4th time here, offered us a lousy table but we were able to change. Food is always consistently good. Maybe don't go for the set menu as it is relatively expensive when compared to choosing your own, and probably too much food. Wine is a great Spanish selection but you need the sommelier and it is quite pricey
Great food, excellent service, very extensive wine list (can be a bit pricey) but overall a fantastic experience, as always.
Tasty food and vibrant atmosphere. Service could be much better. No table etiquette and rushed us (2 hr sitting). Very expensive.
Wont go back but glad to have tried it.
We loved our celebratory lunch. The food was authentically Spanish, creative, fresh and absolutely delicious.
The food here is very good and imaginative. We have been three times . The wine selection is extensive . The only criticism , as in most restaurants is the temperature that the red wine is served. It is served way too warm at about 25 DegC when it should be between 16 and 18 C depending on the varietal. I don't understand why restaurants continue to make this error. Born was no different!
We had a very pleasant day, the sommelier and one waiter were fantastic one other was not. Tasty food and good variety.
Lovely food which is great for sharing. Cocktails were wonderful too.
We had a very pleasant and enjoyable time and the food was very good. Only downside was that we felt a little rushed - the problem with dual seatings
Always great food
Great atmosphere, great food and good service.
The sommelier was particularly fantastic - great recommendations.
Excellent food backed up by great service and a sommelier that knew her wine. Will definitely be back!
We enjoyed a fantastic meal at Born. The food was fantastic! The cheese wrapped in Jsmon, the beef cheek and the cabbage salad were standouts. The wine list, though large, was great for novices like myself. Staff were helpful but seemed slightly over run.
Great meal, drinks and atmosphere!
It was a birthday celebration. Have noted it in the comments/request. Nothing special came from the restaurant, they didn’t even ask us who’s we were celebrating.
I found the dishes to be very expensive for what you get.
Woeful customer service. Disinterested waitstaff who provided no level of customer care.
We had an evening of catching up - some friends I hadn't seen for 3 years - we had fabulous food, great wine and could sit and talk without having to yell at each other. None of us had been to Born by Tapavino before however we will all definitely return - loved it!
Terrible value - seriously overpriced. Would rather spend more money and get better quality or less money for same quality. Don't go!
We had a wonderful night! The somelier was outstanding and added to an enjoyable evening!
Great food and atmosphere but I find the double seating problematic as when you book the earlier table it really feels as though you are rushed to get out so the 2nd table can be seated. More like yum cha than relaxing. Next time we will make a double booking to ensure we have enough time to relax.
Food was great and the waitresses helpful, attentive and friendly. I was a little startled by a chap who decided I'd not taken in the advice to mix the egg yolk into the fried mushrooms quickly enough; he appeared at my table and swiftly took the cutlery and did it for me without hesitating, asking if it was OK that he intervened, or any word of explanation. I'm not sure of local custom in Sydney but I found it rude and patronising and it wasn't even clear who he was as he was wearing different colours from the waitresses and could have been anybody! A slight blemish on what was otherwise a tasty meal and good service.
The steak tartare is particularly good, try it is you get the chance.
We ordered food to share very soon after we arrived. One dish (meat) arrived quite promptly - but only one of us was eating meat. The remaining food took a further 30 minutes to arrive, which meant that one of us was left hanging for food for quite a while. Drinks flowed during this time. Despite asking waiters to check on our order, tables next to us that had arrived well after received their food before us. Somewhat embarrassing, given this was a business lunch where the host gets to eat on a timely basis (for at least one dish) and the guest is left waiting so long. Having been here 2x before, and really enjoyed it, I'll think twice about my 4th visit. The food however, when it arrived, was delicious.
Thank you our waiter was amazing and had an awesome time. Food on point
Overpriced... food rediculuos small....it is tapas not gourmet restaurant 5 stars.
Waitress extremely pushy, dont like to eat under pressure.... i think she was desperate for us to leave even though the booking was for 2 hours... we were there for 1 hour and a bit.
Good overall. Dishes well prepared and portions were good. Noisy environment though so not the place if you want a quiet evening (consider we were there on a Friday though!).
Food and service was great but a bit pricey for what you get.
The waitress was very unfriendly and obviously tired and dying to get out of there.
I recommended Tapavino to friends for a girls night out.
I booked on line and was immediately advised that we had to vacate the table by 8.15pm. There was no indication when booking the reservation otherwise I would have booked elsewhere.
The service was non existent, some food items had sold out before 6.30pm!
I’ve previously enjoyed the original Tapavino restaurant in the CBD but sadly won’t be visiting Born at Barangaroo again .
I organised a work dinner at Tapavino Born for 6 of my work colleagues and myself. I rang the day before to ask if the normal 2 hour seating window could be removed as we planned on being there all night. I was told that it wouldn't be a problem and I confirmed my booking.
Let me first start by saying the food and wine was great, and the wait staff for the most part were very helpful and attentive.
We only ran into an issue when I spoke with the wait staff to remind them of the fact that I had spoken to someone and they said that we could have the table all night. It would appear that what I was told was not conveyed to the wait staff that night and instead of trying to help there initial response was to say that we would have never told you that and that they needed us out before the next table arrived.
Credit to them they were able to move things around although I didn't like being called a liar.
The next issue came when we read the bill and found that we were over and undercharged on the bill for certain items. When we queried the bill they said that they were sure that everything on the bill was 100% correct, even though at the time we had 2 drinks on the table that only 1 had been charged for. Once again credit to them for removing from the bill some of the drinks that they erroneously charged us for.
The last thing that I would like to mention was the numerous times towards that the end of the night that our table was sworn at by I assume the manager.
Just to recap Tapavino Born is a restaurant that does great food and wine and if you only want to go there for a short time then I am sure that everything would be great. They just did not handle our situation very well at all and for that reason I will not be giving them my business again nor would I recommend them to anyone.
A very enjoyable dining experience. Service was excellent. The sommelier was very knowledgeable about Spanish cava. The food was excellent as well. The savory churros were a great idea. My compliments to the chef.
This was my 2nd visit with guests who had not been before. Unfortunately one of our guests being gluten free found the whole experience a bit overwhelming. Firstly, a beer on your menu noted as gluten free - was not labelled so on the bottle and did include barley. Secondly, we did need to ask our waiter several times which meals were gf or not - wouldn't it be simpler to print this on the menu? Please understand as a non gluten free diner I will be back but the pain of our guest having to ask several times re gf - was painful for all including our waiter. Bless him for his patience.
A bit of a disappointment. In fairness the wine and food was v good - apart the burrata that was a little bland - but the service wasn't really up to scratch. It was busy that may have played a part but we just didn't get friendly service. Not really the tapas vibe at all. Shame its got the potential to be great.
Only negative S the outside area is very tight/narrow and we had four men around a table which was cramped.
Great selection and spectacular taste, with attentive and really friendly staff. This is one of those places you identify as one of your all time favorites!!
Had people up from Melbourne we all had a wonderful night thoroughly enjoyed it
Great place to meet with friends. Amazing tapas
The food is incredible and very reasonably priced considering the quality of the food and the setting of the restaurant in the middle of the trendy new Barangaroo area. I've been here twice now for date nights with my boyfriend and we are always blown away with the experience all round. We would highly recommend this for a special date night for two or a celebration with a small group of friends. Expect to enjoy a wide range of delicious Spanish style meats, seafood and tapas over delicious wines!
Born by Tapavino is excellent - relaxing environment, great help with the wine and food suggestions and no one making us feel like we had to leave after a VERY long lunch!
My 2nd time visit and delicious again! The Warm Cow's Milk dish is to die for! Great menu, service, wine and cocktails!
great service matched with amazing food, thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
Good food, beautiful location. The wait staff was inattentive and the place wasn’t busy.
