Amazing food and special nye preparations for a 4 course meal. Perfect blend of traditional Indian with a little fusion and innovation. Service was really good too and outdoor space preparation for cold was too good. Would def recommend dining here.
It was our 25th Wedding Anniversary and even though we had to sit in a tented enclosure because of the virus, Bombay didn't disappoint. We had a wonderful evening!! The service, food and ambience still lived up to the quality that we've come expect vert many years we've been coming here!
Amazing service all around. Greeted with champagne upon arrival as I was celebrating my graduation from college. My dad and I were thoroughly impressed by the food and service.
Great service. Even better ambience. Food always top notch
Bombay Club has an old world charm. The food is presented well, and the menu is well chosen. Some of the curries are not as robust in flavor as one would expect (especially the chicken tikka masala and paneer curry that are tomato based). But others such as the spinach were outstanding.
Service was excellent and the wait staff was very attentive throughout.
As a response to the pandemic, tables are assigned further apart, menus are disposable, everyone is wearing masks and we could see that the tables were being cleaned thoroughly after the guests left.
My wife and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary at The Bombay Club and our experience at the restaurant went way beyond our expectations. Service, Food, and Ambience were fantastic and they really made the evening special for us. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a top notch place to dine.
As it has been for years, The Bombay Club sits at or near the top of my "go to" list in DC. Even in these difficult times, everything was as it has always been -- which in my view is 10/10. The cocktails were distinct and delicious. The Indian dishes are creative and perfectly prepared and served. I had the crab appetizer and the duck entree -- which I haven't had before -- and they were special. The crispy kale, which seems a first cousin to Rasika's famed crispy spinach, was perfect. The kitchen-made chutneys were spot on. The service remains impeccable. The subtle, quasi-colonial decor was relaxing. The impact on attendance because of the virus was palpable, which made the usual quiet murmur more meditative (apart from tasteful classical music in the background). And did I mention the service? Each staff person was outgoing, pleasant, and attentive, but not too much so. 25 years and going strong, and this gem will survive on the merits if people will come and enjoy.
Loved it. Food was great! As was the service!
food portions very small
This was our socially distanced Thanksgiving, and the food was deliciously Thanksgiving-themed. As always, the service abs good quality were top-notch.
Absolutely great experience. Had a very pleasant experience with family on Thanksgiving evening. The ambience is exceptional and the staff is very courteous and very helpful. We as a family enjoyed the dinner and look forward to our next trip to DC.
Great food and service. Specials for Thnksgiv were excellent. Ambience and noise not great where we were first seated (at our request) on the patio, due to some loud fellow diners. Rest. staff very graciously let is move inside.
Hands down, it was an amazing experience. Best part was the service!!!
What a lovely place to dine! Quiet, soothing and soooo elegant. Not only was the food delicious, but the service was superb. The level of gratitude shown by the staff was enormous. We truly felt welcomed, pampered, and quite appreciated, vs ignored. It was a particularly difficult evening for them since the city had closed all the streets around them, in anticipation of protests, and they had several cancellations. We are tenacious so walked a few blocks, and it was well worth it! My only minutely negative comment would be that we like a bit more "heat". Next time I will ask for a spicier meal. Nothing that a few extra chilies couldn't remedy. Otherwise a perfect evening and Deepak the server is a gem!
This restaurant is outstanding. I have eaten at top restaurants in London and Dubai so it takes a lot to impress me. However the food ambience and service were incredible! I will be back soon
Great crispy kale
Horrible horrible service.
Amazing service, food & cocktails! Gotta try their Bombay G&T!
Really good. Highly attentive service.
O, how lovely to go to a restaurant that considers diners before their need to be the hip idea of a venue. Soft ambiance abounds in colors, rugs, tablecloths which create a delightful feeling of comfort. Of course, folks were enjoying the outside dining as well but we opted to be inside where there was plenty of space between tables. Both my husband and I had the Tandoori chicken and the Lemon Cashew Nut Rice. We couldn't have been happier with our selections. All items seem to be a la carte and we were a tad discouraged since we had looked at a menu on line and had come to a decision before arriving only to find that, that menu was no longer used. Why don't restaurants check their sites and update? I wanted a curried Chicken of which their were two available on the online menu but none was available at the restaurant. No excuse for that:( One other point, our wine on ice was so far from our table that we couldn't keep track of how much was still available. Not sure what's up with that. Nonetheless, we will happily return again and ask for the ice bucket to be placed near our table.
Bombay Club is a rare place where food, service and ambiance are equally great. I have never been disappointed after dining there.
Our first time at Bombay Club and we can’t wait to come back again and try more new dishes. Wonderful food and exceptional service.
Sitting inside on a rainy night was comfortable, elegant and safe. Plenty of spacing between customers and appropriate precautions by the staff. As always, the service was smooth and gracious, the food delicious and the setting and music create one of the loveliest dining experiences in DC.
Great ambience and food and service was excellent
We had a lovely lunch outside to celebrate a milestone birthday. The outdoor space was well organized and we felt safe.
Our dinner was amazing! From the Kale appetizer to our entrees, we thoroughly enjoyed the entire meal. I wish I could remember our waiter’s name...he was excellent!
My experience was excellent! The food was delicious and the service was very good. From the interior set-up to the pianist, the ambience was simply amazing. Would definitely recommend.
Sorry to write this, but the food was horrible and the chicken inedible .
So shocked and disappointed .
Andre was so warm and helpful. We had a great time.
Quality was fine, but given the price portions were very small. No rice accompaniment with curries. Ambience seemed very formal to me.
Best Indian cuisine in The District IMO. Authentic and tasty,
Exquisite Indian cuisine in a sophisticated environment with superb service. As a DC local for over 20 years, The Bombay Club is favorite that has lasted the test of time.
Excellent in every way. The food is fantastic. Wonderful attention to detail
Always cheerful greeting and excellent service and food is very good.
Food was great overall. My companions received beer that was barely cool, but a quick word to the bartender remedied that. We had trout and lamb, both of which were delicious. (Actually, we got a second order of the lamb, too, which was better than the first. The first order had been overcooked and was tough.) Our order of naan and chutney was supposed to come before the entrees but did not. When it did arrive, it was tasty.
The service was not up to par, but our waiter had been there only two days and the holiday weekend crowd had the staff stretched to its limits. Even the maître d' and manager were waiting tables. An obnoxiously loud (and obviously intoxicated) group seated behind us made more noise than the rest of the crowd combined. We asked the staff a half-dozen times to say something, but there was not much to be done. Because of all the service issues, I’d hoped that something would be taken off our bill (which did not occur), but we did receive a couple free desserts, which were a nice treat.
The pianist at the baby grand was very good and I enjoyed chatting with him a couple times, including when he came over to our table.
We plan to visit again on a less-busy weekend.
Went for restaurant week. There were two dinner menus that offered a really wide selection of food choices for prix fixe. Everything was well seasoned and beautifully presented. The naan was well made- pillowy was the word that came to mind. Had the duck kebab, fish curry and sticky coffee- date had shrimp roast, lamb chops and crepe brûlée. And cocktails were delicious! I had the Rose drink and the G&T, but will try more next time. everything was well seasoned
I'd like to give the restaurant a Covid "pass," but not one dish was good. The duck kebab turned out to be minced meat (not so indicated on the menu) with no duck flavor -- it could have been any meat -- and not much taste other than spicy. The mango shrimp appetizer was so-so at best, a bit better than the cilantro shrimp entrée, which were large shrimp but very overcooked, dry and not worth eating. The Andhra chicken curry was no better than at any mediocre (and more modestly priced) Indian restaurant. A total disappointment.
Fantastic service, flavorful food, need I say more?
I've always heard great things about Bombay Club and decided to try it out with a couple friends for restaurant week. We were not disappointed. I had the Avocado Sev Puri, Kashmiri Roganjosh (Lamb dish that came with rice and naan), and chocolate sticky toffee pudding. I enjoyed all three choices. The appetizer had a familiar sweetness to it and the lamb was seasoned well and was very tender. The server was very attentive without overdoing it. My friends had the fish tikka and shrimp curry which they enjoyed as well. I'll definitely be back.
Everything was great! Start with the Kale and get the lamb chops
