Bobby Van's Grill Times Square
First, the service was horrible. We had a horrible experience at the restaurant. We walked in at around 9:30pm, we didn’t get greeted by the host which we felt very unwelcome. We got seated at a table right next to the coat check and we requested a table change because we wouldn’t want to be liable if anything do go missing. We got seated at a table that was ok, but it was really cold. The server was not very informative with the menu. Everything just seem very unorganized and we expected it to be better because of the restaurant name with their several locations.
Ribeye steak was amazing!! Well seasoned
Excellent customer service. The food was delicious.
Excellent loc for theater dinner, good food and ambience. A level above most bar restaurants in area. Menu has offering for all. More then a steak house.
We went to the restaurant during the restaurant week. We had burrata caprese and Caesar salad for appetizers which were good, but fillet mignon and broiled veal chops were outstanding. Liked a lot their sauce for chops. Two deserts, chocolate mousse and peacan fudge, were also excellent. The hostess, the manager, the chef, and our waiter did a great job to make our meal memorable. Thank you!
Spur of the moment date night reservation that day. We selected from 3 course Restaurant Week menu. Food came quickly. Mushroom soup was delicious, filet mignon perfectly done and flavorful, and chocolate mousse cake just the right finish. Hostess was so warm and accommodating, and we were out in plenty of time to make our show. Will certainly be back.
The service was great, but the food was mediocre. I had a steak salad. It was literally, a few plum tomatoes lettuce and about 6 small slices steak for $32. My friend had the salmon. He said it was mediocre. He didn't finish it all. The French onion soup had no flavor. I actually thought to add salt to my soup! Ultimately it is waaaay overpriced for the quality of food.
You could cut the filet with a spoon! It was delicious!
Had to send back the lamb chop. They did replace. All good just expected a better cut of lamb. Not sure because it was restaurants week. Steak was great!!!
for lunch, Dinner not so much, many choices where each dish is good not just okay
great food steak cut like butter and service was very good as well...
Incredible time square location, great food and staff! Cheesecake to die for!!!
Steak not prepared as ordered; restaurant replaced it.
Bobby Van's Times Square is conveniently located near the Theater District so they cater to the Broadway show crowds with efficient, organized service. Buses, subway stations and Grand Central Terminal are within a short walk and there is outdoor seating on good-weather days. Restaurant Week offers first-time diners to Bobby Van an opportunity the fine fare; we tried the chili-flavored calamari along with our salads and it was uniquely flavorful (a peanut dipping sauce made it even more exotic). The steaks were cooked to perfection. Our server was on-the-money polite and attentive. We were seated on the second level with low lighting and a modern motif; not much in the way of a scenic view when seated indoors.
Very nice, Bobby Van's!
Went for restaurant week. $42 3 course dinner. Filet mignon was tender and delicious. Lentil soup was good but small portion. Desserts were underwhelming. Wine very expensive. That $42 dinner ended up costing $82 after tip and tax. Probably won’t return too soon.
I have eaten at the Bobby Vans on 45th and Park many times, and the food is excellent. I’m sorry to say that the food at this location was barely edible. We sent 2/5 dishes back to the kitchen because we could not eat it.
The waiter was extremely accommodating and kind, but overall the experience was mediocre.
Food was delicious and I am looking forward to visit again.
My veal chop was perfect! An error was made with my companion's meal, and the waitstaff and manager really insisted on making it right.
Main entrees for Restaurant Week were delicious and excellently prepared ! Drink prices were high...asked for house bourbon and that was $22. Wow !!! Drink orders took forever even when we asked again ....we were told the internet was down and credit cards could only be used if all information was written on a piece of paper that would later be put into system ....never heard of that before!!!!
We went for a NYC restaurant week dinner on a Monday night. The filet was excellent and we sat in a room by ourselves. The wait staff was very attentive. Overall a great experience.
Food was good but service was horrible. Was not offered a wine menu. Was given a dessert menu before we even ate our main course. Not what you expect when you are paying so much. Most of the food was good except for the mashed potatoes. Tasted like instant mashed.
We went Restaurant week so we were able
To have the specials. We all ordered the Filets
They were excellent great portions! The service was excellent. We were there early at 4:30pm on Saturday and was not crowded yet. Will definitely go back when in New York City. Excellent location close to Times Square and theaters within walking distance of both. Looking forward to going back next time going to a broadway show!
Food was delicious and perfectly cooked. Ideally located for a pre-theatre meal. We did the restaurant week menu, which was a good value. Reasonable wine-by-the-glass menu, but I didn’t browse the full bar menu to know the extent of their offerings. Service was initially a little slow, but I think they were trying to give us our space instead of pressuring us to order which is also appreciated. Only complaint is the area we were seated in was quite crowded, so conversations were easily overheard, and I felt the need to continually scoot my chair in closer than comfortable to allow customers and waitstaff through.
Solid food, great service
Good food . Great service and location. Great place to sit and talk with old friends
Wonderful evening! Pretheatre restaurant week dinner. Service amazing, table at top of stairs was so private. They even put a candle on my moms dessert! We enjoyed every moment.
Our waiter Eddie Guzman was better then a broadway show and the food was great as well.
Lovely restaurant, front desk especially welcoming. Great food, service and overall a wonderful time
This was a business we were seated in very cramped area. I did request a quiet area when making reservation.
There was a strong fish smell throughout the restaurant. Moving tables didn’t help. After a while, I got used to it. Food was great and service was terrific.
A nice place to visit before the show. Service was excellent and food was above par.
Fantastic wait staff. Food was presented well and Filet Mignon with cracked pepper was pleasing but not exceptional, was swimming in a cream sauce. This way not as I expected. Side dishes are plentiful to share. Recommend the brussel sprouts with bacon.
Awful service! Took 15 mins after seated for server to take our order. Had to always look for him to refill our drinks. Over priced so so food! Host was great though. Will not come back!
The food was very good, service a litlle slow and for the price you pay tables should at least have table cloths for a more formal feel.
Everything would have been great but unfortunately we were seated next to a table with three infants who were crying, screaming at times, and then unleashed by their mothers to run around the dining room. We feel the hostess didn’t use good judgement in seating us. Out of dire frustration we asked our waiter to move us into another dining area and he was very gracious in doing so. The food was fantastic - we had the lamb chops and they were cooked to perfection - also had the wedge salad (the onion rings were a perfect complement - and the French onion soup was delicious. The service was great other than the hostess who should have exercised better judgment. In seating us. High marks to our waiter who couldn’t have been more accommodating. We’ll be back for sure.
Pre-show dining on one of the busiest days of the year! Noted our time constraints to our waiter. Service was exemplary! Never felt rushed but easily made it to show with time to spare. Steaks were perfectly prepared! Salads large and fresh. Wine was perfect. Next time we will allow for a longer dining experience!
We had a great time celebrating during our last night in town. We were able to sit all 7 at one table and it was perfect for
Laughing and sharing stories and food. The food was great and the portions were Texas size. We had a blast and would go again!
It wasn't a bad experience but wasn't outstanding either. The food was mediocre. Steak was well cooked but the sides and other dishes lacked flavor. Service was just ok as well.
It isn't that we didn't enjoy the meal, it just didn't seem like a great value compared to our experience at similar priced steakhouses.
Starting with the maitre de to the waiter and bus boy nobody cared we were there or not. Total indifference accompanied by one of the most disappointing steaks I rate this visit hands down the worst experience of our week in NYC
