Brown Brothers Milawa Vineyard
Food outstanding, service excellent and well paced. Noisy though.
I had the tomato entree very underwhelming, didn’t finish it had no flavour and too acidic needed maybe some feta cheese and maybe some procuito to add a salty aspect! My wife had the scallops for entree they also were underwhelming so many other great ways to serve scallops! My main was the dory well cooked but way to small a serve for a male adult l left feeling hungry and like I was ripped off!My wife had the lamb and that was the only winner for the day
Fantastic, great food, great service. Great value.
Lovely food with friendly service.
It was a little noisy but otherwise an overall great experience. Will definitely be back
We enjoyed our lunch with the matched wines
The waitress we had was cheerful and very helpful
I can not remember her name but she lives in Wangaratta
Kevin the drinker waiter was a very nice person
I believe you are very lucky to have the staff you have
The food and the presentation was at a very high standard, My wife and I have travel all over Europe and the UK your food is to a equal standard
We stayed in the RV parking area
Thanks to brown brothers winery and staff
A great place to spend a special occasion with friends. The food was excellent as was the attention and approachability of the staff.
As usual, top quality food service and attention to detail. Friendly and aware staff providing seemless service. Highly recommended.
Wonderful service and delicious food! Wine matching with meals was perfect ! Will definitely be back!
We really enjoyed the long lunch and sitting out under the big old trees to enjoy our cheese course to finish.
The food and service were outstanding I highly recommend this restaurant
Steak item should be on the menu. It used to be. Food arrival at table is too slow, and it wasn't busy
Service was good. Our butter didn't come. Great restaurant, but room for improvement.
This was my first visit and I was impressed, so much so that I gave a tip, will be back for sure
Food lacked. Mains were amazing but entree and desserts were lacking in flavour. Really quite bland
Wines were matched well.
Presentation of food was beautiful.
Staff were excellent
Original , and very tasty food thanks. Our party had the duck, lamb, Dory for mains and each thoroughly enjoyed the food.
Entrees ordered did not include either of the raw offerings (crudo/tartare) and we all were very satisfied with the parmesan custard and stacciatelli offerings. The sides of roast potato and garlic, and parmesan/salad were very generous indeed. Roasted Garlic, yum.
All wait staff were competent and very helpful and good to hear they are trained with requirement to have sampled the food prior. The2014 shiraz was a cracker. Energetic noise? Read loud.
Thanks to kitchen staff who presented such a variety of quality food to a large volume of customers.
All the dishes I selected were beautifully presented, delicious, and satisfying. I had the Kingfish entree, the lamb for main course and the lemon curd with berries for desert and all accompanied with well balanced wines to stimulate my tastebuds.
I found the dining space quite noisy because I wear hearing aids and it is very difficult to isolate the conversation from the background noise.
There were three of us for lunch and we all had different entrees and very much enjoyed our choices. My husband had the duck for main and was very happy with this choice. He had cheese after the main course and enjoyed the Brie and blue along with the accompaniments on the cheese board. My sister-in-law had the cheesecake and was impressed with the texture and flavour.
The staff who attended our table were exemplary; attentive without hovering, friendly and very competent at their task.
Service was fantastic and the the Slow lunch with the set wines for each course was fantastic the temperature was over 40 Degrees C that day so it was very Hot inside and out. Had a great time there and will come back there and also tell all our friends.
I'm a long time member, visitor and diner at Brown Brothers. Have always enjoyed the experience until recently. Disappointing to see the introduction of a public holiday surcharge that was near on 10% of the bill, especially when it has already become quite an expensive dining experience where it is now around the $100 per head if you have the small glasses of matching wines (which you are going to do because that's why you go after all).
Gone are the days of the complementary glass of sparkling on arrival for members - now $10 per glass. I was also overcharged by nearly $40 on my last visit and only quickness of eye, noticed the discrepancy... this on top of my previous visit where I was incorrectly overcharged for a whole bottle of Grand Tokay, instead of the single glass that I had ordered.
All extras such as sides are at a greedy $9 - also not great for the bowl of mainly rocket leaves with a only few slices of pear.
The experience is becoming more expensive on every visit and now with the introduction of the surcharge that I did not get any prior warning on has made me rethinking future visits. Time to start looking elsewhere I think for more reasonable alternatives.
On closing..... What is with the introduction of the hefty $10 premium wine tasting fee... $10!! It is starting to look a lot like a Greedy Grab for Cash at Brown Brothers - Very, very Sad indeed!
My wife and I dined at Brown’s on Boxing Day. The staff were tentative and friendly. We had the slow lunch which consisted of three entrees one main and dessert with matching wines. The lamb rump was extremely tender and delicious. Definitely recommend this venue.
Had a lovely Christmas Eve lunch. They were able to add another two to the table at the last minute which was fantastic. Great food with wines to match. Was very enjoyable.
We often eat at Brown Brothers Patricia’s Table and this time we enjoyed the slow lunch. The food was delicious and nicely presented. The matched wines were perfect and our table by the window with an outlook to the garden could not have been better. Our servers were friendly throughout but I felt they could have done better. Our meal at $118.00 per person, the Epicurean Club members’ price, was not cheap. I would have liked each of us to have received a menu listing each dish and it’s matched wine or alternately, and better in my opinion our server could have told us what each dish was as it was presented. That aside, we enjoyed our meal and will definitely return for more.
Lovely friendly staff, beautiful meals and such a wonderful atmosphere. Plus came home with some great wines.
Amazing food, great quality. Very professional service.
Enjoyed the food very much. The kingfish entree was beautiful and so was the lamb. It was so tender and juicy. Compliments to the chef. Service was fantastic too. Very friendly staff.
This was an ideal venue for a special outing. The meals and accompanying wines were excellent - we needed the side orders though as the meals were reasonably small. A buzzing place when we visited which upped the noise level. The wait staff knew the menu and were very efficient and courteous. A great place to relax and introduce family and friends to what Victoria's north east region can offer in fine wine and dining in a beautiful country setting.
First class service, amazing food and beautiful wines all in one of the North East Region's most stunning settings.
It was our anniversary and they made it a very special day.The service and the staff were excellent with the food outstanding.
Excellent everything. If the doors were open it would have been perfect.
Lovely ambience, good smart staff and excellent food. What's not to like?
Brown Bro’s is always a pleasant experience. We took visiting American friends yesterday, and as usual, the food was excellent, with all commenting positively on the presentation and taste.
Unfortunately, this was offset by very slow service. We found it difficult to gain attention after the main course was ordered, and had to go to the counter to get the bill and pay.
The coffee was not good.
Amazing food and loved sitting out in the garden after our lunch! Super friendly and accommodating staff!
One of the few restaurants that has a private landing strip that lets you fly in for a nice lunch. A great service and an excellent lunch. It’s even worth driving to. I am told the wines are great too. My guests enjoyed it all. Also a stunning vineyard with lovely rose gardens.
A quiet day at the restaurant. Service attentive, food very good and wine prices very reasonable. We would dine there again when in that part of the world.
Great food, wine and atmosphere! Will recommend to friends.
Lovely helpful staff, great spacious dining room serving excellent food.
Beautiful duck and accompaniments. Great position next to window and the table service very friendly. A nice ambience on a beautiful day.
First time we have visited with the new Chef . Food was excellent, service very attentive, lovely location and view over the gardens
Matching wines complemented the food . A wonderful lunch to remember Thank you Brown Brothers
The setting is wonderful, the gardens well maintained. The cellar door is fabulous and staff friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. The casual restaurant is fun, Patricia’s is lovely. It’s a very relaxed and casual setting but offers great service and superb food with wine at cellar door prices. We loved it and best of all it catered wonderfully to our you g kids who had a great meal and were able to then play in the garden and playground while we lingered over coffee and more wine. A lovely lunchtime experience.
Fantastic place for a long lunch. You never feel rushed. The food is fantastic and the service compliments it all.
Absolutely delicious! Thanks for the wonderful service, such a lovely day to spend your birthday!
Have been several times and this time was a bit blah. The food was fine, the service was fine, but nothing was really great. The pork cheek and hock terrine was tasty but was crying out for a decent hit of acid - not the fresh prosciutto that just seemed out of place (was lovely prosciutto but pig on pig wasnt necessary).
The fish dish was again fine, but the fish had been cut into two tiny fillets - so was overcooked and tough.
Disappointed and can't see them retaining the one hat.
