The ambiance was very cool. The service was very good.
Avoid this place, the food was mediocre and overpriced
Service was slow and surly and the manager was just plain rude
Great service. Great food. Would definitely dine here again.
The service and food at the butcher and banker is without a doubt a 5 star restaurant. Compliments to the chef
Great food and atmosphere! My friend is a very "picky" enter and enjoyed her selection. Our waiter was very nice and patient. The bread is just wonderful and the veal chop is one of the best I've had. Thank-you!
It was good nothing great a step or 2 down from capital grill, keens and franks steaks on Long Island. Limited menu no lobster available to add with your steak. Loved the setting and noise level you can have a conversation with. It’s a place to go if you’re seeing something at the garden
Great place to eat. Food and service was amazing. The restaurant setting was very impressive.
My experience was that this is a medium-quality steakhouse. And given the high prices, not a great value. Next time I'm in this neighborhood, I'll look for other restaurants.
One of the best dining experiences in NYC. Top quality service, almost as outstanding as the food. Highly recommended.
Everything excellent except for the music! Very expensive though! Waiter was excellent. Take home containers need to change. They leak and don't fit in the bags.
Early dinner to catch a 7p show at The Garden. Walked into this old bank vault and loved the ambience. Hostess was attentive. Wait staff appeared to be top notch and they were. The problem was The Food. I ordered the Filet Mignon Tartare - it was presented on a plate like a pile of dog food garnished with large circles of radishes and onion rings and served with Ortega taco shells as the receptacle - seriously...it was so bland and ugly that I felt sorry for it. Zero salt....My main course was the Black and Blue Tuna Filet - again - zero seasoning - and it was tough. The shining star on the plate were the thick cut Knueske bacon strips - but why they were paired with supposedly sashimi glad tuna - could not tell you...the succotash (lima beans and corn combo) again no seasoning - but I did eat all of it because I was hungry! (having only dabbled with my appetizer...) My husband had the wedge - the bacon bits were under done (not nice and crispy) and his scallops were garnished with foie gras that was only grilled on one side. We did enjoy two bottles wine and scooted over to MSG and picked up a box of popcorn and a pretzel. So disappointed especially have read Trip Advisor reviews...was it a bad night? Was the chef out ill and someone was pinch hitting? Do not know …. Suggest a hard pass on this...
We love everything, the cappuccino was very yummy.
Food was definitely yummy and the service and ambience were lovely! Worth checking out.
Steak was not very good
Good scotch list, limited wine list, excellent food, interesting restaurant with the big safe
This is a stunning venue that puts out a superior product. The bar is well stocked and cozy, the wine selection is limited but spot on when paired with your meal. The oysters are fresh, the shrimp large and as an appetizer are a great lead into the Bone in Cowboy Rib-eye (rare) with roasted garlic on the side, the perfect main course.
Interesting place, the average rating for the food, the steak was OK, but not anything special
Food and staff are excellent!
Word of warning though, bring your passport if you’re visiting from abroad as they don’t accept driving licenses.
The worst dining experience I've possibly ever had in NYC.
We loved eating here with friends in the vault. Only open egg or dinner after 4p. The waiter and staff were very attentive, explained dishes and did not rush us. A little on the high side but not the highest we've experienced in NYC, and worth it. We would definitely go back here again.
Possibly the best find we've discovered in years. Located in a former bank (you can even eat in the vault itself), we came in on a Saturday evening and were delighted to be able to hear ourselves speak. It was charming, beautiful to look at and pleasantly quiet.
Everything we ate was cooked to perfection, from the filet mignon sliders to the duck steak; the duck fat potato cake was a bit too peppery. And while we thoroughly enjoyed our service, the waitstaff were a bit quick to swoop in and grab plates. But those are small quibbles. We really loved it here and will certainly be back for all the things we didn't have room for.
For what it’s worth, I was very disappointed with the quality, and ambiance. The most shocking aspect is the extremely poor service (mainly from our waiter) especially since we came here to celebrate a birthday. I would not recommend anyone to ever come here. It quite a shame I have to go to this length to write this. But you live and you learn.
was amazing food and worth the $$. We enjoyed drinks, appetizer, entree and dessert and can not complain about any of it.
Lovely experience in the bar/restaurant.
Wish the staff had informed us that the restaurant was closing prior to bringing us our check given that we wanted one more round of drinks.
Yana mixes some great cocktails and the food was good and plentiful! We were talked into the bacon and did not regret it for one second!!
Fantastic space. Good food. Attentive service. Will visit again.
Service and food were outstanding. I will go back next time in town
Great service, good food.
My wife and I were looking for a good restaurant to celebrate/commiserate the last evening of our lovely holiday in USA and Canada before flying home the next day and, by golly, did we find it 😊 Service was great, food was grand, ambiance splendid - we had a terrific dinner and a very pleasant evening.
It was very good! It was the best meal we have had this trip! They even had sweet tea!
Okay atmosphere-- didn't realize this was essential a "hotel restaurant." Wish the service was more attentive for the price. Requested to sit in the vault, was denied.
They shouldn’t have big parties outside of that room that fits big parties, it was so loud
A good friend and I ate hear last Saturday prior to the Joshua Ruiz fight at MSG. I may have had a better meal in my life, But I can't remember when. The service was quick and receptive. Our waiter was outstanding and spoke with confidence of his food knowledge. This is nitpicking but a more comprehensive list of their distilled spirits would be great; i.e their list comprised their Scotch, Bourbon and Rum. Tequilla wouldve been nice to see. Also they could add a few more Bourbons above the mid range level. All and all my buddy and I have an amazing experience here and will asbolutely return.
Great service, intimate space, fun eating in the old bank vault.
Loved it hshdhdjdhdhfjdjfjfndnjf
I ordered steak medium rare, and it came out medium. My friend had filet mignon and was a thin meat; usually it comes out very thick. Drinks were good; shrimp cocktail excellent. Prices a bit high for the caliber.
Great place for my girlfriend’s birthday
Juan Miguel took amazing care of my husband and me. We were in town for our wedding anniversary and chose Butcher and Banker based on a friend’s recommendation and were not disappointed! From the moment we sat down Juan Miguel was attentive and helpful. We asked for several suggestions. We were torn between oyster choices; he preferred the Blue Island and we loved them! The wine list was daunting with so many wonderful selections. He recommended the Flanagan Cabernet. It was one of the best Cabs we have ever had and paired perfectly with the delmonico we chose. After dinner, we were contemplating a digestif. He recommended the Dapper Banker, which my husband had to start the evening and enjoyed very much. We opted for a simple shot of The Balvenie Caribbean cask, but I’m sure we would have enjoyed his choice! Throughout the evening were more than looked after. We can assure you, we will be back!
There are plenty of expensive steakhouses in midtown that know how to cook a good steak unfortunately Butcher and Banker isn’t one of them.
Not only that but the staff have no clue about the menu and have a difficult time recommending items other than the porter house. Avoid this place like the plague! This is a picture of my medium cooked steak! (Rare)
