Black Bird Bar & Grill, on the riverside of Brisbane's CBD, is renowned for crafting modern Australian cuisine with a dose of global inspiration, served in its relaxing and charming restaurant. The spanner crab on toasted brioche bread with avocado, lime and saffron and the Japanese-style seafood pancake with teriyaki, pickled daikon and lotus root crisps make superb starters. Some of Black Bird Bar & Grill's specialties include the free-range pork roast with caramelized onion and chickpea puree, the herb crusted saddle of lamb with spicy eggplant relish and yogurt and the coal-roasted market fish of the day with seaweed butter and lemon. Vegetarian dishes, like the pan-fried potato gnocchi with fresh cheese curd and the griddled sweetcorn cake with green tomato relish and salted ricotta, are seasoned to perfection.

Black Bird Bar & Grill's white and black forest mousse cake with cherry ice cream makes the perfect dessert.

Lovely like always. Only fault is that we weren't given a wine menu when seated or asked whether or not we wanted to order drinks. Wasn't a problem tho. Still my favourite restaurant in Brisbane!

The staff were very attentive and after asking what the occasion was (anniversary dinner), they beautifully decorated our dessert. Each of the three courses were outstanding and our drinks at the bar beforehand were amazing.

All the items of a fancy bar and grill are "on paper" but the food and service lack heart. The menu and ambience could be brightened up. The seafood platter was underwhelming compared to real seafood platters, steaks are nothing special, sides are cafeteria cooking. Pricey cocktails, poorly made. Servers disappear before your meal is done. The only thing it had was a good wine list. For us who came for the ambience from away, and were wished a wonderful experience, they put us in a corner where the amazing view of the river and bridge were seen only on the way to the washroom; give those to the locals if you want to bring in new business! Overall a bland and disappointing experience that cost us $500.

Very nice bar to have drink while the table is being set up. Very good cocktails.
Once in the restaurent, you have an amazing view.. and the food is very good.
Only issue was the amount of time we waited between snacks/starters/and main

Very pleased overall.
I travel extensively internationally and would have no hesitation with recommending Black Bird as an eating establishment.
If there is any negative it would be that the wine selection is vast. Required viewing time when endeavouring to select a wine and peruse the variety is over 10 min. As a suggestion a smaller selection on one wine menu, that applies to your core menu and then a greater selection when you have a sophisticated diner. Hard to work out who is sophisticated - you can only try.

Quite an interesting layout and ambience with high quality service. The entrees were superb but the main (T-Bone) with the sides (green veggies and potato) were average - nothing out of the ordinary.

If you're looking for great service with a decent steak then look no further. The solid quality on offer obviously appeals to the more onservative clientele: Try the kiln smoked trout - it was yummy😉

Made the booking on OpenTable -- showed up and they said they couldn't find booking because "their OpenTable person leaves at 5pm....? Chose restaurant because they said "good for groups" and they had availability -- but PRIMARY reason was that it had Riverview seating. Instead we were stuck in a stuffy library with a grumpy server. Made it feel like we had made a really poor choice -- at a really expensive restaurant. The starters were amazing....the steak, not so great.

Blackbird used to be my favourite dining place in Brissy, as it presents great food and stunning view. The chewy steak and juicy clair de lune oysters as well as the attending service used to impress me a lot. The attendant at the door has a bubbly outlook and she is gorgeous and welcoming.The goose&duck pate is still delicious. But this time, apparently the attendant at the door does not know how to smile. Plate presentation of steak is disappointing. The meat just laid on a white plain plate, which is boring.

Great food! Service was really good too. Was annoying we had to pay for water, especially since they fill up your water non stop. A heads up on the price and we wouldn't have drunk so much! But overall was a really good evening :)

The restaurant is beautiful and the service is glorious the food is lovely but could be improved the view is amazing overall I would recommend this restaurant but prewarned it’s very noisy.

Had dinner with a friend. We both had and very much enjoyed the kangaroo. Nice wine selection to accompany the menu choices. The staff were warm and friendly and contributed to an overall very nice dining experience. Many other great choices on the menu. Check them out if you are in town.

We really enjoyed our evening at Blackbird. The menu was very exciting - varied, interesting and very on trend and the food did not disappoint, it was delicious. The plates arrived at our table looking very beautiful (10/10 for plating) and all of our meals tasted amazing. Additionally all of our meals were a generous size. We have eaten at quite a number of restaurants in Brisbane and this is now one of my top 5's. Our waiters were also lovely - friendly and helpful.

Had a wonderful evening with family and friends in lovely surrounds with amazing food and delightful wait staff. The steak special - wagyu, was perfect and very reasonably priced. It comes with coleslaw that we all raved over, and we ordered 2 sides, they were both gorgeous (pumpkin and greens). Cocktails and wine were delicious. Generous serves of mains left us with no room for dessert but they sounded excellent. Highly recommended for your next steak meal with views overlooking the river. The bar has gobsmacking views of Storey bridge and should not be missed!

Yum! Beautiful food, great staff and what a view! 7 colleagues had a wonderful celebratory lunch. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Gluten free requirements were catered for. Food was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be coming back and recommending it to our friends.

Staff were fab.. but my waiter disappeared before I finished the meal and no one said.

The steak I chose was beautifully cooked but tasted greasy and was at least 20% fat. The manager tried to explain that a scotch fillet wasn't s scotch fillet in Australia. It was apparently more of a rib eye but not a rib eye.
The starter was bland. Cheese might have well been Coles cream cheese with a strong (not fresh) Serrano ham. I did feed this back but no one checked back with me before finished.
