The food was excellent. Nice ambiance and Valet parking.
We’ve been dining at Cafe Formaggio for a few years now. The restaurant was recommended to us by friends when I mentioned that one of my grandchildren was gluten free and we were hard put in finding an appropriate place to eat out with her. My friends had a similar problem until they discovered this restaurant, one of the only ones I know of that has a separate, extensive menu dedicated to gluten free choices, including appetizers and desserts. In addition to that, the regular menu’s offerings are wonderful and all the choices we have made have been delicious and plentiful. The decor and ambiance in the restaurant are charming and the service excellent. We rate Cafe Formaggio 5 stars. A favorite of ours.
WE HAD A PARTY OF 8 FOR LUNCH THOUGH THE PLACE WAS'NT BUSY SERVICE WAS GREAT FOOD WAS EXCELLENT AND WE WERE ABLE TO TALK AND NOT RUSHED OUT.BEEN HERE BEFORE FOR XMAS EVE DINNER AND OTHER OCASIONS ALWAYS GREAT QUALITY OF FOOD AND GREAT SERVICE
Great service . Food delicious. Very loud
I have Celiac and have enjoyed my gluten free dinner here a few times. This time I was glutened and spent the Celine Dion concert in the bathroom, sick as a dog. $170 for a ticket to the bathroom. I don't know if different owner or management but service was terrible and the other diners with me didn't enjoy their non GF dinner. I only ate half my veal marsala because it wasn't good. Thank God I only ate half or I would be in bed for a week instead of 3 days. We were the first group in to be safe from cross contamination but didn't help. Don't advertise separate kitchen areas if not safe for those like me with Celiac Disease. This is not a trend for me, it is my life.
While the salad and appetizer were great the filet of sole was gray aka frozen. The shrimp were mini rocks and completely tasteless. The risotto was far from creamy
Always a great Gluten Free meal. The best GF selection.
My friend treated me to a birthday lunch this Friday -- a lovely, relaxing afternoon there. Although it was the height of the lunch rush hour, we never felt hurried or rushed. Our waiter Lenny was a gem - not only is he a seasoned waiter but so warm and personable too. We felt like we knew him for years. The food was both delicious, abundant and clearly made with finesse. I enjoyed the lemon basil chicken panini and my friend had a scrumptious cavatelli dish with shrimp. Of course I had a birthday glass of Pinot Grigio. We both had coffees and shared one of their amazing desserts. Lunching there was a fantastic way to kick off the weekend.
Used to eat here frequently but haven't been in a while. Shouldn't have bothered going back. Food was decent, except for overly salted vegetables. Service was awful. Waited half an hour for waitress to even come over to our table. Appetizer came right away, but then waited another 45 minutes for food to arrive. I had ordered cavatelli with sausage and broccoli rabe. When food was delivered, the runner said, "We were out of cavatelli, so we gave you penne instead. I hope that's OK." Well... I guess so. Not much I can do about it at this point. I'm certainly not going to wait another hour for another meal to be prepared. Really should have complained at the time, but couldn't imagine waiting around any more for our waitress to try to find a manager. Won't be back.
We were here on Feb 15. Still a set menu for Valentines Day. We had a reservation for 4 but they put 2 round tables of 2 together. Service was mediocre but waiter explained 2 kitchen staff had quit so they were shorthanded. We were patient but despite requests for more bread and butter it fell on deaf ears. Waiter tried to play everything off with humor but after a while it got old. Ive been here before and food and service was excellent. I’ll chalk it up to bad timing with holiday
Good food as always
I will never make a reservation here for Valentine's Day again. It was way too crowded, frenetic and noisy and the staff, due to the fact that the restaurant was so busy, were overwhelmed. I went with 3 female friends and we had to sit at two round tables set up next to each other. Although we weren't looking to have a romantic evening, it was not a nice quiet, relaxing evening. I had a phone message the day before advising that we could only have 2 hrs since so many people were booked. I'd say way overbooked. Although no one rushed us--in fact we were ignored most of the time, which was very annoying. One friend's dinner came out lukewarm and had to be sent back. Her vegetables were mushy as well. Another friend said her St. Peter's fish was under seasoned and underwhelming. Another friend and I were happy with our dinners--eggplant parm and spaghetti--all of which came much later than people sitting near us who had come after we did at 7:00. No one came to see how our meal was and we were never offered parmesan cheese. We had to ask for it. I've eaten here many times and always had a wonderful experience, even more reason for our disappointment. When we left after 9:00 there was still quite a large group of people waiting to come in. Wonder how long they had been waiting?
Just don’t go on a holiday. Food and service not up to their normal standards
As crowded as Valentine’s Day was ,Dan the manager keep everything moving smoothly
Food very good risotto shrimp was excellent as well as baked clams. always a good experience even on a holiday.
Wonderful all around.
Frank is amazing
Tomatoes and mozz app. Tomatoes were hard in the middle. No flavor. Had to ask for salt and pepper, server was very good. Service awesome as usual. Not thrilled with the menu. Def need raw oysters on Valentines day. Will def be back again. First issue ever. Had an early res.
Food was absolutely amazing!!! Great flavor. Beat Italian food I’ve had in a long time
I was looking for a lunch time restaurant in that area to meet a friend 'half way' between our homes. I was a little nervous reading the various reviews, but decided to book Cafe Formaggio anyway. I was very pleasantly surprised. The restaurant wasn't too crowded at the time, so our Servers were very attentive, very friendly and accommodating They were able to adjust a menu item upon request. Price was extremely reasonable for the amount of food served. Would definitely go again and recommend to others.
ordered a Portobello mushroom/mozzarellIa/
tomato tower....arrived without the Portobello mushroom. Waited for a new one to be made. It was a Saturday night so rather noisey. On the pricey side
As usual an excellent meal! Brought 3 friends who've never been there before and not a complaint about the food as expected!!!
This is supposed to be a gf restaurant. My daughter got extremely sick from cross contamination. Very scary. 3 other people that went there on the same night ended up in the emergency room. I called restaurant and spoke to a manager named Lenny. He was very nice and extremely concerned about the situation. He offered to have us back and to treat us to a meal. It sounds wonderful but for my 8 year old with celiac it is terrifying. I am not sure we will return, I will have to see ...
Food is so very good.. I have celiac and the gluten free choices are fantastic.
Food was not good and the service was slow and inattentive. When we asked a server to somehow rectify a bad tasting salad it was totally ignored. The waiter who took our order was nowhere to be found to help us. Also, much too noisy
Always great food !
service was lacking big time server was horrible
food was not the same as we expect from Cafe Formaggio as we always loved in the past
2 out of 6 dinners were not exceptable
Bread was burnt
cheese was never brought to table for which we asked
Drinks were not made correctly
Food and service was excellent
Loved the gluten free menu, service was friendly and helpful and out gluten free guest commented that it was one of the best restaurants he’s been to!
Very safe for gluten free dining and great food. Very noisy but there was a huge kids party going on.
Being that I have to eat gluten free because of me having celiac disease Cafe formaggio is my go to place and it never fails me.
The appetizers were really good and the veal oso buco was very good. Everyone enjoyed the food and they do not rush you.
Good menu, the evening we went the street were much delayed for no apparent reason. Food was good when received. Service was very good.
The service and food was excellent. The gluten free menu was also excellent! Highly recommended:)
New Year’s Eve
New Years Eve. Delicious but extra pricey compared to a regular night.
New Year’s Eve
Excellent food and Service. I really enjoy this place. (The wine could be better for the price per bottle)
Pasta Fagioli was the best I've had since my Italian mother-in-law passed away. Tried it at many other restaurants and none has come close to hers until I tried it here.
Don't go here if you are a vegetarian. There is chicken broth in all the sauces except for the garlic and oil. They finally agreed to make a plain sauce, which I had to plead for... But first they said no, despite me sharing this was done for me previously.... After a lot back and forth they agreed and bright something but it was nasty. My boyfriend ate while I watched. I left starving. Not a good night.
Food was great! Especially the spicy calamari, mussels, and salmon cavatelli - will return soon!
