One of the best meals and experiences I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Sat at the chef’s table chatting to Nathan about the amazing dishes he creates was a very special experience. The food was incredible. Highly recommmend. One to remember, for sure. Big thanks to Nathan and Paul for such an incredible and very special evening.
Extremely friendly welcoming, outstanding attention to detail with the food, good advice with wine. All round a satisfying night out.
Highly recommend, the meals were impeccable and outstanding service in a relaxed atmosphere.
This was the best food I have ever eaten was delicious
Great food. Flavoursome and unique. Beautiful flavours. Everyone complimented the chef whos new to the restaurant. Lovely setting inside the restaurant and personable staff. Definitely recommend
Excellent innovative degustation menu. Great personalised service. Interesting and thoughtful touches. Expected something good, but we were blown away.
Had a lovely dinner to celebrate by daughter’s birthday. A warm friendly greeting. The food was freshly prepared and delicious and we watched the chefs preparing the food in the open kitchen area. The accompanying wines were lovely with the different courses.
It’s a small restaurant with limited seating, but this made it more personal.
It is expensive, but great for a special occasion.
Could not fault the experience at Blue Wren.
Great venue, great staff and most importantly great food.
Looking forward to the next visit to Mudgee and the Blue Wren.
We couldn’t be happier with our experience. Paul took such good care of us and had great knowledge of the food, wine and region. Chef Nathan prepared a degustation menu that was delicious and interesting. We had a beautiful evening!
We were visiting Mudgee to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary and were very fortunate to get a table at Blue Wren and lucky enough to enjoy their new menu beautifully cooked and presented by 2 new chefs. Our whole dining experience was 10/10
We celebrated our wedding anniversary with a beautiful 5 course degustation. The service we received has 5 star and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We look forward to returning!
1st visit was for Mothers day dinner, service excellent & food outstanding with the duck ice cream and coco steak standouts (it was all standout).
I've since taken my wife for our anniversary and she was delighted with the experience and memorable food quality, we booked a little early at 6pm as we also took our 3yo Son who was also very welcomed
Food was special but very rich and servings are large and filling.
Service from Paul was very attentive through the night and Steve in the kitchen cooked up a storm
Excellent food paired with a good mixture of local and Blue Wren wines
Had a very enjoyable Sunday lunch. good food. fixed menu.. but hey.. worth trying a something different. Friendly staff and Chef, who shared stories with us while we dined at Chefs table - close to the action. We found their #915 Shiraz very enjoyable and not over priced, ( food also good value ) which is sometimes the case when dining out at cellar door venues.
We’d like me to thank Paul and Steve for a wonderful evening. Both personable and professional. The space is wonderful and our experience was one of the best in a long time.
Thanks Blu Wren
I have been living in Mudgee for a while and never heard of this restaurant before. Decided to give it a try with my wife and we were both very pleasantly surprised.
They keep quite small seating and small staff numbers, but give an excellent quality of meal for a good price.
It does not have the profile of the other high level restaurants in Mudgee - but the food is just as good.
My mother, sister, girlfriends and I went to Blue Wren for a lunch to kick off my hens weekend in Mudgee. The location is so beautiful and rustic while still maintaining that luxe feel. Myself and my mum are vegetarian and chef Steve whipped us up our own specialty meals which were amazing! Affordable...flexible...gourmet...it was a wonderful experience watching Steve cook from our table in the open kitchen. Cant wait to go back on my next visit to mudgee
Fantastic and highly recommended. A truly beautiful evening of amazing food and wine. Impeccable service. Would love to go again.
My husband and I were in Mudgee for the weekend and booked Blue Wren on recommendation from a local. The restaurant is well set up and styled industrial chic but is still warm and cozy. The fire was very welcoming on a cold winters night.
The service is great and the personal stories along with each course are a nice touch so are the menu cards which are so elegantly done.
The food is all delicious, the pea and ham soup to die for and the wine was paired very well.
The five course degustation was just brilliant! The food was creative and delicious, and the wines were paired perfectly. A very memorable evening of dining and will return again most definitely!
The degustation along with service was excellent. Will highly recommend a visit to our friends. Loved the nutella mousse!
The tasting menu was outstanding. Steve, the chef and creator of the degustation menu
was knowledgeable, very experienced and entertaining. Best of all he was happy to share some of his culinary secrets and carefully explained how he had put each of the delicious courses together. Highly recommended for a special culinary experience.
Dined at Blue Wren on Saturday and it was a delight! From the car service that picked us up at the hotel to the food and staff the whole night was a standout. The food was delectable and thought through and the matching wines fabulous!
Wonderful experience and scenery. We didn’t realise the lunch menu has no choice (only what’s served for the day) thus had different expectation, no fault of the chef of course. We’re seated at the chef table and he was happy to chat about the technique. The service is very friendly and efficient. It’s doesn’t normally cater for kids, but the chef was happy to cook something simple for my daughter (she’s 7).
Lovely ambience and setting and fantastic service however I would have liked to have had the option to choose how well done my beef medallion was. Also while the duck dish was very interesting and the duck liver ice cream tasty, it did seem a slightly odd combination. Overall though, good food and wine and a really lovely spot for a special occasion.
Great meal, great wine, outstanding service and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves
We had read the Blue Wren was' the place to go' near Mudgee; so we booked a lunch at the Chef's Table on the Saturday. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Steve, the chef, seem to 'warm' to us as he let us into the secrets of his dishes. The food was special and crafted in presentation with a delicious 815 red. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and left with recommendations of where else to visit over the weekend. The Blue Wren is a gem!
5 courses of outstanding textures, colours and flavours that we have not experienced elsewhere. The 1st course of pea mint ham asparagus egg ham hock broth was a delight visually and with it's silky palate it was hard not to lick the bowl. The 2nd course included perfectly cooked (rare) duck breast with a truly unforgettable duck liver ice cream brulee. What a treat! Please sir could we have more? But by the time we completed our gastronomic feast we were well and truly stuffed!!
Congratulations to both Paul and Steve for providing us with a gastronomic experience to remember our trip to Mudgee.
Overall it was a great experience and we really enjoyed every aspect of our Mothers' Day lunch. Thanks to the staff for that!
Had dinner there last Saturday and had absolutely amazing night. The ambience and the set up is stunning! Had the matching wines with the 5 courses meal, which we both really liked.
As to the food - great quality, great combination of flavours. The portions were quite big for a tasting menu though - by the 4th course I was too full, but that is because i was eating all of the other courses as I really loved them!
One thing i could change in the experience is the use of sharper knifes for some of the meals - found it a little hard to cut the duck/pork/beef with a normal table knife, even though they were quite tender.
Would totally recommend for a special occasion or even if you just want to treat yourselves to an amazing fine dining night.
They also offer a convenient well priced car service which comes in handy when you want to enjoy the beautiful wines on offer.
What a fantastic evening we had. The service fron staff was Second to none. The food was incredible. Have already told friends to put the Blue Wren on their to do list when visiting Mudgee.
we went with friends for dinner and found it just perfect! Food was great, atmosphere lovely and we got picked up from our front door in Mudgee. Will defiantly be visiting again.
Thank you for a wonderful evening. The food and restaurant was sensational! Was a lovely dining experience and would highly recommend it. Make sure you arrive at the restaurant hungry - there was so much food we couldn't eat it all! Really was an outstanding experience. They also offer a chaffeur service, wish we had of thought to use it.
Great food and service. We felt well looked after and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Would definitely return.
Such a beautiful and elegant fine dining experience. Karen & Steve were lovely and made everything perfect. Great way to enjoy Mudgee! Will definitely be back.
We absolutely loved our meal at Blue Wren - exciting, interesting and delicious food with fantastic, personal service and all at a reasonable price for fine dining. Would highly recommend!
Amazingly delicious, culinary adventure! Such a lovely spot, lovely people and a very personal touch. Great food and great wine!
Very good atmosphere and the food and service was a huge suprise
Amazing food, great service and delicious local wines.
