Brown Brothers Milawa Vineyard
Lovely ambience, good smart staff and excellent food. What's not to like?
Brown Bro’s is always a pleasant experience. We took visiting American friends yesterday, and as usual, the food was excellent, with all commenting positively on the presentation and taste.
Unfortunately, this was offset by very slow service. We found it difficult to gain attention after the main course was ordered, and had to go to the counter to get the bill and pay.
The coffee was not good.
Amazing food and loved sitting out in the garden after our lunch! Super friendly and accommodating staff!
One of the few restaurants that has a private landing strip that lets you fly in for a nice lunch. A great service and an excellent lunch. It’s even worth driving to. I am told the wines are great too. My guests enjoyed it all. Also a stunning vineyard with lovely rose gardens.
A quiet day at the restaurant. Service attentive, food very good and wine prices very reasonable. We would dine there again when in that part of the world.
Great food, wine and atmosphere! Will recommend to friends.
Lovely helpful staff, great spacious dining room serving excellent food.
Beautiful duck and accompaniments. Great position next to window and the table service very friendly. A nice ambience on a beautiful day.
First time we have visited with the new Chef . Food was excellent, service very attentive, lovely location and view over the gardens
Matching wines complemented the food . A wonderful lunch to remember Thank you Brown Brothers
The setting is wonderful, the gardens well maintained. The cellar door is fabulous and staff friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. The casual restaurant is fun, Patricia’s is lovely. It’s a very relaxed and casual setting but offers great service and superb food with wine at cellar door prices. We loved it and best of all it catered wonderfully to our you g kids who had a great meal and were able to then play in the garden and playground while we lingered over coffee and more wine. A lovely lunchtime experience.
Fantastic place for a long lunch. You never feel rushed. The food is fantastic and the service compliments it all.
Absolutely delicious! Thanks for the wonderful service, such a lovely day to spend your birthday!
Have been several times and this time was a bit blah. The food was fine, the service was fine, but nothing was really great. The pork cheek and hock terrine was tasty but was crying out for a decent hit of acid - not the fresh prosciutto that just seemed out of place (was lovely prosciutto but pig on pig wasnt necessary).
The fish dish was again fine, but the fish had been cut into two tiny fillets - so was overcooked and tough.
Disappointed and can't see them retaining the one hat.
Everything was great, only slight issue was main course took a very long time to come, compared to quick entree/dessert.
Small Portions and not consistent as my husband’s fish was smaller than my small serve. Razor prawns hard to find when head removed.
My husband and I can’t stop raving 🙌🏻 Best fine dinning we’ve ever had
Great venue. Food is special, and matched with wines.
Very limited vegetarian menu (1 dish for main). The slow lunch has no vegetarian options. Noisy and uncomfortable moulded chairs. The food was amazing and the service attentive.
We always enjoy visiting Brown Brothers at Milawa. Once again a great afternoon was had by all.
Delicious, carefully thought of clever food, great wines, friendly staff and a stunning setting 🍷❤😊🌳
Beautiful part of Australia showcasing wonderfully interesting wine and food.
The venue is a bit dated, could do with a revamp. The food was nice, but not exceptional.
We’ve been eating at Patricia’s Table at Brown Brothers for years and Saturday’s lunch was one of the best we’ve had there. We had the slow lunch option with matched wines followed by cheese and a lovely tawny port.
The slow lunch is a five course degustation and introduced us to a range of flavours, several of which I would not have chosen had I been selecting dishes from the menu. Portion sizes were excellent - we were feeling mildly peckish by the time our dessert was served and pleasantly replete but not stuffed after the cheese. Each dish was delicious. It is hard to pick a favourite so suffice to say the combination of dishes made for an excellent whole. The wines selected to match the meal were also well paired and delicious, and while we enjoyed seven glasses through the afternoon (this included a Prosecco before the meal), the wine serving sizes were not so large that we felt any more than pleasantly comfortable at the end.
If Saturday’s lunch is indicative of the servings on offer under Brown Brothers’ new chef then I can highly recommend Patricia’s Table as a perfect place for a relaxed and enjoyable lunch. I would allow a good two to three hours for your visit - you won’t be disappointed that you did. I’ll certainly be going back for more.
Yes!!! The food was amazing, wait staff were fabulous and explained everything and were very helpful with my husbands food allergies, everything was delicious and the staff at the cellar door for wine tasting were very helpful also! We will definitely be back!
There are a few five star things to do in life. Flying from Melbourne to the Brown Brothers private airstrip with a few friends to enjoy lunch at the restaurant is one of them. Great food, matching wines for those who can (not the pilot) terrific service and lovely atmosphere in a cosy yet spacious restaurant looking out over the gardens. Wine tasting and more. Makes for a memorable event.
If you can’t fly in drive and stay overnight you won’t be disappointed.
A very pleasant lunch with daughter and grandson from Perth. Always enjoy the beautiful garden and surrounds. Meal and wines very much enjoyed
The food was magnificent for my first winery experience, was instantly wanting more! Beautiful food, and great friendly staff!
Overall food was very good quality but the prices are comparable to Melbourne restaurants- which surprised me. I understand there would be very high overhead charges - my husband attended a pruning seminar hence our being in the area. We ordered main and cheese - thought that was a two course meal for $65 per head. Paid and left - 3 hour drive home - whn I looked at receipt we had been charged individually- $24 extra! Not impressed.
Unfortunately our visit on this occasion was a complete let down. The staff were rude on the phone, the cellar door makes you feel like a number, the restaurant is dated and the food mediocre. All in all, a very lacklustre visit to what we hoped would be a lovely luncheon. Recommend visiting some of the lovely smaller wineries in the area instead.
Meal and wine were very good however comfort level was poor due to uncomfortable chairs and the room was cold around the legs
We are regulars at Brown brothers Epicurean centre, the food and service are consistently excellent, and the garden setting is a real treat. Highly recommended.
Amazing food, lovely waitress good value and appreciated the time between courses. A relaxing and enjoyable lunch. Highly recommended !
Loved the experience overall. Food was fabulous, outstanding service, amazing wine. It was awesome.
We had a very pleasant dining experience! Thank you!
Excellent food with a very pleasant garden outlook. Wine at cellar door prices makes for very good value, especially as the quality & range of matched wines have improved lately - good to see the excellent Tasmanian Riesling, even better if a Pinot noir was also there.
Can be very noisy if large numbers present.
We really enjoyed our afternoon food and wine was fantastic thank you for a wonderful experience we will be back for sure
We booked the Brown Brothers restaurant for our 13 year anniversary and it was a great experience. The food was amazing and the staff were excellent. Can't wait to go back. 👏😊
Enticing menu, friendly staff, well timed serving of courses and did not feel rushed.
If you are ever in Milawa you simply MUST visit Brown Brothers and delight in the 'amazingness' of the restaurant. The meal will not disappoint. The service staff are exceptional. The wines are excellent. I have been to the restaurant many times and will keep going back. It never disappoints.
Great start to our weekend away. Food is always good and staff look after you.
