Bistro Guillaume Ratings and Reviews
Excellent...apart from and we did let it be known that it was our 45th wedding anniversary and would have been very nice if we got a complimentary glass of wine....we do come out to celebrate these occasions ..and some places do go that extra step which is lovely ❤️
Bistro Guillaume was recommended to us and we chose well. Originally we had a table booked at 5pm on Saturday evening and at the last minute had to change for a later sitting. We rang and our requirements were met with no hassles. The service was impeccable and the staff very friendly. The dishes were fresh and tasty. We will return.
This was our first time dining at Guillaume and was a special occasion shared with friends. The service was good and the staff helpful, attentive and friendly. The setting was nice and the food excellent. The entrees were very generous, the main meals delicious and the Creme Brûlée was so good.
Thanks to the staff for making this a lovely experience. Not the cheapest but was definitely worth the money spent. Would recommend. Try for table by window with lovely views over the pool area.
A lovely meal to celebrate my wife's birthday, the food was better than we remembered.
The only slight disappointment was the cleanliness, a lot of dust on surfaces and the toilets were in need of a good clean, but this did not interfere with our overall evening.
I have eaten here many times before, but I feel the menu is getting a bit tired now. Time for a change needs to be more seasonal. The charcuterie board is usually to die for but was very ordinary this particular time and meats needed to be colder. No explanation given as to what the meats were, but they were exactly the same as I had last time.
A disappointing visit.
The restaurant it’s self was nice enough but not what I would call fine dining. Place Mat is a paper menu which is less than classy if you ask me. The service was ok, entree was amazing but main was very average on two accountants. Glad I had a promotional offer and wasn’t paying full price.
Fine dining soured by extremely poor service. Seated for 20 minutes before anyone approached us. Entrees were timely and spot on. Mains however arrived 1hr40 into a 2 hour sitting. We overheard next table complaining about the delays with theirs also. Ordered dessert and then was asked to move outside. Politely refused. Finished dinner and left an empty restaurant as next sitting must have been half an hour after our sitting finished. Expected Rockpool quality, but nowhere near the standard
We had a table overlooking the pool. Food was very average when considering the prices charged.
Service was slow and inconsistent. We had to seek out a staff member to take our orders after being seated for 30 + minutes. Improved towards the end of the lunch - most likely because they wanted to clean up (see below)
Whilst we were still seated (around 2:45pm) finishing our coffees and desserts - they started vacuuming the floors. For a supposedly premium restaurant - quite unacceptable.
Nice looking restaurant with decent space between tables and booths. We had a booth 2 of our party found the seats a little low. Service was fairly good without being stellar; the 'French' waitress could use a little less personality and the sommelier quite a bit more. Other than that, service was attentive and professional enough. Food was above average although the entree of Fennel & aubergine tart was not something I' d order again. Sydney and Melbourne are both a lot better.
Food was disappointing. Over cooked soufflé that was like scrambled egg and an over cooked steak that was closer to well done than medium rare. Fine dining prices for an average meal and given it was a quiet night the chefs had time to prepare with more care & attention to detail. Not many patrons in the restaurant yet we were all seated close together so very little privacy and we really didn't want to overhear other patrons conversations.
Next time I would ensure that I have a table booked in the main part of the restaurant. My table location was very average considering how nice the rest of the restaurant was.
To quickly sum up, we did have a lovely view of the pool but it seemed like couples were positioned next to the balcony sliding doors & entrance/exit but if you had 3+ people you went into the actual restaurant where the nice ambiance/decor and furniture was. I’m not a restaurant snob, but our table location was terrible
Just as well we have dined there previously, as on this Occassion, we weren't really impressed with the food at all.
The kingfish was very dry, and the deserts tasted as though they had been prepared much earlier and frozen . (Didn't really have that fresh taste that we have experienced before.
It was really disappointing, and it wasn't very booked out, so it wasn't like it was too busy for the kitchen.
However, the forced time slot of 5:30 pm for dinner didn't really help.
This is a very average restaurant at a high price. We had oysters and escargot for entree and both were below expectations. Chateau briande for the main to share - the meat was beautiful and cooked medium rare just as we asked. The accompanying kepfler potatoes were dry but the side of garlic spinach was superb. The surroundings and service were just ok - we expected more from M. Guillaume. So, disappointing and we won't be back.
As it was our special 35th wedding anniversary, we didn't feel from the staff any special warm greeting, in fact the staff didn't have much personality apart from just being a job. The food was nice but nothing to "wow" about. My husbands pork main course was just warm. I ordered pavlova for dessert but it was a meringue not pavlova.
We just love Bistro Guillaume, we always go there for special occasions and just a really nice night out. The decor, ambience and view of the Crown pool are lovely. We are always happy with the food, wine and service. Go if you have never been it will really be a treat.
