Boilermaker House is the sister venue to renowned Melbourne CBD speakeasy Eau-de-Vie. With a focus on craft beer, malt whisky and cocktails, this bar has something for everyone. Feeling hungry? The charcuterie and cheese bar is open until 3.00am every night, with larger meal offerings available until late including burgers, steaks and vegetarian dishes.
Group of 9 people for a work Christmas breakup. Booking was at 7pm, arrived early and they managed to accomodate us. By 7:30pm no steak or pork belly or fried chicken so only other option was the burger which was average. Food and bev service super slow. After spending over 1k for dinner I wouldn't go back nor would I recommend it to anyone else.
Very disappointing especially being a whisky Fan!
Ridiculously pricy for below average food and drinks
Great atmosphere and good selection of beers and whiskeys. Service friendly and informed.
Booths are great for catching up with friends so we can actually have a conversation without having to yell. The drinks there are amazing. The staff are super friendly and obliging. The food was great, but I wished I'd ordered something more substantial. We had the meat board, which was amazing but maybe needed some more bread and/or some crackers would help soak up the alcohol a little more.
Absolutely fantastic! Had heard great reviews from friends and we were not disappointed. Was great hearing the history of the food and drink and service was outstanding, could not speak of Boilermaker House more highly.
Great evening, the staff were attentive but not pushy!!
Thank you for helping make my partners birthday such a success!!
We popped in for pre-dinner drinks for my birthday and were not disappointed! Our waiter Patrick was supeen and really knowledgeable about ALL the drinks. We also had great service from one of the female staff but I didn’t manage to get her name. The ploughman splatter was divine and the music outstanding. I would recommend to book a table for four or more people otherwise, the earlier you get there the better. Looking forward to our next visit
Good choice of beer and whiskey. Service was good with a couple of hic ups, one glass of wine forgotten by waiter and chips which were order with mains . They arrived after reminder to staff.
Very mousey but goes with being a popular venue.
Some prices were a bit over the top but a good night out .
We booked a group in for a birthday dinner. The service was not amazing. The girls who waited on our table were lovely and tried their best, however our food came out of the kitchen so sporadically, that we didn't eat together.
I understand that there were staffing issues. Unfortunately this was not good enough for us, particularly when we had a group of 8. When the food did arrive it was excellent. Would we go back again? Maybe for a casual evening with only a few of us. We probably wouldn't recommend it based on our experience, however the food was yummy. With so many places to try in Melbourne it's a shame that our experience was like this - we probably wont have much of a need to head back.
The front of house staff worked hard to try to appease us, but the night didn't do as you'd want for a celebratory event, and put a dampener on our evening.
I had a good time. Although I booked the venue for a birthday celebration and when I asked if I could bring balloons and a cake the person who confirmed my booking say that it was ok without advising anything else. When I was at the venue the waiter told me that helium balloons were not accepted because the candles may cause a fire (which I understood). Then when I was going to plate the cake they told me that they will charge me $5 per person in a group of 18. I talked to the manager who in a rude way agreed to not charge me. Unfortunately, they cut the cake in only 12 pieces which was not enough. All of this was done without consulting. Very uncomfortable situation for a birthday celebration.
Had a great start to the night here with a great atmosphere and awesome staff.
The restaurant did run out of two of the four main courses listed on the menu which was a little disappointing but I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to kick back and relax with friends.
Great place. Waiter was great. Food and drinks amazing.
Love going to the Boilermaker house, Impressive selection of whisky, staff are ready to guide your selection based on your taste so you always end up with an enjoyable drink in your hand.
Boilermaker House is a great place for some quality drinks with friends
Terrible service. Rushed out and couldn't even order the menu item we wanted
Attitude of floor staff left a lot to be desired. Quite patronising and rude.
A potentially good venue, but the whole experience was ruined but some utterly rude waitstaff. A pity, because the bartenders were quite lovely and venue had a good atmosphere, but the way our party was spoken to by the servers was genuinely astonishingly rude. Will not be returning.
Outstanding service. Great decor, with very friendly staff, and an extensive list of drinks and food options. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
Great experience tasting beers and whisky however very expensive.
Love the concept, the whisky was smooth and delicious beer. Our second visit so we brought along friends. On Our first visit the music was a highlight , we loved the blues music. Sadly this time it was not blues and not to our liking. We advised our lovely waiter but he was very casual and unconcerned about our suggestions.
Was a perfect experience for a beer lover heading off on a long-term break from work. Lunch experience (and service) was awesome and greatly under-appreciated. Boilermaker House, for lunch, is a hidden gem!
Beautiful venue, service and those boilermakers -Wow!
Such fabulous staff! I was here for my Hens Night and they were super friendly and attentive. Wilk cone back for sure!
Have been to this bar a few times and its been amazing on all occasions except this time. Since everyone is obsessed with getting a review these days I thought I'd write one. Long story short, had a 9pm booking for 9 people, waited for 10 mins to be seated and eventually just decided to seat ourselves at a table we assumed was ours. Someone finally came to the table to greet us and told us that we would be served shortly. We waited another 10 mins for nobody to arrive so just walked out to find another bar. Got a phone call a few minutes later and told them we were happy to give the table to someone else. Love the bar and service is usually spot on, just wasn't at 9pm on a Saturday and I didn't realise this would be the case. Will be going back again at some stage, prob make sure its an arvo session though next time.
Absolutely fantastic! Thank you, highly reccomend the service, drinks and food.
Great staff and service, limited food options (needed more bar snack items), great whiskey and beer, but limited cocktail amd gluten free options
Thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and service by the friendly and knowledgeable waitstaff. Will be back again for further tasting of their extensive whiskey list.
We met a group of friends for dinner & drinks and had a great time!
Amazing drinks list with good food and excellent atmosphere.
Such a great venue! We booked for a group of 12 for my partners birthday. Great vibe, amazing whiskey & beer list, and for anyone inclined to drink something else, a top shelf selection for them too.
Vegans & vegetarians won’t have much to choose to eat, but still worth going for a drink (and maybe a deep fried pickle on the side)
A great time as always at Boilermaker! Drinks and food are pricy but worthwhile - our group splurged for 'The Spread' which was fantastic, and they adjusted the cheese options to suit our group tastes. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about their selection of whiskies and beers.
Loved the booth seating as were met with friends there. Food great and loved the beer whiskey combinations, which were explained to us.
This place and a great atmosphere and we enjoyed the live music. We'll be back
Enjoyed a variety of cocktails and whiskey in celebration of 70th birthday.
Group had a fabulous time and were astounded by the spectacular bar!
They sort of have it together, but device was average. Good looking customers certainly distracted male staff
Service went missing;kind of wished we had brought a model to get some service
Don't order the $75 meat and cheese board. Definitely not worth your money. Over priced
"The vibing feel of this place was awesome – I definitely would return for drinks. The atmosphere was buzzing. Everyone loved the interior and cocktail menu. Service was alright and friendly, wines were affordable."
We spent seven days in Melbourne city - eating and drinking at various hotspots - and The Boilermaker House was by far the highlight of our trip. They have a fantastic whiskey and cocktail menu accompanied by a selection of delicious cheeses and charcuterie. I will be recommending this place to anyone planning a to visit Melbourne.
Fantastic whisky collection. Look for Josh behind the bar - he made me 3 different cocktails and they were all 10/10.
The food, drinks and service were all excellent, and all our group enjoyed that part of the experience. Our group ranged in age from 20's to 60's and we all found the music volume excessively loud and the choice of music unpleasant, it often seemed more like discordant noise than music. Conversation, let alone quiet conversation was difficult. This is not our first visit to this venue, the previous one was much more agreeable.
The staff were brilliant and really added to the experience.
Ambience is amazing and the drinks are great. But no attention to good service or customer care. Expect to be kicked off your table when your allocated time runs out and for your waiter to be annoyed when taking your order.
Don't book and/or expect anything out of the ordinary. Go there and have a nice cocktail or drink in the bar and move on after that.
