It was our very first time eating at Bodega Underground last night but it was really disappointing. The food quality and quantity/serving didn’t match its price. The soft tacos tasted stale and our mocktails of the day tasted really bad. The ambience looked really cool, but the quality was nowhere near Mexican cuisine. I hope you take on this feedback and utilise it!
So-so food, slow service as we sat at the entrance, took 30 mins to take our order and last dish arrived 30 mins after the others.
The food was so mediocre bordering on terrible Mexican flavors. The service was terrible not because the staff were unfriendly but because they were completely understaffed for so many bookings.
For such a small menu; the restaurant was out of 3 key dishes. Won’t be bothering with this one again when Mejico is far better value for money and possibly cheaper for amazing food and cocktails.
Staff were distracted & inattentive, despite there only being a handful of diners.
Furniture, tables & chairs, was piled up in the corner of the restaurant detracting from the ambiance.
Food selection was limited as items on the food & mescal menu had 'run out'.
Really enjoy Bodega Underground. We had 4 people and chose the feed-me package on the menu. It was perfect, there was plenty of yummy things and enough food to go around. I wish they would have brought out the salad before the some of the hot food, but that is such a minor thing. The wait staff are really great.
Great mezcal cocktails, delicious tacos and general vibes
Terrible service very slow unorganised
Food ordinary only the corn was nice
No heating outside wobbling table
Such a waste of money
The feed me menu was such good value. Great food.
Smelt mouldy and damp.
Too much food in set meal but not enough flavour.
Great food extremely quick service for the pre-theatre menu. All good very tasty and got to try some things on a set menu that I normally wouldn’t order.
We pre-purchased the $45 pre-theatre menu. The food was very basic, ungenerous and, honestly, not very tasty. The menu selection was also unimaginative (baked corn, basket of corn chips with lumped tomato sauce (not salsa!) and avocado, beef brisket taco (one tiny tortilla per person - we asked for more and received one more tiny tortilla each!!!!), one fish taco per person (at least this had some fresh shredded cabbage) and two tiny thin churros per person with caramel (maybe from a can?). Tacos literally had the beef, a side of onion, and a side of chopped herbs. No tomato, lettuce, cheese, salsa, avocado or even sour cream. When we asked for some freshness, we were given a mixture of onions and herbs, with three tiny cubes of tomato. The menu included a mimosa each - not sure if they were mixed fresh or pre-made but they were undrinkable. Unfortunately, the waiters were given no room for variation and were inexperienced with the menu, which is not what you expect on a busy Saturday afternoon. Overall - unhappy and would not recommend.
Bottomless brunch was amazing!!! The service was honestly perfect and everything was delicious!
I really wanted to love this but it just didn’t live up to the hype. Although the food was nice, it was not ‘bottomless’ so for the guys that came it was not enough to feed them. The drinks selection was very limited and not explained to us if anything else was included. Although they tried to consider us by bringing us inside due to weather, our small group got sat at the bar. We came for my boyfriends birthday and so only one person could speak with him. I have done other bottomless brunches for a better price and got a lot more. The venue was pretty cool though.
Best street corn ever. Food was delicious. Fun, good for groups or small tables
Great atmosphere and food. The feed me was well priced for how much food you get!
I have reserved my table for 8:00 am, very well in advance. Came here for second time just to try their Guava prosecco or cocktail and always disappointed. Ordered Mushroom empanadas and that was told only vegan available and eventually they came back saying that is out of the stock as well.
We ordered at 8:00 PM and considering this place is open until 1:00 AM, I assumed I will get what I liked in the menu, however, always disappointed.
Outside dining does not have any heaters or blankets and it was very cold, might need to improve on this for Melbourne winter!!
Highly recommend as a place to go pre-theatre, the team were amazing and really quick to get us in and out in time. Food was fresh and delicious and location great.
Always a good vibe, drinks, food always delicious!
Service was a bit slack then it usually is.
But overall always a good time!
Loved it - cocktails were a bit small for the price though
It was very lovely and nice to have our month anniversary:) the food was delicious
The food was good, and the atmosphere was great. As for the service, this could definitely be improved for some of the staff.
Found a hair in one of the tacos. The staff took it away and brought a new one over. Despite this, it’s still quite off putting.
We cant wait until we visit Melbourne again so we can go again!
Food and drinks are amazing and the staff were absolutely lovely and so accommodating
felt rushed and food kept coming when we hadn't finished the food before and it arrived cold
Nice ambience, food was good. Corn was very tasty. Overall good experience
The food was so delicious and as a coeliac, it was so wonderful to be able to eat everything without worry. It was also so good to have a gluten free beer! Highly recommend!
We had the feed me menu which is mandatory on a Friday night. The dishes were all pretty average, it seemed like they’d been mass produced, which I guess they were.
Delicious GF food paired with awesome drinks. Great staff who knew how to host.
Food highlights; Street Corn, Chicken, & Churros.
Drink of choice Mezcal Margaritas
Service was very friendly and the food came out nice and fast. It's a pretty loud venue though.
Food-poor quality probs left over from night before. Was Anzac Day... but do you have to eat the corn cooked from the night before. Fried Chicken as one of the courses? It was chicken wings !!! Disappointed. Would I eat there again ? No. Would I recommend? No.
The service was rushed. Courses came out too fast. The waitresses were pleasant and friendly. I however, was after good food 🥘
really good food. Love the sweet potato tacos. Also, great Vegan options
It was a great experience from food, ambience, service
Our server was fantastic but the time management of the food for bottomless brunch could be improved. Everyone in the restaurant was sent away with the Churro's in takeaway containers because it ran over time.
We had a wonderful brunch celebrating a birthday. The food was amazing and the service was exemplary! Can’t wait to go back.
Too many waiters walking around doing nothing and only one bar tender. Seated and ordered quickly but took forever to get drinks. Food was dry, towards the end of the fish taco was hard. Very bland, charged extra for hot sauce which is unheard of. No salt on the rim of the margaritas which were $20 a pop and too sweet. Would not recommend.
Thanks for delicious food and lovely service. Passionate staff, so impressive
What really marred the evening for us was not the food or ambience but the attitude of the staff. We were told that we needed to leave straight after finishing our meal as they were busier than they anticipated (at 10.30pm on a Tuesday night), even though there were 4 other empty tables in the venue.
We were told that we were given a 10 minute grace period to finish up our conversation and leave. Absolutely appalling.
Lamb ribs are a must. Fish tacos are real good too.
Good vibes, loud and fun.
