The food was good but the service was lackluster. The waitress went missing for a while and we were waiting for our check and a box.
The Churro dessert was unbelievable. Highly recommend it!
It was not a "bad" experience, but it was disappointing. On a Saturday night in Oak Brook, we were surprised that there were so few people there. Bonus with that, however, is that it wasn't too noisy to have a conversation. Unfortunately, even with dozens of open seats, they put us at a tiny, really uncomfortable table right next to another couple. With people to our right and a huge column to our left, the servers had a hard time serving, and there was barely enough room for our order on the table. I guess I can understand the "clean, modern look" they are seeking, but the hard benches and chairs are awful. Guess they don't want you hanging around too long. And a wall lined with several glaring/flashing video poker machines that no one is interested in is just a waste of space. All that being said, the servers were friendly and attentive and the food we ordered was very good. The mushroom soup was incredible and beef egg rolls were a nice change of pace from the ordinary. The Cobb salad was good, but goat cheese and vinaigrette don't come close to good bleu cheese in my book. The menu has quite a few wonderful dishes, but the inclusion of pork belly to so many of them was a complete turn off. Why would anyone want a slab of soft fat added to anything? With so many great restaurants in the area, we'll probably select another one next time.
Good food, at tentative wait staff. Would go there again.
The atmosphere was very plain and modern. The drinks and bar bites were expensive for the amount of food you got. We were practically the only ones there other than a few customers that sat at the bar for drinks. We were there about 2.5 hours.
2 of us split the Burrata appetizer, and then each had 2 of the specials for the night, $3 skirt steak tacos. Excellent, and a really good deal! It was also 1/2 off bottles of wine. We sat outside in the patio area, it was a beautiful night. We will be back!
Food was good, sat outdoors the guy singing was annoying couldn’t wait until he took a break.
This was our first time there, a group of 7 of us. Had appetizers and desserts and drinks. EVERYTHING was just fantastic...we all wanted to go back the next day it was that good.
Fantastic food and drinks. You will not be disappointed!! A hidden gem that is absolutely worth it.
Excellent food, attentive service, good value.
Great happy hour deals, great service and delicious sandwiches!
Great server and the food was excellent!! And even though we sat in the bar area, my 80 year old Mother was able to hear and participate in the conversation :)
We ate here Sunday night. I have very mixed feelings. We had not been before, and tried it because they offered a better dollar value for Opentable rewards. It's still fairly new, trying to attract business I assume. When we arrived, there were a couple people in the bar and one other table on the patio with us, no one inside. No one else came while we were there, so you kind of wonder what's the problem. The menu is interesting and well priced. We started with the pierogies and enjoyed them. Then we each ordered the Cubano. It was quite good, except I don't understand the attraction of pork belly these days. Just was a piece of fat in the middle of an otherwise tasty sandwich. The menu didn't state if sandwiches came with a side, so I asked the server. He listed 3 potato options or slaw, and said you can substitute other sides too. Did NOT say there was an upcharge. The prices of all sides were listed and I chose one that was the same price. So when we got the bill and there was a $3 charge for $6 cheddar grits, I was not happy. The server did have it removed from the bill, which I didn't ask for, but he knew I wasn't happy. With an empty restaurant I don't know why you would charge to scoop out some already made grits, rather than fry up a new batch of fries. I gave him my $20 rewards card and my credit card. And the bill came back with $15 deducted for the rewards. So I went looking for the server, who had been hard to find the whole time - what was he doing with only one other table? Another person adjusted the bill, but the whole hassle turned me off. Along with the empty restaurant. Just a block south the parking lot was crowded at another newer place, so it isn't like it was a night no one was out.
Brooks is an amazing restaurant with great food and nice ambiance! We especially like the patio and have enjoyed our Sunday brunches with the Bloody Mary bar. Very kid-friendly and well-priced.
First time here and we loved it! We ate outside on the patio. It was a beautiful night and the musician Mikey was an added bonus! Loved the songs he played! Salads and tacos were amazing too! I found this place through gift cards sold at Costco-how did I not know about this place?! They said they opened in December. We will be back for sure! I hope they continue the music even when the weather turns colder! We loved it!
First time trying Brooks out. The service was great and our waitress, Jackie, was on top of everything. The only issue was the food. Ordered a NY strip steak medium rare, the first time it came out nearly well done. They immediately took it back and refired another steak, the second one came at the desired temperature but since they had to rush it the fat cap/strip was not rendered so it was very chewy and inedible (I know it may be picky but it is a $30 steak).
My girlfriend got the patty melt - ordered medium, and it came out well done as well. They removed a $5 app from the bill as an apology (which was better than nothing). Overall great staff and service but the food were lacking quality and precision.
The ambiance was great. The drinks and food were amazing. We had the lobster grilled cheese and the creole shrimp grits and everything was bursting with flavor. We would definitely recommend this restaurant!
The food is absolutely delicious! We ordered the risotto, wings, burrata, tuna poké, and fish tacos. Everything was perfect! We will definitely return ASAP!
Love the grass fed burger option and other local sourcing of ingredients and beer. Better than usual bar food, more like a restaurant with a bar. Pierogis were tasty too!
Best burger we've had in a long time. The staff and manager are delightful. Will definitely be back.
Clean beautiful space with incredible fresh food. Staff was very friendly and Knowledgeable
Food and drinks were great! Outdoor seating was nice but chairs were a little uncomfortable at the high top tables.
The seats and table top where we were seated were dirty. No bus boy service, thus it took a long time for the table to be cleaned and menus taken away.
Excellent service from Jackie— glasses never empty, often checked on us. Food was delicious and there was something for everyone on the menu. This place is tucked away behind all the shopping on Butterfield but it’s really worth it to find it and check it out.
One thing was better than the next!
Our server Bill was the best! The food is fantastic as well.
Christian was our server and the service was excellent!
Great service and food!
Fun food, fun atmosphere!!!
Great place to stop for a bite. Interesting eclectic
Menu with a variety to suit different tastes. I think the menu changed from what’s online.
Fabulous atmosphere. Ben W the host/busboy was AMAZING!
Great work dinner, impeccable service and delicious food!
Very good appetizers
Waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu. She was able to steer me between two options - Steak and Soba or Baja Tacos. She mentioned the Steak and Soba was more salty than some people like, but that she likes that flavor profile. I had similar tastes and ordered it. I doesn't find it overly salty but I could taste the soy sauce and understand why she would mention that.
The selection of beer was nice. I ended up ordering a flight of beers. The service was very strong. Our beers were delivered quickly.
The food was delicious. My husband got the Bistro Burger with Truffle Fries. He liked the burger. We both loved that Truffle Fries. The fries were cut in a s-shape which allowed the fry to be crisp but still soft on the inside. I liked the Steak and Soba. I was a bit worried about the Steak being over-cooked due to the color but it was not. It melted in your mouth.
Originally went it because they were having live music on the patio. The music was great, as well as the wine, but the food was terrible. First we ordered the burrata, which was fried and not easy to eat. It was also in a sauce that was way too sweet. We ordered a charcuterie tray which we have done at many other restaurants. The one cheese on the tray we couldn't even tell what it was, it looked like a ball of dough and it tasted 'interesting'. The crackers on the tray were saltines (stale) which I've never seen before. The fish was a smoked trout, which was terrible and the sausage which is normally a thinly sliced salami or prociutto was a summer sausage that appeared to be something from a package like Hilshire Farms. I wouldn't recommend the food.
Very mediocre, especially for the price — little flavor and they were so ready with responses to complaints they must get tons of them. Cool decor and very nice service. Creative menu, poorly executed.
Great time and great food! Thanks for accommodating our large group!!
Only because I'm willing to try it once more. Our service was horrible and parking is a nightmare. Too many good restaurants around to deal with the parking issue.
Felt kind of “cafeteria like”. Service was poor. Left after appetizers.
Great place to gather with friends, family, or even have a date night! Patio tables provide beautiful ambiance and a much quieter atmosphere. We enjoyed a lovely sunset there this past Thursday evening and our waitress, Jordan, steered us towards some fabulous appetizers and menu items. Be sure to try the lamb shank and the poglish!
While I would recommend this restaurant to someone, I did feel it took a long time to receive our food and drinks, especially since the restaurant was not that busy
