Bistro Guillaume - Crown Melbourne
Didn’t live up to expectations or price level.
Service was great though.
Been here countless times since it opened almost a decade ago.
Even through management changes it's always remained extremely consistent and continues to exceed expectations!
We love the menu, love the wines and adore spending many a Sunday afternoon here,by the walkway.
All tens from us! Shane & Gisel
Service was really bad very slow food was overpriced
Outstanding service and food.
We enjoy the food and service
Menu is now heavily seafood, Parfait has been deleted form the menu & the one special main they had they had run out of. Duck confit was ordinary - lacked flavour. Lemon tart saved the night.
Wine list extensive but over-priced.
We have eaten there many times before and this time was very disappointing.
I keep going back to Bistro Guillaume. Time and time again. This being Melbourne, there are plenty of places that try to tempt me away. And sometimes I do try elsewhere. And then come back. It is always good in every respect. It is exquisitely French and Professional in very sense. It is also one of the few restaurants I know that have lovely wines by the carafe so that red and white drinkers can be saved the "by the glass or bottle" debate if you're having different plates. Try it once, but be careful: you will want to go back.
Unfortunately our experience was not complimentary. Upon arrival we were asked by 4 staff directly after each other were we ready to order. The restaurant was not fully occupied and we were seated directly next to a table with another couple. The issue was due to only 3 other tables being occupied we could hear everything at the table. This distracted from our special evening. The venue had other available seating which we were not offered. The food was average at best. Disappointed!
The service was perfect
Perfect service quality food and fair value for money
Whilst service was great, the food was way overpriced.
Excellent cheese selection though.
The experience was pleasant but did not blow me away. Won't be fussed to return anytime soon.
Every time we dine here the food is excellent quality and the service friendly and knowledgeable
Excellent food excellent service. Highly recommend
Loved everything about it. However missed desert as there was no soufflé or crepe Suzette which would have finished the evening off perfectly
I used to be a regular at Bistro Guillaume. I have been away for a couple of years and returned to disappointment. The portions are considerably smaller and the quality of the food is just not the same. I asked for my steak on the medium side of medium rare and it came out so rare it wasn't warm in the middle. It was not a busy night. The drinks list is outrageously over-priced. $13.50 for sparkling water and $30.00 for a 'nice' glass of wine.
Disappoint only a relatively small menu and i was looking forward to the souffle only to be told it is not ready yet. No explanations but if i could wait 20minutes it may be ready. We had already been in the restaurant 30mins at this stage
This ruined the night for me but the chateaubriand was beautiful
All in a good piece of meat high price so so service and a lax chef.
Delicious food, expertly cooked
Amazing french inspired Menu and impeccable service.
Right on the Yarra River.
The atmosphere was great and the staff were helpful but not too 'in your face', just as attentive as they needed to be without interrupting. Desserts were out of this world!!
Appetizer ( French onion soup) and dessert (profiteroles) were good but main meals were well below expectation. Confit of duck was a plate of tasteless broad beans with a small over cooked duck drumstick. Swordfish was bland.
Staff were good and listened to our feedback about the main courses.
Over rated, food was just above cafe level, service was ok but nothing exceptional. Very overpriced.
A true French bistro in Melbourne. Wonderful food, excellent and very friendly service and a great setting beside the river
delicious food and excellent service. reasonable price
Probably the best Chateaubriand ever, in a great al fresco atmosphere.
I love Guillaume and eat there frequently. It is real French brasserie food, wine and service. There are always specials worth trying and their wine list has some very good "by the glass" selections. The food here really is very good - and is significantly better than many equivalents in France. Wild claim? No, I have just come back from living there for many years.
the champagne lunch is a fabulous deal - lovely staff, great food.
Menu and food was really good staff was very pleasant.Great atmosphere. Desert Was amazing ,Lemon tart is a must to try!
Was able to mix and match from the Entree menu which meant I could have the delightful heritage tomato dish. The oysters where excellent too but my partner found the Swordfish dish to spicy (hot) which detracted from the beautifully cooked fish somewhat. We perhaps were seated a little close to other guests but otherwise enjoyed the experience immensely.
What a great experience to celebrate my father in-laws birthday. We came after a recommendation from a friend and we were pleasantly surprised. My main dish was Barramundi and it was cooked to perfection, I really enjoyed the flavour of my dish. We were also pleasantly surprised they had kids meals which both my children thoroughly enjoyed one had steak and the other chicken.
What a beautiful experience. Always been on my to do list.
The warm welcome and further assistance from the staff was great. I went with 2 children and it was also a fantastic experience for them. It is important for children to be given the opportunity to experience exceptional service and fine food.
Will be back.
Excellent service and food
I eat here often and it was the first time the service was not good. Everyone can have an off day.
I had hoped for something a little better to be honest. I found it more comparable to a pub style meal than to a reputable restaurant! We had the two steak options, and I didn’t like the meat being pre cut! Also, the bearnaise sauce reminded me of a Knorr packet mix rather than a house made sauce. I felt the staff that served us could have been more knowledgeable about the dishes and which sides were appropriate to accompany the mains we ordered. The staff were extremely friendly though!
Very average bistro food, the like of which you would find in any basic neighbourhood brasserie in London. I can’t believe they have a hat. Nothing wrong with it but nothing great either. Steak frites was served Luke warm. Vegetable side orders are all bizarrely served cold! No vegan options on the menu, when questioned they offered one starter and one main, both of which were clearly after thoughts for the chef. We dined on NYE, nothing seemed to have been done to make the night special for any guests.
The food was absolutely delicious; very attentive and pleasant service. On a sunny day the terrace is most inviting and feels quite intimate.
The overall dining experience was unimpressive compared with previous visits.
My asparagus entree, served with a poached egg on top, was also bland, except for the lovely parmesan garnish.
My Barramundi was over cooked and quite dry on top. It also tasted quite oily. It was swamped by small capers, which were quite tasteless.
My partner enjoyed his terrine entree, but his main course steak had a most peculiar after taste, almost liverish.
Ordered the steak and it came out cold as was the fries. The sauce wasn’t glossy but looked like it had been sitting there for a while. The steak was ordered medium and came out well done. Very disappointed and wouldn’t be back considering it was my birthday lunch.
Never fails to deliver. Special evening overlooking the Yarra with delicious wine and exceptional food. There have been some changes to the menu but this provided a lovely chance to try some new dishes. Only downfall was the inability of our waitress to provide us with the specials.
We have actually been there serval times and I do like the food there. However, my experience for last time is a disaster. The waiter hardly cared about the service and sent us wrong dishes three times. When he sent the wrong dish to us, no apologize, and the other waiter told him off in front of us. I was shocked.
We have been to BG every Christmas Eve for the last 5 years as a family. I was disappointed in the food this year. My John Dory was dry, the two steaks we had were cooked well but not very tender. The mussels were very nice and so was the Barra undi.
