Boardwalk Bistro - Wrest Point
With a boardwalk deck extending over the River Derwent, sit in the sheltered alfresco area or inside at a cosy waterside booth. This restaurant is a crowd favourite, catering for a range of dietary requirements, including specialised gluten and dairy free menus.
Satisfy your pizza, burger craving, tackle a pint and parma, or enjoy a light snack option.
Loved it! Had a table of 14 people.. they was quick on the orders, food was great and also excellent value for money! only thing I would recommend is changing the kids menu possibly add a kids pizza to it.. overall excellent dining experience.
Limited menu but the Lamb Shanks and Fish and Chips that we had were cooked and presented well and the meals for other tables looked just as good. Comments from surrounding tables about the food were very positive and the over all experience was very satisfying.
We went to the 10CC Concert and decided to have the Dinner & Show at Pier One Restaurant and Bar.
They have a special show menu at a set price for wine, main and desert.
The waiter staff were very attentive and we had our meals in plenty of time to get seated for the show. Highly recommended.
10CC were great.
Food good and value for money and service was fine once seated. Issue was that although we had booked and arrived on time, we had to wait and it seemed a little chaotic as the reservations and seating were being handled at the same location and the same person that guests who had finished were trying to pay. Resulted in a one staff person trying to manage two tasks - could have been done better.
The food was just pub food quality,
not bad if you are used to poor cuisine.
Otherwise might be better to go to ‘Maccas’.
Excellent service, excellent position from the moment we arrived to the time we left. The staff were all friendly & happy to engage but discreet enough to know when to walk away
Great value. The food and atmosphere was great. I took my daughter there for her birthday. We all had a great time.
We booked late an managed to get a table , food was great very tasty and value, service was ok maybe need bit more attentive to customers we sat for a while to see who we ordered withas wasn’t sure but overall was good and will visit again
Light lunch dishes to suit all tastes served by friendly staff in a quiet, relaxed setting.
We were given a great table overlooking the waterfront. The staff were friendly however they had issues with their systems so everything was done manually. Ordered the steak which was cooked to perfection however the steak knives provided did not cut through the meat!
Tall blond waitress should do away with clunky high heels and lose the rather revealing blouse
I chose the vegetarian option on the menu, roasted beetroot, butternut pumpkin and grilled haloumi salad. I was very disappointed with the presentation and amount of beetroot delivered. The beetroot looked like slivers of black ash, and was not lush and moist as I had expected. I did mention my dis-satisfaction to the waitresses who said they would pass on my thoughts to the head chef.
The location is good, with a view of the Derwent River. However the noise of making the coffee (banging to remove the coffee grounds) was very annoying and distracting as it was almost continuous while we were there.
Great location - sitting outside overlooking the Derwent is just magic. Lunch menu well priced, food was delicious and service friendly.
At first we had to ask for our very off balanced table to be levelled out. The cool air coming from the foyer was quite draughty. My partner's steak was tough and grisly but he refused to complain. I find that when you don't complain, you make the decision not to return, not giving the venue a chance to rectify. My meal was spot on.
We dined here three times over a period of a week as it ticked all the boxes. Carol was our waitress and she was first class. Highly recommended.
We have eaten here before on a number of occasions but always on a weekday evening, where we had always been impressed with both the service and the food. Neither was as good dining on a Saturday evening
Food was fantastic, service could have been a little better.
I have been here 3 times. Food has been very good and excellent value. Every occassion I have been they have been under staffed and the service has as a result been lacking. This is not a reflection on the staff but on the management not providing enough staff during peak times. I found the lunch menu was a bit limited and found it hard to find something I liked and different from what I ordered last time. The setting is fabulous and even better when its warm enough to sit outside.
The salmon was delicious, the pork chop very good as was the lamb shank. We went three nights.
It was my first time and we had a great seating area in the corner with wonderful views of the Derwent River. The waiting staff were exceptionally lovely, the food menu was limited but the options would please many. I had the lamb shank and the mash potato and Jus was so good (one of the best I had)!
I had the Pav and the berries were too tarty for me but everyone is different. Pricing was what we expected not too pricey. We will be returning.
Our Salmon was beautiful, well cooked and great flavours, and service was speedy.
I go quite often but this time the lunch menu was very pub style. Nothing very special. Next time I will check the menu before booking.
Pier one is a good place to eat
A pleasant experience for a group of older citizens - not too noisy and reasonable serving sizes without being too expensive.
A little more attention from the servers? - not offered a dessert menu or more water.
Staff nice but not enough of them, long wait for menu and meals.Haloumi & Beetroot entree had no beetroot at all in it, when we told the server he was unable to offer a solution as was his supervisor? What was that all about, it’s a no brainer, you take the dish away and return with a new entree with beetroot, or you take the charge off the bill. It’s less than a $20 item on your menu but you offend a table of 7 who are part of a bigger conference group of 150 staying at the hotel????
Nice and quiet dining with fantastic views of the distant landscape and water
Nice place, nice food, nice view, should not be taken for granted. The place is very special but must be hard to find for people who don't know Hobart. No real indication, outside or inside, please keep the business running, we don't want to loose this place.
Surprisingly good food. Meat well cooked and plated. A few more veges would be nice
Seconds after arriving, we we’re asked if we were ready to order, a few minutes later asked again.
We then got forgotten about, an didn’t get asked for 10-15 mins
My steak asked for M/R, was M/W
And my partners M/W was W/D.
We didn’t get their meals checked on.
Our empty glasses weren’t cleared, nor were we asked if we wanted more, even though our drinks were clearly empty.
I work in fine dining restaurant myself, I am disappointed with the level of professionalism an customer service
The staff were friendly, professional and attentive. Views from everywhere great.
A group of four went for dinner and the food was superb. All of us were extremely happy with our choices. Staff were attentive to our needs with a very relaxed vibe.
Have been to the Pier many times and always good. However last night Sunday 21st we went for dinner, a group of 7. 3 of us had the porterhouse steak and I have to say it was about the worst steak we have had any where let alone at one of our special places.
I understand a lot depends on the supplier and the kitchen try their best with what they are supplied.
I never usually say anything like this but think it is important for honest feed back.
Terrible
Took 10 minutes for any one to come near us
Ordered 2 white wines , came 10 minutes later glasses straight out dish washer HOT , send back , tipped the wine into cold glasses , oh !
Should have started new , ordered garlic bread and mains , said bread first , both came out together
Ordered salad with main , got COLD is not salad,
Service shocking?..
Went back next nitr for a drink on water only , yers took 15 minutes for service , 7 people in the place ...LOUSY....
Top service, lovely location, big serving, well cooked, highly recommended.
always make Pier One my 1st choice when catching up for lunch with friends and family. never been disappointed.
Great place will go back again when in Hobart
The service was excellent but food was not that great. Two of us had the steak and wife had the squid. My steak was supposed to be medium rare but was medium and daughter's stake was well done instead of medium. Meat was of poor quality i.e. this is pub food at five star price. We travelled all over Tassie and this was the the worst meal during oru 2 week stay.
Unfortunately all 3 diners had the same - Fish. This came out in good time. The fish was reasonably greasy, chips were warm and the salad soggy. Should have had at least one different dish between us to have made a comparison in quality.
my porterhouse steak was rather tough
