I booked this restaurant for my boyfriend’s birthday dinner. We had viewed the menu on the Hyatt website & was surprised to say the least that the actual dinner menu we were offered once seated in the restaurant was quite different. We were told the menu had changed but had not been updated on the website. Interestingly we were allowed to order off the menu, unfortunately the food was average & over priced for the standard we were served. To top it all off, we were double charged on a main meal! The staff were friendly enough but unfortunately this is not enough to encourage me to return.
We have been here on a number of occasions and it never fails us. The food was great and our waitress for the night was friendly, helpful but not intrusive.
Felt rushed as presented with a bill for the food before even finishing main course. Waiting an extraordinary amount of time to order initial drinks. Had to go up and ask for some assistance .
When leaving to pay, was almost chased out by waiter as because we were not hotel guests them almost wanted payment upfront. With this being the case, we only ordered one drink for the whole night and then to be presented with our bill when not even started main course.
Something to consider
Table of 4 for lunch Friday buffet. Good food, plenty of it. Variety of selections. Downside was no roast lamb, only pork. Nice friendly service at front desk and behind the servers. Nice deserts. Could be little cheaper for lunchtime but overall good experience,
Very good food and service. Very welcoming maitre d'. Felt at home. A lovely experience.
Well received on arrival and table near window as requested ; as both Gluten Free choice limited but both found most enjoyable meal of Barramundi with Champagne on the house due to previous visit which was most appreciated and enjoyable white wine to go with the meal..staff took good care of us and replenished water glasses frequently. Very enjoyable occasion
The food needs to be labelled so we know what we are eating. The service was poor as we had to wait to be served for our coffees. Lack of waitpersons in general. The cheese platters had no cheese knives. Very unorganised for a high tea when time is very limited.
I was extremely disappointed. It was for our 10th wedding anniversary and there was no buffet. Just a very drab looking area with no display of food to dress up the place. We only realised as we got there that the buffet was only on the weekend. The a la carte menu was very basic. We did not stay. We left immediately.
Loved the attentive service particularly the staff helping my children choose from the options! The lovely Mother's Day treat plate was very much appreciated by my Mum too. Food was all delicious. Thanks for a great meal and experience!
Excellent food and service. Excellent choice of food. In fact too many which made our choice very difficult. It would be nice if coffee is included in the price.
Excellent food, but was let down by the waiter service or lack thereof.
Servers behind buffet were very accommodating, but the process to get seated, water, order a glass of wine was just hard work. There were too few waiters to be honest.
Even though we booked and the place was 40% full we were still seated practically on top of another couple so we could hear each others conversations and examine their dishes in minute detail. Was plenty of other tables but why we were crammed in is anyone's guess. Forget ordering a'la carte as the couple next to us had to wait 15+ minutes just to order. Go for the buffet to get fed.
Food was fantastic. Roast beef was to die for. The food is great id go back for that, but we warned to get everything you need up front before the waitress disappears off never to be seen again.
Unfortunately this visit was a disappointment for me. I had visited the Cafe 2 years ago with my family and we had a fantastic time! This time around, I find that the food choices have been reduced, to the point where I found myself bored with what was offered. Don't get me wrong, the food was presented and cooked well. But it's food that I can cook at home. And I'm no chef! I never used to get to the hot food section in the past, always hovering around the seafood and cold food station. Now it's just... *yawn*
The dessert station is always a win!
Also, it seemed that there was a cold breeze coming through. It did not make sense unless the aircon was on. It was not required on a cold Sat night!
Amazing staff great food definitely world class all up amazing
Even though the wait staff were excellent at their job and very friendly, the lack of them was disappointing! Having only one to serve a high volume of tables and guests in the busiest time of the night was unfair for the staff. We had to wait long periods of time to get them to the table to ask for assistance or to order our beverages. However, the food was of exceptional quality and was thoroughly enjoyed by the whole table.
Foods and service are good. Feel warm and welcome by the staffs. Will definitely go and dine in again.
A lovely dining experience, with friendly service and a welcoming ambience. It would be so good though, if tea, coffee was included in the overall price, as these drinks make the experience quite expensive. It would be better value for money.
The seafood selection was reasonable, although not as good as in past years when oysters were plentiful. The service was appalling. At the end of the meal we wanted to order coffees but no one came to take our orders. After repeatedly raising our hands to catch one of the servers' attention, no one bothered to look our way, and if they did, they deliberately ignored it. I waved a napkin to catch a server's attention, the manager saw it and tried to get someone to serve us to no avail. After another 10 minutes of being ignored I saw a waiter on his way somewhere and called out across the room to him. He reluctantly came and took our orders. All this took 45 mins. Totally disgusted and will not be coming back to this restaurant again for average food and even worse service.
Went to the Christmas Buffet. Paid extra. Then told at cooking station, no Turkey nor ham. They’re on alternate nights. This was a Thursday night just prior to Christmas. So we had paid for a Christmas Buffet, but were only served roast beef/pork normal menu.
Our Granddaughters 21st birthday dinner was very enjoyable with the special touch of a small cake on a lovely decorated plate with a candle. We were a bit disappointed that tea and coffee was not included in the price, this would have been a lovely finish to a delicious dinner.
This was a very ordinary experience. We took the festive lunch option which offered, among other things, seafood, turkey and cranberry sauce and honey glazed champagne ham. The food was of poor quality and offered little choice. There was NO ham whatsoever !! Ambience awful and under/staffed. Per head price of $60 was a total rip off !! Won’t be back.
Waiting service was very casual had to ask twice for things. The front desk people rude. The dessert lady was also very rude nor willing to do fresh and not a people's person.
It was my boyfriends mum birthday,we pick Hyatt cafe for him femily. I booked the table a month early but the table was separated. We was waiting for 40 mins to drink and food wasn’t fresh specially the salmon..
My boyfriend and me went there few times and there always good that’s the reason we chose for his mother birthday but we won’t go again! By the way the price changed more than normal because Christmas coming ‘next’ month but the information didn’t change online or when we booked no one tell anything.
Have always loved The Cafe at the Hyatt...but slowly but surely it’s going down. Sorry! Now no prawns or crab or fresh muscles..now it always seems there are never enough staff to order drinks . I used to love the sweets section but now that’s very basic....meringues were the size of the palm of your hand, then just over the size of 50 cents ..last week 10 cent size. So sad, very sad. But no oysters or crab...Saturday night?... sad. The head waiter is always ready to help with quality service. Now he looks out of place....lots of empty table Saturday night and I have never seen that before. Hyatt don’t lit it go...bring it back! It used to be so special and a great place to go, now I wouldn’t recommend it at all
Venue good but not so all of the food.
Cold selection - smoked salmon good. Cheeses - small but reasonable selection.
Hot station - no list of what was on offer so had to ask about most things. One guests lamb very fatty. Vegetables OK.
Deserts - reasonable choice.
It was an adequate buffet rather than an abundant one.
Food was good, but there was a limited selection. Staff were all helpful and very attentive.
Only negative was there were no labels/placards to indicate what each dish was, otherwise we had a very good evening!
Food tastes all great but need more variety of foods
If you add much more menus, pretty sure hyatt buffet will be the best out of all buffets in perth.
And please add soft drinks in your menu such as coke, fanta, sprite ( in big bottles like atrium has)
And the juice you have which is just a small glass is too expensive.
Others are great.
I took three family members to lunch, and the occasion was enjoyed by all. There was a very good selection of food, which was well presented. Hot foods were hot, bread was crisp, and seafood and salads were fresh and appealing.
We enjoy the relaxed dining opportunity
The variety is adequate and we don't over eat but still enjoy the flexibility of then buffet
The deserts are terrific and serving size allows us to sample several
Overall still a great experience.
It was Christmas Eve, we were greeted with a smile and directed to our table.
The wine was bought swiftly and our water glasses filled
I New the drill as I have been going to the Hyatt since 1988. I went to the seafood
And filled my plate.
I never leave without trying the delicious pate with crunchy bread yum.
The hot food was amazing leg ham, turkey, lamb, fish and much more. Hot vegetables
Even pizza etc etc etc
The desserts had every thing. I always have sticky date pudding with a dash of cream and lots of fresh fruits like cherries, watermelon, rock melon etc
I made my booking via Open Table and received 3 email/text message confirmations, however when we arrived, the restaurant didn't have our booking and therefore seated us at an out-of-the-way table that looked like it was for waiting.
Our dinner was a special Christmas event and I booked the Hyatt specifically for its Christmas ambience but the lobby had no decorations (it usually has lovely ones)!
The food was ok but nothing special.
There was not enough staff so we waited too long between drinks.
They closed at 10.00pm on a Friday night despite advertising being open to 10.30pm.
Quite a nice selection for a buffet dinner. Plenty to eat, and quite reasonably priced
The restaurant did not seem as good as it was when we went several years ago
The food on offer was nice but the selection was limited
All of the staff, both waiting and cooking, where excellent - very helpful and seems inetersted in serving you
Chefs were good, friendly. Food was good. waitress should ask before clearing plates away. need more variety bigger buffet
Every food that we tasted was so good but wouldn't mind have more veriety
No oyster, sea food is very ordinary (crabs, prawns, mussels) you can have this at any buffet restaurant. Limited choice on hot foods. Salad is old.
This used to be the best buffet in Perth, now just and ordinary buffet restaurant.
It was great catching up with my sister and the good food was a bonus .
Haven't dined here for many years and we were quite impressed this time. The choice of food for the dinner buffet wasn't huge but what food they did have was excellent quality. The dessert range was bigger though and again of excellent quality .One thing that was missing was that there was no soup on offer.
