
we dined as a party of 4 with a 6:30 reservation on 2/15. We arrived at 6:22 and were seated promptly. our wine was opened, water poured then we sat and waited and waited until the owner finally came over and asked if we were given menus. When we responded no, she sent someone over with the menus. our order was promptly taken by about 6:40. We waited until almost an hour after we had been seated for our soup and salad to arrive. Those plates were put on the table on top of the butter dishes which we had to ask some other waiter to remove along with the empty bread basket and all of the used beer and soda glasses. We then waited another hour before our dinner came out. In that timeframe, we finished our two bottles of wine, bottles of rootbeer and regular beer which we had to pile into the table side wine bucket because no one in 2 hours came to clear the table, refill the water, ask if we wanted more bread, ect. Only after we asked 3 different waiters and the owner herself when our food would be coming out and only after we mentioned that we were about to walk out did our food arrive at 8:30. The $32 lamb special which was supposed to be medium rare was grey, overdone and the bones were so burnt that they broke when my son picked it up the eat it. When I expressed our disappointment to the owner she kept blaming the kitchen saying that she didnt know what was wrong with the kitchen tonight! when we asked for the check she offered us complimentary dessert but we were afraid that that too would take to long so we went elsewhere for dessert. She should have comped us something off of our check which she did not do. I emailed her that night expressing my displeasure with what was supposed to be an enjoyable dinner out but she has not responded. We will not be returning.
The food was fabulous and the service was top notch.
We arrived to an extremely crowded restaurant. The volume was ear piercing and could barely have a conversation. Service was very very slow. Salads came out in decent time, but we had to wait almost an hour for our entrees, even though we spoke to the server a few times to check on the order. The entrees didn't seem to be a full plateful, as if they were afraid they'd run out of food, so they skimped. After we ate, I had to leave the table to ask for our checks. This was our third visit to this restaurant and each time seemed to be issues with either the food or service. Three times was not the charm, so we're done with this restaurant.
Food was pretty good. Got a dessert and meal to go. I cannot begin to tell you how disgusting and filthy the storage containers were. Running your finger on the inside of them covered it in grease, dust, dirt, grime, etc.
A very busy Valentines night. Dinner was very good and delicious. Will definitely keep in mind for another night.
The food was incredible. The staff very nice but the restaurant was overbooked and the reservation of little importance. We were seated fairly quickly and received salad and appetizers in a timely fashion but the entree took over an hour and we had to wait a little while longer for the check. We plan to go back on a non-holiday evening to gauge the service level.
Good food, lovely ambience with excellent service makes the a terrific place to dine.
Great that it’s a BYOB.
Wonderful experience. Food and service were great.
Since I have been in the restaurant business or related industry all my life, my critiques on restaurants, if I even wrote one, were generally negative. If the atmosphere, food and service were good, that's to be expected in my opinion so I rarely wrote anything.
The other evening my wife and I had our anniversary so I said, "We have never been to Sapori, let's go". She agreed so we went and did enjoy the restaurant 100%. The service led by Peppa was phenomenal yet not pushy. The food, other than the Clams Oreganata was superb. The Veal Piccata and Chicken Balsamico were outstanding. We finished up with a Creme Brulee which was obviously truly "HomeMade"!!
Thank you Matthew & Money (Hosts) for a very memorable evening. We will see you again soon on an ongoing basis!
We have dined at Cafe Sapori numerous times, usually for lunch but also for dinner in the warmer months because the restaurant has a patio for outdoor dining. The prix fixe lunch, that includes appetizer, entree, dessert and coffee, is an incredible bargain at $15 per person, since one of the entrees is an excellent veal dish. Service is impeccable. And the setting is splendid. The restaurant provides a warm and welcoming dining experience, one that is not to be missed.
Had the sea bass special.....it was so fresh and delishes.
This my second time here with my family. The lady who served our table was FANTASTIC--I regret that I didn't catch her name. Service was speedy & attentive, food was awesome (we got the mussels in white wine, fettucine portofino, veal bosciola, ribeye, and then the apple tart), prices were super reasonable. Our server even heard my parents wish me a happy birthday as she passed by, so when they brought out the dessert they lit a candle in it and sang me happy birthday (neither of my parents had said anything to her explicitly!). The main dining room was packed tonight and LOUD, but the hostess gladly seated us in the back dining room with one other party there and the noise level there was perfect. Very very happy with the place, we will be coming back often.
Wonderful as usual
In one word perfect! If I need two, deliciously perfect!
15 ladies luncheon
Professional good service great food
As usual, the food was excellent at lunch, service was impeccable, the dining room is beautiful—with various prints on the walls and fresh flowers on the tables. Overall it was a memorable experience. Every time my wife and I have lunch here, it’s an event to savor. We’re waiting for warmer weather so that we can dine on the terrace.
Every bite was delicious
Nice atmosphere. Great menu. Staff was willing to make swaps based on preferences which was appreciated
Duck was fantastic. Our waitress was attentive without being intrusive, absolutely great dinner and evening.
1st time I’ve had a waiter tell me he has to take a complete dinner order or he’ll get in trouble. Thought that we (4) wolf be rushed but the seem to recover nicely.
Café Sapori is a fantastic Italian restaurant. The menu has a good mix of old favorites, and some great adaptations, as well as some non-Italian favorites that are also expertly prepared.
You will feel welcome from the moment you walk in, and the attentive and efficient staff will take excellent care of you and your party in a very friendly manner.
Hospitality and great food, this is a must try for anyone in/around the Somerset Hills of NJ.
Great food. Excellent service. Very welcoming.
Great local restaurant. We split our time between Gladstone , Florida and the Upper Westside. Cafe Sapori measures up to our favorite NYC restaurants
Restaurant (and OpenTable)Totally Overbooked for New Year’s Eve. Everyone was packed in waiting for a table well after time of reservation. We had to wait 45 minutes to be seated, plus additional time to see menus, order and finally be served. It was cramped and noisy.
