Excellent service and food as always. Music is also so fun

I love the Blue Llama! As a retired person with a limited income and a passion for jazz, this place offers high quality music making every day of the week. Not only is the music, whether performed by local musicians or talent from out of town, top notch - the setting makes me feel like I'm in NYC or on a getaway jazz cruise.
Whatever I want to eat or drink while I listen - a glass of wine, a drink and a snack, or a superb meal - I can get it here, delivered by a server who makes me feel like I'm paying a lot more than I am. The "suggested entertainment fee", which allows me to choose to support the musicians and the venue, is a great system. I hope it's working - because I want the Blue Llama to be around for a long time!

Most inventive menu in Ann Arbor

Incredible food and great music - the $60 per person chefs choice was a great value! The waiter said it was a $90 value and it definitely was - they kept bringing plates - four courses and probably 8-10 different dishes - every one was incredible and cooked to perfection

The intimate room is great for listening to jazz performers up close and personal while enjoying dinner.

If they wanted to start the night off here, I would recommend it. Not a good place to sit and chat, however, and the prices make it difficult to justify visiting more than once a month.

Fantastic entertainment nature of the entertainment made it noisy but that was no problem it’s a jazz night club food was very good service was very good our wine was mediocre they could improve their wine selection but on balance is an excellent experience

I made reservations for my husbands birthday on a Wednesday. The staff provided us with a perfect high top table & even made a birthday card (signed by the staff)! Nice touch! We ordered a bottle of Bordeaux & the cheese & charcuterie plate. The plate had tasty selections. The kitchen provided tables with a complimentary mango amuse bouche-again, a nice touch. It’s a gorgeous club with a lively atmosphere- we will return!

The atmosphere, the lighting and the talent at the Blue Llama was spectacular. Our server, Mona, was absolutely lovely and warm and helpful, and the steak was the most delicious meal I’ve ever eaten. If I wasn’t on a date I’d have ordered 2 more! We can’t wait to come back. Thank you for the splendid afternoon.

The Blue LLama is wonderful in every way. It's a beautiful space. The personnel are friendly and
knowledgable. The food is nothing short of spectacular from the grilled octopus to the lamb chops and grilled asparagus to the foie gras with an Asian touch. The music was wonderful. We had friends visiting from Italy, who loved the place as much as we did. We are already planning to go back for the chef's choice menu. Make a reservation and go. It's a terrific addition to the Ann Arbor restaurant/music scene.

If you love creative food and beverages, jazz and being in space to take you other places, the Blue LLama Jazz Club needs to be on your dining/listening destination list. The whole Branzino pairing with the marcona garnished asparagus paired perfectly with the elegant and soulful jazz.

Band had feedback all night. As an audio engineer, this made the show agonizing for me and hard to enjoy. This place has excellent food and service and drinks tho, so that makes up for it. Sound guy needs to buy a $500 feedback Destroyer.

The service was phenomenal! The food was great. But it's expensive. I really liked the ambience. I want to make it a regular chill spot. The jazz music was A-1! They were a very talented quartet. I recommend the Blue Llama for anyone who enjoys good jazz and sophisticated atmosphere. Bring plenty of $$$

Very nice atmosphere. Good music! The menu is too pricey. We didn't eat dinner there, however, had a cheese charcuterie. Two of the cheese weren't that good - like the goat cheese...too gamey...but it's a personal preference...one person's tastes are not like the others.

This place is ON POINT! From great attentive service that wasn’t over-bearing, delicious and creative food and drinks, and not a bad seat in the house to see the main stage - even from the bar. The booked talent was AMAZING and the acoustics are perfect - not too loud, not too quiet and you can enjoy music while still being able to have a conversation. It was our first time and we will definitely be back. Only draw back is the price: the food and drinks were very expensive (not the suggested donation for the band). However, you definitely get what you pay for so it’s worth it. It would be nice if they could add some more “normal” priced items - but I’m sure because some people will “camp out” all night and not rotate a table - that’s why prices are pretty hefty.

Food ( prawns, whitefish,chicken roulade, and desserts) were all wonderful! The jazz started on time and was also enjoyable!

Food was great, the servers were all friendly and helpful. They expect you to stay for the shows, so they don't rush you out the door as soon as you finish eating. Loved it, and will be back!

We visited for brunch and it was amazing! What a great addition to Ann Arbor! Chef Louis Goral did a fantastic job with the menu, both in presentation and taste. We will be back, this time for an evening visit.

Always courteous and friendly. We feel well taken care of and relaxed. The seating is comfortable and the stage is viewed by all. Lighting is provided subdued so you can eat your wonderful meal. Better than New York! The musicians coming here are top notch thanks to Dave Sharp the music director.

I enjoyed the music very much and it was the reason I went to the restaurant, to tell the truth. The prices were a little high and the portions a little small, but the southern style eggs benedict was very good. The bean/rice cakes were nice and crispy and the eggs done just right. An interesting take on the traditional dish. The coffee was also good. My server, Donal, was excellent: very courteous and attentive. The food was a good temperature and was served in a timely manner. The only real complaint I had was that I was not allowed to sit closer to the stage--the reason given was that I was on my own and they were saving the closer tables for bigger groups. I don't know why they can't have a few tables close to the stage for individuals or small groups as well. Why should the size of your group be held against you? Sounds like people who like a crowd are of greater value than those who want to dine with fewer people. That doesn't seem right. Actually, from the point of view of the performers, it might be better to have the big noisy groups further away from the stage while the people who really want to listen to the music get to sit quietly up front.

The live music ended too soon for the late dinner crowd.

Everything is great about Blue Llama except the menu is not friendly to people who do no consume dairy products. I've been several times and have been seated in different areas. All were great for the music. The waiters are excellent. They are attentive without being annoying. The music is always fabulous.

A great place to listen to top level jazz while comfortably eating delicious food.

This was an amazing experience! Highly recommend! We did the 11 course dinner to celebrate a birthday. Can’t wait to go back again.

Tira misu was a sensation as a special and hope to see it permanently added to the dessert menu! Also greatly appreciate the house’s accommodation of additional seats for our party’s reservation!

If you like jazz, the Blue Llama is the newest jazz club in Ann Arbor. The venue is comfortable, somewhat intimate, and the music the night I was there was great. The food was delicious too, although a little on the pricey side. On the other hand, there was no cover or minimum. Instead, the club asks for you to include a donation ($10/person recommended) when you pay your bill. Even with the food prices and making a voluntary donation, the evening was a pretty good value. And the prices for drinks were comparable to those at other good restaurants in town. I'm looking forward to going back.

What a great place. Wonderful feeling there, a chance to hear good jazz again along with some amazing food. 5 stars!

Service was Excellent. Food was Excellent. Entertainment was Excellent. Quite an interesting menu. Was suprised at the price of some of the small bites items.

Cocktails were wonderful!

As always, fabulous food, music and service. As always, more volume from fellow guests who find it necessary to be heard over the music.

Wonderful jazz club with superb food, service, and music!

Went expecting jazz band but instead it was a Mediterranean folk band. The place is beautiful but the prices were so over priced. The portion sizes very tiny and prices huge.

My husband and I were visiting Ann Arbor and heard about this new jazz place. Love the name, the atmosphere and the jazz with no cover charge, but the food was super disappointing! We’ve been to many gourmet restaurants and totally get that the portions tend to be small - trading quantity for creativity, flavor and art. But these portions were ridiculously small, making the dinner more like a scam than a gourmet meal. I’d rather pay a cover charge for the music than still be hungry after paying $120 plus tip for a meal. It’s shared plate style, which we usually love, but again, not the expected size even for sharing. The beets dish was particularly laughable. It was a salad plate of five beet slices that were so thin that when we picked them up with a fork, they scrunched together and fell apart. We could see through them they were so thin. What the hell was that? Why would a restaurant skimp on beets - it was the middle of summer and beets are not expensive. The three other dishes were not as small, but still smaller than the typical share portion, more expensive and not anything special in terms of taste or presentation. We looked around at some of the other tables, and people were having similar reactions to the portion sizes. The table next to us seemed genuinely baffled by their beet dish as we were. The wait staff was great, so we didn’t want to be rude, but I think they were well aware of people’s reactions, maybe that’s why they were being extra attentive, to make up for the food. Go there for the jazz and service, but eat a snack before you go or plan on after-dining at one of the many wonderful Ann Arbor restaurants that offer a much better value.
