Bistro Guillaume - Crown Melbourne
Totally 11 out of 10 from the staff to the food ,wine ...Melbourne French Gem !
Staff were friendly but a bit lost. They looked like they don’t know what they are doing. They gave me the dishes that I didn’t order, gave someone else my drink. They put me and my partner at the worse table, I had staff bumped into my chair and the table a few times. Worse experience ever
As we never got to eat whilst at this establishment - due to the poor service, I am only limited to stating that the bread was o.k. This establishment had good ratings, but we found their service to be quite rude and all a bit of a rush. We were not told until the last minute that the chef stopped cooking at 10 pm - we had been delayed with our flight and therefore were pushed out the door as we only got in at 9pm
Friendly service and nice menu but need more lighter, salad based starters. Wines by the glass quite expensive.
The restaurant advertises French classics, but we couldn't find any classic French items on the limited menu. We were seated inside and when asked if we could sit at one of the three window tables, were told that these were permanently reserved by the owner. Service was very inattentive.
High quality establishment with very tasty food and attentive service.
We have enjoyed our previous visits to Bistro Guillaume and this one was no different. The service as always was excellent and we love the extensive wine list. The food was great and there was plenty of it. We did not leave hungry!
Overpriced for the quality. I am from French heritage and have had much better food at other establishments. Meat was fatty and inedible. Service was okay. We didn’t receive our bread whilst we watched others around us getting served theirs. Small issue I know but indicative of the small things that matter. Have always wanted to go here, but was disappointed and will likely not return. I don’t like writing negative reviews without bringing it up directly with the venue but they didn’t ask u
Bistro Guillaume is my favourite restaurant in Melbourne and believe me the competition is high.
However there is no better restaurant for us we celebrate all our anniversaries here since it opened.
Our guests from overseas are brought here by us and still talk about there experience when they go back home to Cyprus.
Mr Guiliame is a proud professional who prides himself on exceptional food and service.
He cares how your experience was in a simple message a true professional and gentleman.
Fantastic free flowing Sunday lunch at Bistro G. Love the food, staff, service and champagne. Always a treat to do Sunday lunch here and the twice cooked cheese soufflé is amazing.
We made a reservation more than a week in advance. We were seated next to a busy door. We requested to be moved and were denied, although there were many empty tables.
The food was sensational, seriously delightful both in flavours and presentation.
Most particularly the special tomato entree- the flavours were amazing- a lot of mini explosions of flavour, but I would never have considered that the components would work, but they did!!!
Also, the baby barramundi was outstanding, not to mention the Paris mash and roasted cauliflower- fabulous.
Excellent restaurant. the staff were really attentive and friendly.
Good menu, great wine list, great location.
Lovely tasty and well priced dinner before show at the casino. A shame the greeter sat us at our BOOKED table in a noisy corridor next to a constantly swinging kitchen door and was reluctant to seat us outside when asked. She did seat us across the room in a quiter area but I was disappointed to see several walk-ins get seated at nice tables nearby and our vacated noisy table left empty for the duration of our dinner. Very odd. Our wait persons were terrific and the food very good though.
I probably expected more, briefing to staff occurred after we arrived so it took 25 minutes for our drinks to be made. My wagyu was pretty tough and they didn’t use the gift voucher that we handed over and we got charged full amount (we didn’t check what we were paying on our visa), that was really, really annoying! Probably wouldn’t go back!
Salmon dish was superb as well as the steak cooked to perfection. Desserts were rather special if not somewhat decadent.
Food could have been a French menu instead of a western Australian menu given that it’s French bistro. Only one French thing I could see was créme brulée.
Fish was underdone.
Staffs was great.
Great NYE venue
The service was very disappointing. We ended up cancelling our mains and leaving due to waiting for more than an hour.
Asked to speak to the manager who could not have cared less with our complaint. Very disappointed as we were celebrating a special evening.
Food was less than impressive. In particular the steaks came out less than hot from the grill the bernaise almost solidified and the chips had been out for 10 mins before being served was like eating straw. Had been many times before but with so many options in Melbourne and crown will not go again. Disappointing
Service good. Entree good.
Main’s average. Dessert Average.
Felt ripped off!
This is the third, and last, Christmas night meal we'll have here. The first two were great, this was extremely disappointing. The presentation was terrible, with chunks of meat sitting on a plate without adornment. It was pub food at inflated prices. While my chicken was cooked well, the side vegetables were tough. My husband had two goes at ordering a cocktail, only to be told they didn't have the ingredients.
A lovely evening with enjoyable unsophisticated food and a very pleasant atmosphere and environment.
Great spot but unfortunately no one mentioned the specials and my husbands swordfish was very under cooked my chicken was fantastic
My partner absolutely loves this place and we usually come here every month or every two months as the food and service is always fantastic!
However this time, just the food was fantastic, the service to put it bluntly was absolutely terrible which has never ever been the case. From the start it was going great however once we were sat down for a good 30 minutes we still did not receive any bread at all which we have grown to love, we had to ask our waitress twice for bread and she still did not bring any.
Eventually when we got our starters we asked that waiter if we could have some bread and he brought it instantly... I don’t understand how she forgot to bring it initially but then forgot twice after asking her??
It gets worse as we than waited a good hour and a hit for our food, now I understand it was busy so the wait time is justified however during this period she did not check up on us once, not for another drink not to check if everything was okay literally nothing, once again the male waiter who served us the starters came to the rescue... again.
Now come mains, we initially got someone else’s main. Partner ordered John Dory fish and I got the steak, two steak dishes came to our table and my partner informed the waitress that this isn’t ours.
Usually this would be a small mistake, however the couple behind us came 20-30 minutes after us and had their mains before us?? I don’t understand what happened there.
Lastly we told one of the waiters (not the server that caused all the problems) that we feel the service hasn’t been like it usually is. The waitress then comes over to our table and asks if there is a problem, but not in a nice way essentially going straight to the point.
I calmed the situation down and said we just expected a bit more etc etc but honestly her service compared to the many many times we have had in the past was by far the worst.
Overall we will still come back as this is just a once off, we love the restaurant.
Food was good (we both had steak). Unfortunately, onion soup and escargots were no longer on the regular menu (the latter happened to be on today’s special), which we used to love. We did find the service to be slightly lack of attention to details on this occasion. The waitress asked whether we would like another bottle of sparkling water, poured the remaining into our glasses then took the bottle away with another 100 ml left in it. Then a waiter was about to pour tap water into our glasses.
Such a beautiful place to celebrate my birthday and Christmas with the family. The wait staff were lovely (especially with their French accents) and the food was magnificent. Loved that there were plenty of vegetarian options. I will be back
Only had I bottle of the beer one of our guests wanted.
The noise level was awful......having to raise your voice is not good for conversation.
We didn’t like having so many different staff attending the table and clearly there was poor communication, because more than once they came asking the same questions.
Sunday lunch in the past, was much better.
We enjoyed a lovely meal before going to a show at the Palms Crown. Waiters were efficient and friendly and we were served in plenty of time before the show. My husband loved the complimentary crusty baguette.
Terrible service, with average quality food for this price point. Previously a regular - not any more.
Waitress was abrupt throughout the evening; drinks were slow to arrive - wrong when they did; hairs in dishes; dishes served over diners and when not everyone was sitting at the table, steak was delivered well when medium-rare was ordered. Bill was wrong when it arose, and when we asked for a copy of the receipt, the waitress had already thrown it in the bin.
Food was excellent, as was the waiting staff.
Disappointed that I could not receive the cocktail that I had ordered as they had "run out" of cherry liquer.
Additionally the sauce that came with the steak was incorrect and when the correct one did arrive there was only 1 not 2 even though 2 people had ordered steak. 1 sauce was definitely not enough for 2 people.
good expression of French food . The fish tartare was a little bland but the chicken fantastic as usual
Having visited many times I was looking forward to my dining experience. However I was VERY disappointed. I ordered the Free Range Chicken with Sauce Chasseur and Paris Mash. I have ordered this dish many rimes before and loved it. However the sauce was terrible. Overpowering to be served with the chicken which was nice. The Paris Mash was nice but served in an open bowl so was cold by the time it reached the table. Previously it has been served in a ramekin with a lid to keep warm.
Disappointed on return after a great first visit a couple of years ago.
Meal attendant was very pleasant but incorrect entree delivered and drinks were very slow to come out.
I have been to Bistro Guillaume on a few occasions and the I always enjoy it. The food is tasty and the service is great. I would highly recommend it for casual dining and for special occasions too.
Great service and great food. Would definitely recommend to others. The staff were helpful ensuring we understood the menu and any extra special they had to offer. I will definitely be returning again for a meal on future trips.
the service was almost non existent, 15 minutes just to get a drink of water, wine order muddled, had to ask twice for all drinks, food was hot and tasty, but didn't enjoy the experience
Have eaten at this Restaurant and their Perth location also at Crown on several occasions . We have always thought the Melbourne Crown location was better than Perth, until our last Dinner at Melbourne.
Under Cooked Chicken, not great Service.
Our Waitress, although French, would not speak French to my French wife... Think the Waitres must have been Parisian.. Cause they are arrogant like her also
Food was superb. Waiters were very attentive and explained the menu very well. Great wine list. Would go back every week if I could.
Wonderfully friendly French!! Gorgeous food. Wonderful, attentive staff.
