Great food and service as always! However, the table was literally in a busy thoroughfare of staff walking briskly up and down millimeters from the table. My feet on a couple of occassions strayed outside the tiny confines of the table and I nearly tripped up a couple of staff. The location of this table definitely adversely impacted the enjoyment of our dining experience. I should have learnt my lesson by now, and always request a nice table for a special occassion, whether the occassion is special or not.

Had a great dinner at Brown Sugar, would highly recommend! We had the tuna starter followed by the lamb and fish pie with chocolate fondant for dessert. The highlight of the meal was definitely the fish pie, it had an amazing depth of flavour while still managing to be quite a light dish. That said the other dishes were all brilliant too and the fact that it's BYO also meant that we could bring a really nice bottle with us for a fraction of the price. The service was really good, staff were attentive without being intrusive and the free brownie at the end of the meal was a really nice touch.

Brown Sugar is more than one would expect from a small neighbourhood restaurant. The fact it is always crowded is proof of the exceptional position it holds - it is very casual and the room is fairly rough, the waiting staff are all fairly relaxed but efficient (part owner Lianne and manager Steve offer a great front of house welcoming). The food naturally is what it is all about and - top quality from a top quality part owner chef). Serving sizes are generous

The fish pie is famous and the roasted tomatoes spaghettini is better than any pasta with tomatoe sauce anywhere in the world. BYO is ok, and the little chocolate brownie that comes with your coffee is the small reminder of how good Brown Sugar is!

I never usually review restaurants, but I have to review Brown Sugar. We went on one of the busiest days of the year - City2Surf! We had booked a table in advance and as it was understandably busy, we had to wait a while for a table. But I didn't mind as the staff and management were amazing. They were clearly run off their feet, but took the time to greet everyone with a smile, and made sure guests were looked after. I had an amazing Bloody Mary with my lunch, and can recommend the Black Stone Eggs! Will go there again.

The best restaurant in Sydney. I'm hesitant to leave this review because I don't want everyone to find out about it! Staff are excellent, food is first class, atmosphere never disappoints.

Whilst the food is very good this place gets let down by unacceptable service. It was so slow we only managed to get a main course in our 2 hour booking. We were told there want enough tone for desert but then waited 20 minutes for our bill to be collected. When we complained there wad not even an apology. We had friends from overseas and were honestly embarrassed.

Usually I love Brown sugar but I made a mistake going on Valentines Day. I did know there was a set menu but when I rang I told them I don’t eat meat but my husband does and was told its ok as there is fish for me and lamb for him but when we got there we were told that you share each dish. We paid $65 a head which is fine if we didn’t have to pay extra so that I could have fish. They still charged me the $65 each plus full price for the fish pie. Our chocolate fondant arrived which I usually love but it was burnt and the chocolate didn’t even flow out as it was so over cooked All in all we were very disappointed. Next time will know not to go there for Valentines Day

Our waiter wasn’t friendly at all and when asked if the fish pies were big enough to be shared with sides he said no, it’s a main dish, this wasn’t the case, we could have easily shared between 2 and ordered sides and then maybe had room for dessert. Disappointed with his service

Our waiter was so attentive that he noticed I was not overly enjoying the glass of rosé I had ordered which he promptly replaced with a delicious one. The food was beautifully present but even more importantly tasted delicious. A great dining experience- I will be back!

I never leave reviews but this was outstanding. The best ragu I’ve ever had and my family agreed the best lamb they’d tasted. We flew in from the U.K. as a family and went here for supper on a friend’s recommendation.

While I've eaten at Brown Sugar multiple times (and liked the food every time), I thought that the chef was especially on top of his game this last visit (and the rest of our six person party agreed). We ordered the majority of the menu and shared, so had a chance to try pretty much everything. The Entrees were especially good, with the sardines, scallops, and the cauliflower leading the way. The Fish Pie was outstanding and the steak was excellent. And, although the wine list is very good, it was also great to have the option to BYO so that we could share some rare international gems with friends. I would highly recommend this neighborhood winner to anyone in the Bondi vicinity (which can be more miss than hit on the restaurant scene) and to anyone who might not have been in a while.

Excellent Bondi Local spot. The food is exceptional with service to match. The fish pie has a reputation for a reason! And being tucked away off the main drag in Bondi makes this lovely place all the more charming.
