Come and enjoy the warmth of Mexico!
Great place right next to Central Park and AMNH. You have to get the guacamole!
weekend spot, friendly bartender! we love to just sit in bar and eat there!
We love (and will hopefully continue to love) Cafe Frida, but...the Valentine’s Day menu was a disaster. We were one of four tables I heard ask if the traditional menu was available, only to be disappointed. (A more clever/resourceful couple left at that point.) The offerings, none of which we recognized from the traditional menu, were bland and disappointing. I hope to return at some point when the house is back to doing what it does best. As for tonight—yikes...
It was an amazing experience! Perfect for any celebration! The service was great and the food as well!
The prices were too high and the portions were too small. Food quality was good.
Great drinks, fresh food and lively atmosphere. Will definitely dine there again. Service was very good and friendly.
Excellent service, very attentive and friendly staff. The food was excellent overall. The guacamole serving was on the small side compared to other similarly priced restaurants, but the taste was very good.
It seemed that the restaurant was cutting a lot of corners. The wine tasted watered down and we had to order a bottle to be sure that it wasn't. We received 3 pancakes for 2 people. etc. Service was ordinary. Food however was good.
We were 10 people. The accommodations worked out well. The service and food was excellent.
Service was TOO helpful. It felt like we were being rushed out of the restaurant. They literally checked on us every 5 minutes
Food was mediocre and way overpriced. I’m from LA and have no problem spending good money on good food. But this place did not deliver. Lastly, I’ll say the service was poor; the waiter made it seem like it was an inconvenience to serve us.
My wife and I have been coming here for over a decade! This is our favorite spot for Mexican in NYC! The food is really good, the service is great and Carla is the best bartender!
Food was bland. Carne asada tacos tasted like nothing.
My friend who’s family is from Mexico said the tacos were the best tacos he has ever had! I couldn’t agree more! Delicious food, great drinks but small portions! 2nd time there and will definitely be returning soon!
Dined here in a party of 6 with 2 kids, a vegetarian, and a carnivore. Everyone loved it and kept praising the meal, drinks, and experience all night - long after we left the restaurant and went on with our evening.
Literally our fav place to eat! Service is always good, the staff is great, and we always have a good time!
Try the mole! Seriously. It’s a revelation. Margarita was perfect. Enchiladas suizas and plantains and spinach salad were all super. Service was prompt and friendly.
Good food, great drinks, lively atmosphere. Service is very good and attentive.
Excelente atención y la verdad el sazón en los platillos es de lo mejor. Las presentaciones muy bien cuidadas y la temperatura perfecta. 100% recomendable
they changed their menu and was a little confusing at first but still good!!
we like to eat at the bar with friendly bar tendress!
i still miss the salad with the seared tuna from long time ago!
They are so gracious and the food is great!
We ate here for lunch on a snowy Monday. To say that the meal was fair is an overstatement. The food was mediocre at best- it arrived lukewarm and was not tasty at all. My enchiladas were not accompanied by anything- no rice and beans which is almost unheard of. The mole was just average. We asked for chips and salsa and were told there was a $5 charge for this. The service was as lukewarm as the food. With all the great restaurants in NYC, I will not be back. We were especially disappointed as we live in the neighborhood. Such a pity.
I cAme here with my best friend on a date !! Perfect to have a drink and catch up with close friends ! Great customer service and food was great :)
We were eleven people celebrating on the day after thanksgiving. We were wined and dined at Cafe Frida with spectacular food and service
It was a wonderful experience
The host was rather cold and didn't seat our party of 4 until we all arrived, despite the restaurant having many empty tables. There was almost no room to wait, so we kept getting in the way of servers and guests trying to enter and leave.
The food was good, but the fact that rice and beans are extra ($6 each!) at a Mexican restaurant is kind of a deal breaker. When I feel nickle-and-dimed, I'll take my business elsewhere.
After we finished our meal, we felt we were being rushed out. Again, there were many empty tables and no one waiting, so it just seemed unnecessary and unwelcoming.
Would I go back? No.
Food was excellent. I had a reservation for six at 2:30, we got there at about 1:20 and had to wait for 25 minutes. Not bad for a rainy Sunday afternoon. The only problem was that I am in a wheelchair and felt as if I was in the way. The staff didn’tseem to mind.
Great service and yummy food. Loved it all. The coconut flan was the best I've ever tasted.
Food was delicious but we found the seating in the front porch area to be too cold. They were happy to move us but then we were sitting next to a toilet
Great customer service.
Very good Margs and guac. Main dishes very tasty but some can be a bit saucy.
we were a party of 8 and they were very welcoming. unfortunately after serving us drinks and guacamole, the service broke down and it took forever for our plates to arrive and later to have them cleared. everyone around us including other large groups seemed to be served better. we did enjoy the food and drink and only wished that the experience overall could have been improved.
The food and service was excellent we had a wonderful time
The food is always great, but because it’s so small they often make you wait a while to be seated even if you have a reservation.
Table not available at the time of reservation. spent about 20 minutes waiting until one was.
spicey guacamole delicious with chips
chille Reno good
salad with grilled salmon delicious
Made a reservation, but had to wait almost 40 minutes for our table. Once we were seated the service was good, food delicious.
very accommodating. excellent service. always a mob scene & loud but that's not the restaurant's fault of course. food is very good. you may have had better but very good. it ain't cheap but nothing is inexpensive in that part of town. staff clearly is hard working, staying calm and efficient in a crowded chaotic environment. all in all highly recommend the place
The food was delicious. The drinks were perfect. We “closed the place down” and the staff was very gracious about us being there late. They served a beautiful flan for my husband’s birthday and brought a sombrero for him to wear while he blew out his candle. It was lovely!
The aesthetic is a wonderful homage to Frida Kahlo. Highly recommend! We love this place!
Great value in UWS. Been here many times. Great happy hour and many tasty margaritas. Tacos and guacamole are solid and service is attentive and friendly. On occasion on busy nights the food is less consistent, but value for money leaves room for forgiveness when they skip a beat once in a while. Will definitely return.
Food was good . It was a lively and fun restaurant.
