Tuna Tartare & Beef Fat Fried Potato
- don’t serve any Australian or French beer options
- lighting is a little too dark to appreciate the food. Last time we went in daylight and experience was way better.
- food quality was a little lower then the first time we went. Maybe a different chef.
- waitresses or waiters didn’t sing happy birthday which is a little weird
the food was better than we expected. very good wine list, resulting in a very enjoyable night.
Good was amazing a and all staff was really friendly and helpful
Great ambiance, perfect service, good wine list :)
Was great, good atmosphere and quality food… we will return and tell our friend
Parisian "bistro" food well cooked and presented.
Atmosphere refined without being pretentious. Wait staff attentive and knowledgable about the menu and wine list.
Certainly to revisit for a special occasion.
excellent food and service
lamb brain and scollop ceviche are fantastic starters
the duck frites was sensational
Tasty food with great ambience when seated outdoors (on one of Potts points best streets) but not the best value for the portion sizes. Portion sizes are on the smaller side given the price point and considering there is so much competition in the area for French food.
Delicious food, super warm sitting outside and the service was spot on. The steak frites and all dishes were absolutely delicious.
Beautiful meal, spoiled by being sat right next to the front door on a cold Sydney evening. Booked several weeks ago, so didn’t expect the worse table in the restaurant. Staff should not have been surprised when we declined dessert and asked for the bill. A different table could have made a very different review. The very noise acoustics didn’t add to the whole experience either. When the weather warms up will give them a second chance as the food is good and right price point.
So many stand out dishes, from the escargot pasta to the unique duck frites and even the butter. Plus you genuinely feel like you've been transported to a bistrot in France!
We had the scallops, tuna tartare for starters both really beautiful and bursting with flavour. We have the steak and cut with frites shared and the fish plus the side salad. I couldn’t fault any of it. It was truly delicious. The staff were super friendly and attentive. We finished with the custard and mousse. I’m not usually a dessert fan but sheared among four of us it was fabulous to get a taste. I’m glad I didn’t miss out on tasting these. Overall a warm and wonderful experience
Our first time, although it won't be the last, to experience Bistrot 916. Wonderful to see the restaurant so popular on a Tuesday night with a vibrant crowd and attentive team. The food was delicious, although we had the lobster which did add to the expense of the evening. It would have helped if they had the right utensils to enjoy it to its fullest, although we certainly gave it a good go and had fun in the process. Really enjoyed the pleasant music which was pitched at a level that was enjoyable without competing with the general noise a busy room makes. Loved the vinyl record collection. Overall a really enjoyable evening. Thanks to the team for making it so.
Great all round dining experience. Excellent food, drink and service in an elegant and intimate room.
Outstanding service and food , it was Stella all round
A little piece of Paris in Elizabeth Bay! Great food, excellent service & cosy atmosphere.
Amazing as always
Steak very good. Parfait good. Salad very good. My fish wasn’t great. Rubbery skin I could not cut, perhaps a bad day in the kitchen but at $46 I expected better and rightly so…it’s 2021, Sydney dining at this level should not be a hit and miss experience. Bistro for me is all about straightforward menus done really really well. I wanted this lunch to be great but left disappointed.
Really enjoyed our slow late lunch !
Service was very good.
Duck frites & Steak frites 👍
Food is wonderful - unfortunately the wine list is very disappointing
1 champagne by the glass - below par - there are sooo many luscious champagnes that retail under $70 a bottle (that’s less than $14 a glass), obviously purchased at wholesale, means greater than 100% profit per glass on something full of flavour, rather than the tasteless, flat restaurant choice.
Similarly disappointed with Shiraz offerings - luckily Australia, particularly southern Australia, produces fabulous, full bodied, fruity Shiraz, available at very reasonable prices - these are not represented on the wine list. $118 for a bottle of flat, nondescript Shiraz is distasteful
Great ambience and delicious food all supported by excellant service contributed to delivering a beautiful experience. Authentic French flavours and ambience transported you to a Parisian cafe capping off the overall experience.
Ten minutes before our two hours were up our main waiter turned up. He announced that the maître d had said if we wanted to stay we would have to move to the bar. He then walked off.
This was done in a highly abrupt manner to the point of rudeness. Energetically we received it as being kicked out.
Our time wasn’t even up.
We fought our way out of there and vowed never to return.
That is not the way to treat customers in that situation.
Meanwhile during our meal we had to put up with the loud posturing declamations of a young male two tables up who thought it quite fine to pepper his self important anecdotes with the f bomb as his regular adjective of choice. Loudly for all to hear and appreciate. A performance which the staff did not seem to have a problem with.
The food was exquisite. Every dish had the perfect balance. Will definitely be back for more.
the ambience was great as was the food & service however menu was limited with regard to greens on the side.
Overall the cost was on the high side for both food & wine
Special thanks to our waitress Madeire who was very friendly & attentive to our needs
Fantastic food and service. Great atmosphere - busy and buzzing French bistro. Andy Trinder and his partners are winning in this new adventure. Steak frites cooked to perfection. Thank you. We will be back soon.
just follow your heart, and your stomach. there will be memories, and no regrets.
The bistro was full and we were sat at a table beside the bar and the kitchen. Given I had booked 2 months ago I was disappointed to have such a poor table location. People were continuously moving passed us and we felt cramped.
The wine list is lovely though I was surprised to have my champagne served in the same glass as my husbands red wine.
The mains and entrees were generous and beautifully balanced, wonderful sauces and perfectly cooked duck and beef. We thought the spinach side was over salted.
The chocolate dessert was average while the banana ice cream was lovely.
All up a nice meal but not a great experience.
We had a booking for 5:30 and at 7:12 were told we wouldn’t be able to order another drink. in fact the waiter made it a bit of a drama until offering us a space at the bar (we declined because it was a little awkward). If you tell us we have the table for 2 hours we should not feel pushed. Overall a nice experience just a push waiter that spoiled it overall.
...we could have been in Paris!
What a great place to have a fantastic meal ! Its so refreshing to have a menu with so many what I would call "artisan chef" choices of food.
Its so hard to chose between the starters I think they should consider a tasting menu !
Everything was beautifully presented by lovely engaging service staff and the taste of each dish was outstanding to say the least.
A definite one to keep on your radar for a return to food with flavour in a fun vibe.
I really enjoyed the Tuna tartare and Boudin Nik
A wonderful evening- great food, beautifully presented by attentive and personable staff-
Fabulous French food and ambience to match. We had 2 waiters one of which was experienced and exceptional and the other disinterested. Other than that, it was an absolutely wonderful meal and recommend leaving room for the custard dessert.
Food very good but service missed on a couple of points. I hate having to ask staff for wine I ordered well before the course arrives. Sorted quickly though.
The lambs brains with smoked eel sauce is a winner as is the bread with bottarga butter (can't imagine how the sardines could add more wow to that, and I love sardines! Next time, maybe)
Great food and wine. Bit on the pricey side, but overall lovely venue and experience.
We loved Bistro 916.
Andy and the crew were amazing! The food and vibe was fantastic. Will be back soon.
Definitely order the lobster! It is to die for! The wines are all delicious as well!
Loved the food and service. Seating was a little close together given the price of the food, but overall high quality
Great food, fantastic service, Tuna tartare and coral trout were delicious.
A wonderful lunch reminiscent of the best French bistros we are missing. Only fault was the lack of decaffeinated coffee....
