Perfect for our lunch with dear friends. The staff allowed us to linger and talk as long as we wanted. Lunch was very fresh and was served quickly.
There was a special celebrate France menu. I couldn't eat any of the appetizers and asked to substitute a mixed salad. Our server went to ask mgmt who said no. Ultra disappointing. So i ordered off regular menu and got the $14 mixed salad. What a joke a few greens and a few pcs of tomato, 2 slivers of carrot and some beets. Everything else was fine - salmon, chicken and duck all good.
Excellent menu. Fresh Ingredients. Way too attentive a server
Had lunch outside on a beautiful day. The lobster sandwich was very good, no mayonnaise, just large portions pieces of lobster.
This was the perfect meeting spot for people coming from Brooklyn and Westchester, with good food, service and ambience.
The service is always exceptional and the food is always tasteful. Wonderful location for a business or social meal.
Cafe Centro is very centrally located, offers delicious food, and a good ambiance.
Extremely slow service, although restaurant was fairly empty. We waited to order, and then about half hour to get main course.
Very nice place, service and food were at their usual excellence. Easy to get to -- IN GCT. Kind of competing with a private party so a bit perky.
Very pleasant place for business lunch. Prefix is fun option
It's one of the best places for lunch around. While a bit noisy, everything else is excellent.
I eat at this restaurant once a month and the food is always fantastic. Both me and my client ordered the chicken chop salad. This time was unusual and the salad was soggy and warm. What made an undesirable meal worse, when I told the waiter, in a kind and matter-of-fact tone, he began to argue with me in front of my client. He told me that is was fresh and i must be mistaken. Not cool.
Wonderful lunch! Everything was perfect! Thanks so much!
Server, Bessa, was amazing! Great spot and so convenient!
Really attentive and gracious wait staff who let us linger a long while (there were lots of empty tables at this point) over a late lunch. There was a salad dresing so weirdly sweet it was inedible, and the salad was whisked away and replaced immediately. Great bistro menu, great location, good for lunch meetings, and you just have to accept that the not-low check for the meal reflects the location as well as the excellent food.
I have been going to Cafe Centro for 20 years. My staple there has been the Chicken Chop Chop Salad. Unfortunately, after many years, they seem to have changed the salad, which is now much more cabbage than it used to be, shredded as opposed to chopped, and with a dressing that doesn't compare to what they used to use. Service is still excellent - very fast.
I enjoy your restaurant and often schedule business lunches as the service and food is very good. At this past lunch, I had to return my salmon 3 times-- first time it was overcooked and the waiter even noticed and offered to remake-- and the next two times, the salmon was RAW! Not cooked at all. I ended up watching my colleagues eat while I waited only to have to rush and eat a mediocre lunch delivered late. I wanted to let you know as this has never happened before. I will try you again as I'm sure this was not a typical experience.
Food good. Service was indifferent. Had to repeatedly look for waiter. He was disappointed when we decided not to have a starter.
Way too expensive. I wish they will reconsider their prices and/or the menu to ensure there are some lower priced options. I had a salad and a glass of Prosecco. It cost $53 dollars - think about that! This is highway robbery.
The filet was amazing. The onion soup and coq au vin had under developed flavors but were good. The oysters were rather small. The desserts were stars of the meal. The portions were generous too although I would have liked smaller portions with a bigger flavor punch. Exceptional bar, every cocktail was superb. I can’t glow enough about the service, however. Both the waiter and the management team obvious had a real desire to make the evening special, even providing a complimentary appetizer of lobster risotto.
Great service location and perfect atmosphere for an adult business lunch. One of the few restaurants with no background music - which I love.
Food is good not great. Great and they get five stars.
Having frequented Cafe Centro many times my disappointment this time was only with the food. The ambiance was excellent as always as was the wait staff. However, the lettuce in my salad appeared and tasted old and the tuna was tough and lacked flavor.
Croque madame was delicious!!
Great location for those going in and out of grand central.
Very good service & food is good. Thank you!
Really good restaurant. Main complaint was that despite my being very specific in how I wanted the food prepared, it did not come out that way. Happened another time as well.
Had a lovely and leisurely dinner with friends. Service was excellent and food delicious. Very accommodating to dietary restrictions. My only suggestion would be to have a better quality chamomile tea.
The waiter was pushy for anything beyond entrees and the food was fair with smaller type portions. The salads were very small for entree size options. My salad was called a Cobb Salad but there was nothing cobb salad about it. And very small amounts of chicken. My friends asked for blackened chicken and the waiter never came back to let us know they did not have blackened. They actually just put a bunch of black pepper on it. We felt rushed when leaving and we were having a business meeting (as most do at this venue). Very disappointing experience.
given a beautiful table by the window with lots of sunlight and the most delightful waitress started the lunch on the right foot.
Entree's were delicious and the waitress continued to be a plus!
Four for dinner on a Wednesday: The food was dependably very good, but the service was a little spotty as it was a full house, and the noise level was a bit high. Usually a very good choice in the GCT area.
Great food, superlative service!
I love going to the restaurant for lunch and for drinks after work. Sometimes it can get loud during the lunch time business crowd.
Lunch at Cafe Centro is busy and LOUD; not recommended for quiet visits at this time of day.
Wonderful food, excellent service, lovely patient server! Will be back soon!
This is a fine place for lunch, the food is OK for lunch and the location is super convenient. But every time I try Cafe Centro for dinner I am disappointed. The menu is odd and the food seems to come from a different kitchen. It is a lovely place, the tables and booths are comfortable and the noise level is low. I wish they could break the midtown code for "dinner" -- it would be an awesome locale for meeting up with friends who commute via Grand Central or for a relaxing meal ahead of the theater (without the rush and press of the pre-theater crowd.) Very few people here on a Thursday night at 6:15 -- so I assume management shares my wish.
Great location for meeting friends coming from the upstate and CT burbs. The ambience is lovely, the food great, and the service superb. Despite crowds I’ve always found good seating for conversation, which is so impossible in many “hot” spots in this town. If you order the moules, it’s enough for two - but delicious!
Cafe Centro is always a great choice. particularly for lunch. Very convenient for those of us that take the train in and out, good service and nice menu. I like the ambiance and there is an outside option during the warmer weather.
Great service. Broad and diverse menu. Convenient location near grand central.
Consistently good. Attentive and prompt service.
Poor service once we got food . Manager was very rude.
Omelette watery Atmosphere lovely
