Cafe El Tapatio
It was busy so felt a bit ignored by our waiter but the food made up for it! So good!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place! Excellent service, food, margaritas. Neighborhood favorite!
Great food and drinks for ladies night
The food and drinks were great, and the bartenders were very nice. However, we had to wait for 10 minutes just to get the attention of the missing maitre d. He ignored us once he came back to the desk even though we were standing right next to him, and he asked a couple farther away from us if they needed a seat. We had to talk to him twice to get his attention which was awkward. We would love to go back but not sure what the level of service would be.
Our local go to
Cafe el Tapatio is like our favoriteMexican neighborhood restaurant! We like it in summer outside or inside in Winter. Food is great and our server did wonderful job!
Fantastic food - love their vegetarian options. Always good service tho some servers can be abrupt when it's busy. Inside is a little tight and loud on a Friday night but a fun atmosphere and worth it for the food! Go in the summer and sit out on the patio.
Loved my mar y tierra (talapia with chorizo sauce)! Pitcher of margarita was good too. Chips and salsa also excellent, nice and spicy for me (although a little too much so for my girlfriend).
Creative drinks, great servers, a cool and environment and a large menu with something for everyone. Had a GREAT burrito plate here, highly recommend!
Dined here with daughter this past Tuesday evening. What a pleasant surprise! Authentic regional Mexican cuisine. We shared a chicken breast served in a Jalisco style and the Jicama salad after starting with freshly made guacamole. Service was first class. I prefer margaritas made only with Patron silver, Cointreau and fresh squeezed lime juice, they did it perfectly. Definitely coming back.
Great food, amazing margaritas. Gets really busy on the weekends and service can get spotty
Love this place !!!
Guacamole was GREAT! It was probably the freshest I tasted. All the food was very fresh and clean taste my. Quality ingredients. I will definitely go back. Can’t wait to taste everything else
One of my favorite places in Chicago! You can't go wrong!
This is my favorite restaurant in Chicago. I try to stop by every time I'm in town. Best food and service around.
Casey was very helpful!
It was so loud that my husband and I were practically shouting to to heard. The music was loud so then was everyone else. Maybe a non weekend day would be better.
Birthday party for my husband. Wonderful place!
Food was great. Service was great. Drinks were good, but not amazing
Still our favorite Mexican restaurant in the city. Great food, service, and cozy atmosphere.
Dinner and drinks were great for Valentine’s Day! We will definitely be back
Solid Mexican fare. I’ve been here dozens of times and always good. It’s a Mexican diner so I don’t understand how people give it 5 stars????
Food and service was excellent. Would definitely dine here again.
Absolutely amazing place! Incredible food & margaritas!
Great for families and lots of flod
It was very crowded so we had to wait about 20 minutes for our table even though we had a reservation. Once we sat down service and food were great.
Amazing food and service!!!
Friendly employees, excellent food, pleasant atmosphere. Had a great meal, even had a chance to chat with the owners!
I enjoyed eating dinner here. The chicken mole was absolute delicious! I highly recommend checking this place out. Make sure to try the Gallina En Mole and the Enchiladas Con Mole! Perfect for date night.
Mom in town. Everything was great. Mole is delicious. Waiter forgot our ceviche but glad he did because the dinners are large and filling.
Nice place. Good food and service.
Long a favorite neighborhood place, it has been fun for us to watch this restaurant grow and mature. Food is consistently good. Service is great and neighborhood friendly.
It is a mid-priced Mexican restaurant, but well worth the extra few dollars. The portions are amble and the dishes are flavorful. It is worth getting a reservation if going on a weekend night. They have a small outdoor seating area in the summer, but can be a bit crowded in the winter.
El Grandioso Burrito lives up to its name and typically gives me two full meals.
It had been so long since I had El Tapatio, I was craving it. Didn’t let us down.
Tapatio is a solid choice for a casual neighborhood spot that serves quality Mexican food. The shrimp ceviche and bellas tacos (veggie tacos with grilled mushrooms) were on point. Service was timely and friendly. Overall pretty chill casual vibe on a Wednesday night when we went, probably a little more animated on the weekends. Definitely recommend if you're in the area.
Food was great. More authentic experience. Great service.
Great food, good drinks but too loud. Great place for a group but not a date night on the weekend. During the week this place not as loud
I’ve been here many times and consistently have the same experience. Amazing food, great service, and a friendly staff! The order is always right and comes out super quick. My husband and I LOVE their mole sauce.
