Bistro Guillaume - Sydney
Wonderful fresh cooking with obviously french techniques .
Team well presented front and back house with high standards.
Look forward to our next visit
The food did not disappoint and it was the highlight of the evening. However, the service from the moment we arrived could not have been more indifferent or unresponsive. Fine dining experiences require good to excellent food and we certainly got that. However, the human touch and interaction was abysmal. My fellow diners all observed and experienced that same (toxic) indifference from the staff. At the beginning, our umbrella was put against a wall near our table and it immediately fell over, and no staff bothered to pick it up during the whole evening. Food and wine advice was parsimoniously given (and it had to be insisted upon) and with no enthusiasm. Staff had no genuine welcoming smiles and attentiveness was in constant short supply. No one in our party was either assisted with their chairs or with their napkins. There was a total and consistent laissez-faire approach during the whole Saturday evening dining experience. And on leaving, we were neither farewelled nor asked how our dining experience was for us. The food was really good, but in the end I don't know why we bothered going to Bistro Guillaume.
Knowledgeable staff, simple yet refined food, great wine list, a real treat. This is a Parisian bistro to be excited about in Sydney.
This restaurant is ideal for a business lunch in Sydney. The food and wine choices are sufficient, the service is good without being great and the ambience is comfortable. There was a feeling that something bigger and better was about to happen, so staff concentration was not in the moment. The trip to the bathroom was through a temporary storage area and it all felt a bit slap-dash. However, I imagine it would be better without the Christmas rush.
Second visit because the first one was so good. The food might be approaching "traditional French" but it is a great mix and every dish I have had has been very good indeed. The service was also good but at just a few times not immediate but it was a busy lunch so you have to take that into account
A lovely restaurant with very high service standards. Typical french style menu and high quality ingredients. Lovely
Whilst it is a great restaurant with the right French bistro feel there is a need to improve service staff. They forgot orders and were not well trained to handle a professional restaurant.
Compared to Felix, there is no good reason to go to Bistro Guillaume.
Amazing night. The food, as always, was exceptional. The duck was tender and moist. The passion fruit souffle was amazing. The faultless food was matched only by the attentive service, yet not in your face service.
Mac and Antoine were both great. Great service.
Very disappointed on the service! Very poor service. We looked for someone for service for 15 mins. Waiter didn’t introduce the today fish . The other waiter who placed order for drink for us didn’t know what beer they had becoz he is new. It’s ok he’s new but please have training before putting him on the floor. The waitress didn’t even know what beer they have as well. Very terrible service on that night ! No one serviced us at all , even paying the bill, we had to walk out the reception to pay for the bill!
Service was excellent. Food arrived in very timely fashion
Went there for an anniversary. The food was great, very authentic French cuisine. I had the twice baked souffle with roquefort sauce which was fantastic, and the pork cutlet for mains. This teamed with some sides was very satisfying and I wanted the dessert but couldn't fit it in , unfortunately. The staff were friendly, attentive and professional. All up the price wasn't bad at all for the quality and also having some drinks with the meal.
If you're after French classics in the city, you couldn't go wrong with Bistro Guillaume.
Wonderful food, I had the snapper with peas and it was superb, while our fellow diners enjoyed each of their meals saying it was one of the best meals they've had in a long time. Excellent wine list and the desert trolley was too good to pass on.. Also the service was excellent. I would most definitely recommend this restaurant.
Food is exceptional, full of flavors, inventive and presented perfectly
great food , excellent service and low noise level , perfect !
A great evening was had by our party, excellent food, with the oysters being a standout dish. Comprehensive wine list with a nice mix of International and Australian wines. Great place happily recommend for a special night out.
Food was really great but the service was lacking.
Great service when the staff were actually at the table but every interaction required me to signal to staff to get them to the table.
The venue doesn’t have the ambience of comparable places and has an an upmarket RSL vibe.
We dined here for my Birthday dinner while on holiday. The food was absolutely delicious and some of the best food we’ve ever eaten.
The steak main was incredible. Onion soup for entree was deeply flavoursome. Just an amazing meal all round.
Amazing quality food
quality has gone down from my prior visits, and should be better for this price point
I loved the tuna entree but the beans were... Unusual. The flavour was sour and lovely but the beans absorbed none of it and the very frozen crunch detracted in my opinion.
I ordered the pasta, which needed salt.
We ordered the cauliflower gratin, again needed salt.
Partner ordered the lamb...and it was AMAZING.
It's very strange that some parts were amazing and others a real miss.
Service was impeccable though and otherwise a lovely evening.
Food was great and portions were generous. Loved their petit four selection. Sommelier was outstanding, best wine pairing I've tasted!
Well above expectations foodwise. Great dessert trolley.
Outstanding quality of traditional French cuisine and good service. Small but delicious wine menu. Hidden away location in sophisticated interior.
This is my second visit and it definitely won't be the last. The is excellent and I also believe it is great value. The service is also fantastic. This is by far the best restaurant I've visited in a long time. Highly recommended.
Excellent meal, kindly accommodating to me as a single diner. Service was crisp, the steak impeccably prepared. Crispy pork belly highly recommended.
Outstanding food and service, would definitely recommend for any special occasion.
Whilst it's not the easiest place to find, I guess you could call it a hidden gem! The food is great and service impeccable, love this place, very different vibe to its sister restaurant in Melbourne
My wife was very disappointed with the Moules Marineres - a very high proportion of the mussel shells were empty!!!!!
Self-confessed Guillaume fans, we have been following him around since Bilsons days and yet again, weren't disappointed. The food was lovely and the service was great (even though they mixed up one of the mains, they were so apologetic and prepared a gratis petit four board). The location was a bit odd (a foyer in a high-rise building) and the ambiance wasn't quite as lovely as Paddington (or the Opera House), but it is a bistro, and i am sure that with a full room, the vibe would be pretty special. The entrees were a huge hit (twice baked souffle to die for and the salad nicoise was amazing), the mains hit the spot (even the wrong one!) and the passionfruit souffle was perfection. Would definitely recommend.
Dishes were all too salty especially for the onion soup and the lamb shoulder. Quite disappointed as that should be their signature French dish.
Absolutely love this restaurant. Have never been disappointed with the food and always look forward to coming here when i'm in sydney
Outstanding food in a friendly and professional atmosphere.
My one observation was that the waiting staff, though keen and attentive, didn't seem to talk to each other so several times we were asked the same question by different waiters/ waitresses.
Didn't spoil it for us though because the food was very good.....
Excellent food especially the mussels, onion soup and twice cooked soufflé, and passion fruit soufflé. The France dessert wine (by the glass) was lovely but not cold enough. Bad (no) ventilation sitting at far right of restaurant (kitchen on our right) and we’re feeling so uncomfortable. Friendly but inattentive service. This is our fourth or fifth time visiting the restaurant; the best cooking but poorest service of all our visits so far.
Took our 12 year old to his first french restaurant for mums 50th birthday. He liked the food so much he ate nearlt half my duck !! Great steak tartare too. Very enjoyable evening. Simon
Immaculate service and food. The staff were very attentive and the food was out of this world. Beautiful for romantic dates, splurging on fine cuisine or just dining with friends. Fabulous!
The food and Service was fantastic. Value for money for the food a little expensive for the wine. All in all it was a great night.
Our main waiter was excellent he was provided 5 star service.
Food and service exceptional. I am Gluten Free and it was great.
