Our waitress was lovely. We sat upstairs and the food was reasonably priced for the quality. Wine was nice also. Would definitely come again and recommend.
Food lacked flavour and was very dry. Had 2 starters and 2 mains and it was all very poor! However, the service was excellent.
Had a great price of sea bass with spinach and some bread. Perfectly cooked. Perfect portion. Great staff. Very good choice for a night at the theatre. It’s location is ideal for many theatres.
Attractive but loud atmosphere. Some dishes were quite tasty but my steak was delivered cool and tough as shoe leather. Very indifferent server. At one point she disappeared for 45 minutes. There are much better dining experiences than this available, especially in this area of London
We chose Cafe Monaco because we needed a restaurant close to the Picaddily Theatre and somewhere that would serve meals at times convenient for an evening performance. The restaurant is attractive and has a first floor giving street views and people watching opportunities which are always fun.
The service was prompt, friendly and very efficient and the food was delicious. I had sea bass which was cooked to perfection.
On Tuesdays there is live music which made me sorry we were going to the theatre!
Early diners are given a 2hr slot so we didn't feel rushed.
I would recommend this restaurant for all occassions, last year we organised a birthday lunch for 24 people and the staff coped really well with the demands of all ages.
A lovely restaurant with a good menu. The food ordered was all lovely, you can choose small plates to share or larger plates. Staff were friendly and attentive and quality of dishes was great. The cocktail list is also worth a mention!
Nice place, but unfortunately very poor food. Price-quality not in sync.
One of the best Sunday Roasts I've ever had - simply delicious!
We had given Cafe Monico a miss as our last visit was poor and we came away with bad experience. This time it felt like normal service has been resumed which is good news. We went on a Saturday night and were surprised to find the upstairs dining room fairly quiet although the bar downstairs was busy - may be Pride weekend and a very busy Soho put people off. Food overall was average to good and service was very friendly and relaxed. The damage was £300 for 4 including service though £150 of this was for drinks. Well we were celebrating 50 years since Stonewall. Having enjoyed ourselves on this occasion we hope to go again soon.
couldn't fault anything, excellent food, my gin was to die for, excellent staff and service. Can't wait to go again
Very nice atmosphere, perfect location if you’re going to the theatre after or before. Lovely staff and food was good too
The friendly staff were very helpful, and had good knowledge of the menu and ingredients. The choice was not huge, but the beef bourguignon was so tender it just melted in my mouth; the linguini with crab and chilli was succulent; and the pappardelle with lamb ragu was rich and generous. An evening enjoyed!
Great food and service. Everything was so fresh. It was a change to have Indian food tapas style
Ambiance and location were great, waiters and service were very good but food menu was disappointing and I did not enjoy much of my thin fish. Main courses menu should be updated and added more choice. Thanks
Hi. thank you so much for your valuable feedback. We are looking at a seasonal change of the menu shortly. we hope to see you soon
Pleasant environment and good value for money despite it being dead centre of Piccadilly Circus. Lovely staff
Hi. thanks so much for your comments, we hope to see you soon
Returned to Cafe Monica for a second visit in i three years. It was a very nice visit 3 yrs ago and our 2019 visited not disappoint.
Service, food and ambience were all top class.
Set menu for £17 two course was lovely. My wife ordered from the main menu and was very pleased.
Would highly recommend
Hi Desmond thank you so much for your wonderful comments. So lovely to read that you enjoyed your visit so much after all this time, we hope it wont be so long until we see you again
A very good pre show dinner venue right on Shaftberry Avenue next door to the Queens Theatre. Good service and while the food was not exceptional it was very good at the price.
Would be happy to recommend it
Thank you for your kind words
FAntastic service! Delicious cocktails. Tasty food, perfect set menu for pre-theatre dining in a throwback setting.
Wow thanks Jade, glad you enjoyed. Our team will be delighted to read this
Perfect location for dinner after the theatre. Warm, friendly and helpful staff.
Food was delicious and great value from the set menu. Only negative - no paper towels in the bathroom.
Definitely recommend and will go again.
Thank you for your feedback, we will ensure to check the toilets more regularly. We look forward to seeing you soon
We arrived early but that was no problem. Service was excellent, quick as required but not intrusive and this was much appreciated. The food was very good, well seasoned and lots of taste, plus the portions were more than adequate. It’s not cheap by any means but we felt the whole ambience, service, and food was well worth the treat to complement the theatre visit next door.
Anne this feedback makes us very happy. Amazing food, service and atmosphere are key for us. Hope to see you soon
I have been a few times. Everything is good but the killer for me is the portion sizes. The portion size are small. They were even smaller last time I went. And to make it worse, one person got a steak portion that was half the size of another portion. It was tiny. So although the location/ambience/service were good, it was extremely poor value for money because it is not cheap. I felt like a tourist being ripped off.
Great place to eat. Friendly, great ambience, and great food.
We had a table upstairs by the window so we had a great view of Shaftesbury Avenue and China Town.
The food arrived quickly and was delicious.
I would highly recommend this place and will definitely go back.
Thanks so much Mo, great to read. See you soon we hope
Lovely restaurant. A great choice for a business lunch. Would certainly go back.
Thank you, see you soon we hope
I always highly recommend this restaurant. However, our experience on Sunday was disappointing. Four dishes we ordered were out of stock.
Sadly the food and service was distinctly average which was disappointing as I’d heard good things some time ago. It’s not terrible, but for the price the food didn’t match up, and small details like no side plates for shared food were forgotten.
We went for a pre-theatre dinner on Saturday evening. I had the steak tartare as a main course and it was delicious. My partner had the burger, followed by an excellent cheesecake with rhubarb. Food is very good, wine is a reasonable price, service was prompt and our waiter was great. We will be back !
Great stuff Patti, hope to see you soon
Perfect location for theatres close to Shaftesbury Ave. This was my 2nd visit having visited it earlier this year. Great Fixed Price menu & cocktails are amazing!
thank you so much for your lovely feedback, hope to see you soon
Lovely restaurant with a wide range of reasonable priced dishes. Loved the balcony table was very spacious with a great view. Staff excellent and food very tasty. Will definitely visit again!
Thanks Kim, hope to see you soon!
It was a good visit to Cafe Monico. My second time visiting the place. It was very quiet on the day, and the service was great.
thank you so much, hope to see you soon for your third visit
Excellent service - very attentive. Good food at reasonable price and plenty of choice.
Service was fantastic however food was slow and cold when it arrived however we could not change it as we were so late due to time it took for our food to come. When we are charged £4.75 for a small plate of green you at least expect them to be at least warm. Plates were cold!
The staff were extremely helpful, attentive and courteous: we had a lovely table with a view onto Shaftesbury Avenue on the first floor.
The overall ambience was relaxed and friendly.
The menu is excellent, the smoked salmon and Linguine were exceptional.
Great choices too on the dessert menu and a wide choice of wines, spirits, cocktails and soft drinks.
What a lovely review, thanks Rich. Hope to see you soon
Restaurant was very nice, the only thing that let it down was two food items, we were the first people in the restaurant . My wife is vegetarian so ordered granola and yogurt to start and was told after about five minutes that it was unavailable so she ordered the fruit salad and it was so small for the price.
We’ve been here a lot because it’s always been amazing. Especially for pre theatre because it is fast service. But today was really slow with not many people in there. We had to ask for our mains to come quickly and the bill at the same time. Food was still great and the staff fantastic, just slow
We went here for a pre-show dinner. We were greeted warmly and shown to a table immediately. the waitress then checked if we were going to the theatre and said she would make sure we were on our way in plenty of time. Service was quick and efficient but always friendly. We had generous glasses of prosecco and the Prix Fixe menu was good value for lovely food. Only comment was the Pineapple Upside Down Cake was not as big as we would have liked!
Would definitely go back again if going to the theatre in this area of town
Pre theatre dinner and we ran half hour late getting there. Staff very helpful and made sure our orders were taken and starters arrived quickly so we didn't have to rush our meal too much. Food well cooked and nicely presented. Attentive service. Nice surroundings and very well located for theatres.
It was our second visit and we were delighted with our window table. The two ladies who greeted us and took our drinks orders were extremely personable and very professional. The drinks and food were very good. The restaurant has an excellent ambiance and is generally beautifully presented.
Very nice setting - excellent food and wine. Table upstairs was very cool and atmospheric American music created good ambiance
Sadly it was a really poor meal at Cafe Monico. I have been on numerous occasions and had great meals but this one was poor.
Terrible service lead to a poor evening. Dragged on and had to ask several times for orders to be taken, wait for plates to be cleared and then get the bill.
Really great date night restaurant; we had a table on the upper level overlooking the bar which was entertaining at times! The food is great, my partner was very close to ordering a second plate of the beef bourguignon it was so tasty! The staff were all very welcoming & our waitress was lovely - the service could have been a bit quicker but it was quite busy which is understandable. Good prices and great background music - only con is the bathroom situation, not very well kept and nothing to dry your hands on.. Would still recommend it though!
