Tho with reservations: Bread/rolls arrived to table slightly stale (hard) (seemed like day old rolls to us). Soup arrived barely warm, sent it back to kitchen, when it came back it was delicious! Husband enjoyed the lamb shank, I loved my salad and oysters rockefeller. I hope they get the initial offering of bread figured out...that first plate of 'food' that arrives at your table and says 'welcome' is important....stale bread (or over warmed up too many times) is not the way! We'll try again, and hope for better!
Food took forever to get
There was no one in restaurant was dead on Sunday
And we couldn’t get the seafood tower
Great atmosphere overall - good food and great service
We return every year to Blue Morel for our wedding anniversary dinner. It does not disappoint. The mussels and chorizo appetizer was a fun combination and very tasty!
We went for dinner on January 2nd to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Restaurants are usually empty on this date, and this was not an exception- we practically had the entire dining room for ourselves. Therefore we enjoyed the undivided attention of the staff, who where very friendly and attentive. The food was very good, well prepared and well presented. Overall we had a wonderful evening.
The fixed menu on New Years Eve was horrendous- we felt trapped not being able to order anything off the menu especially as the the choices on the fixed menu ere so limited and really not well thought out at all. ( course 1 - 2 raw items [raw egg or raw beef ] from which to chose one, really? course 2- choice between squid ink taglitelli and a duck soup? Course 3- Choice between braised short rib and fish? how could that ever be worth $119 a person ? plus a forced service charge . ) We chose the early sitting for dinner (the menu was slightly better) and was $75 a person but was pushed back to the second sitting and got stuck with having to pay almost double the price for the meal. on arrival we had to wait at the bar for our table . The braised rib was tough and bland and the fish was dry and overcooked. All in all, the value for money was very poor. The food was over priced and not even up to the standard of a fast food outlet.Very very poor value for money, a waste of $500.00- Nothing tasted appetizing - a complete rip off. The live jazz band added indecipherable noise which detracted from any ambiance that there might have been competing loudly with conversation. Quite frankly a freshly made ham sandwich at home would have been times better. Never again.
Our second visit after a disappointing first one. This time, only mediocre. Delicious oyster appetizers for both of us. Entree was not well balanced. Protein was too fatty. Side was too sweet. No carb on the plate to round it out. They knew it was a special occasion for us. Did not even offer an extra cookie as an acknowledgement— unlike many other places we’ve been to. We won’t go back. And we won’t recommend it to our friends.
It was a great experience, my first family Christmas dinner eating out, the blue morel made this experience memorable and we appreciate the hospitality and professionalism, our waiter took some pictures for us and a woman at the podium danced with my 2 year old son to Christmas music and I thought that was adorable. I will definitely patronize again and tell others of the great experience we had! 🎄🎁
We had a lovely time on Christmas but were disappointed to be charged for half the price for the third member of our party who canceled at the last moment.
Had Christmas Eve dinner there. Was not told it was a pre-fix menu at the time of reservation or confirmation. So cost a lot more for a group of 7 than expected.
Service was awful in the form of an argumentative waiter., bait and switching wines from the wine list to no service at all. The waiter poured the initial glass and never came back to the table and they were not even busy. I had to physically ask him to provide service.
I paid the customary gratuity of 20% as it was included in the bill and did not want to make a scene as I was out with family.
Have been a long time customer of this place, the food is getting worse and so is the service. I think I just had my last visit to this restaurant.
Food was excellent. Service was terrible. After getting drinks & appetizers, entree took over 45 minutes to arrive. Several tables seated after us got their entrees earlier.
One of our favorite go to local restaurants. We celebrated our anniversary and the gave us a free dessert to help us celebrate. Food is always very good, and the cocktail/wine list is fantastic!
Eight of us had a wonderful brunch/lunch on Sunday celebrating grandpa's 76 th birthday. The entire experience was perfect!
We love this place.

First time eating in the dining room. Have previously eaten delicious burgers in the bar. Three in our group and each course was delicious, including the smoky Manhattans and basil vodka lemonade drinks. Clams casino, farm salad, diver scallops, sea bass and lamb Bolognese were all excellent! Shared the chocolate cake which was just okay. Too cold and had a very very strange fruit ice cream which did not compliment the chocolate at all. The waitress was not even sure what it was. I warmed up to the waitress. She was not as polished for this type of restaurant but was friendly. I am definitely looking forward to a next visit.
My husband and I enjoyed dinner a lot. The restaurant is really beautiful. Service was impeccable. We had the crab cakes and the salmon. Very nice portions. We also had the Brussels sprouts and butternut squash sides. Also very nice portions and we took half of each home. We were in the area for business and it was a perfect end to our day.
Wonderful first time dinner. Service was spot on & we enjoyed our entrees. We will most definitely return.
Thanksgiving stale bread and apple strudel dessert. Overly creamed vegetables salad greens limp
Blue Morel is a bit pricey; however, the food is top quality. My cocktail was tasty, yet quite strong, although the "lemonade" that I requested was strangely unavailable. A good restaurant for a significant date - one-year anniversary or something like that.
Absolutely lovely! P
Stick with the seafood options. I ordered the filet medium and it came out well done. My mistake. I can grill a better steak in my backyard.
What a treat! I haven't been to the old Governor Morris Hotel in 40 years and boy was I surprised and impressed. The Westin had redone the insides and the restaurant, Blue Morel, into a magnificent place and I can't wait to go back. The food was fabulous and the menu varied. All four of us found plenty to eat even though we had different food tastes and restrictions. I loved the spicy tuna tartar, even though it wasn't very spicy and my steak was fabulous! We shared the warm chocolate dessert.
Great option for farm to table. Restaurant deserves a better location
We didn't realize that the hotel and restaurant had just opened after being closed for 20 days. This caused the restaurant menu to be a little limited. Having said that, the service and food were very good and it made a nice lunch date for my husband and I . We both had the tuna tartar appetizer which was delicious! My Cobb salad was very good and my husband also enjoyed the fish tacos. We would recommend any of these options. The food here is really good and the presentation is beautiful. We will be back.
We sat in the bar area so we could watch baseball playoff game. So service was not great but understandable since we were in the bar. The hamburger is about one of the best I've tasted in the Morristown area. The crab cakes are amazing here; the best I've had in the area. We loved that there are 1/2 price bottles of wine to choose from on a Friday evening. That is a great feature for sure! It's a very competent restaurant overall and the main dining room is very pretty.
A little skeptical about dining in a hotel restaurant but our misgivings disappeared within moments of sitting down at the table. The tables are spaced generously apart giving you the luxury of privacy and comfort; the waiter was instantly present to help w/chairs, get drink orders and then disappear so we could settle in. Our drinks were great (full bar!) and the menu had a large and diverse selection of entrees. The food was beautifully presented and everything was delicious. I'll be back!!
The food was good, but I don't think the overall experience was worth the price of the food or the fast pacing they put on the table.
This our second time dining at the Blue Morel and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere is very relaxing - it’s a big space, yet it seems seems cozy and it’s very comfortable. The service is top notch - attentive, friendly and professional but never pushy or over bearing. The food is exceptional. I had the best duck I’ve ever had - dry aged with a medley of squash, wild mushroom and Brussel sprouts - absolutely delicious. My husband got the short Bologenses - it was unique with a bit of heat in the sauce - very nice. It’s a perfect destination for celebrating a special night. Highly recommend this dining experience!
Good crab cakes. Server got food order completely wrong. Unsure how entree and appetizer orders could be completely mistaken. Was a business meeting. Since noise level is loud and service was confused , this would not be my first choice for a meeting in the future.
Best Bar Staff great Drinks!
Used to be near the top of my list for fine dining. No longer. Loud. Laptops on tables. Waiter asked me if I wanted a glass with my beer. Service was rushed. Food was just ok. Wine list is good, but is marked-up by more than most. A disappointing 30th Anniversary dinner celebration.
Wonderful food and service! Have dined here before and will do so again.
Food was good, but we were expecting better. The host was wonderful, but our server was not great.
Excellent food! Service was great!
Excellent. Quiet, good hanger steak. Excellent shrimp. House private label wine good value
I eat here often and bring coworkers and customers. The staff, food and overall experience is exceptional. This is NOT a usual hotel restaurant, it truly is a great dining experience. One thing the hotel connection does is offer plenty of parking.
Thanks we had a great time last night as usual , love the new art.
Regretfully, a large private party occuring at the same time that we were dining negatively impacted our experience this evening--as we are frequent guests, we were able to adjust.
This place never disappoints!
Yearly anniversary dinner and service was very nice. Limited menu selection on Sundays but everything was prepared very well. Waiter suggested a dessert cheese option when we didn’t see one for an appetizer which was greatly appreciated.
