Situated at basement level off Adelaide Street, in the heart of the Brisbane CBD, we serve as a sanctuary away from the hustle of the city where you can sit amongst a vast collection of First Nations Art and Culture, whilst enjoying delicious food, coffee, specialised non-alcoholic beers as well as a selection of boutique reds, whites, sparkles, ciders, and ales.

Our café is nestled in the heart of gallery boasting menus that are influenced by bush tucker and indigenous ingredients. We utilise fresh and native ingredients to deliver modern twists on cultural classics, packed full of unique flavours.

    We found this cafe when searching google maps for a place for lunch. Hidden away downstairs we would never have known it existed. A great find! Lovely atmosphere surrounded by art with great service. My daughter tried native meats but we could also order chicken if not that adventurous.

    We enjoyed this so much! I can't believe it isn't more popular, we just about had the place to ourselves. But the food was great and the service staff were very sweet. And it was happy hour, so we had cheap drinks. Also, the art was great.

    Interesting and artistic venue with fantastic service. The food we had was delicious and if we had more time spare would have gladly explored the gallery more. Will definitely be back again soon!

    We went as a family and everyone loved the food from shared entrees to individual mains. Unique (and for us necessary due to allergies) opportunity to partake in Australian indigenous foods, herbs and spices - delish! There’s also amazing and touching art throughout the restaurant area with stories and visions from the artists. A great 2-fer deal - food and art!! Attentive, friendly and super helpful service too! Well worth it - we’ll be going again for sure - so much left to try and a new exhibition to visit to boot!

    Had a nice relaxed lunch. The staff were able to cater to vegetarian dietary requirements easily and were helpful in taking orders and carrying out requests. Was a pleasant dining environment accompanied by lovely artworks.

    Fantastic food with a spectacular atmosphere. The staff were an absolute delight, very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the art. I will definitely be going back!

    The service and value for money excellent but the website could be updated to show what is included on a tasting platter, $75 & $55 menus, how many are required for the booking etc I needed to send four or five emails to get the information I wanted because it wasn't easily found on the website

    Second time dinning there, and we love it. the setting is fantastic, and the food is good. The staff is friendly but not to the standard we would expect in such beautiful place. The chef did a great job to please us, and we felt blessed by the care he gave to is. "Off menu". We will be back for more.

    Brought a visitor from overseas to have lunch here. It was cold outside, but nice and comfortable in the gallery. Being able to view art while waiting for our meal was a novel experience. We didn't have to wait long. The sweet potato chips and sweet and sour cauliflower were delicious. We thought the emu poppers were a bit tough, but perhaps that's how it is. I would love to return to try other dishes. Thinking of taking my workmates there next.

    Service was quick, helpful and friendly. Loved the chance to look at the amazing art while waiting. Very good seating in a big square for 9 people instead of traditional end to end where you can only talk to the people next to you. My group enjoyed the very different offerings and everyone was delighted with their choice.

    We thoroughly enjoyed our team lunch at Birrunga Cafe - food, service and venue were all fabuous. We're going back to try other menu items as it was so hard to choose and everything was divine - waffle fries, Kangaroo or Tofu Tacos - the list goes on!

    What a lovely evening we had! The space is open and interesting. The art is beautiful and a great compliment to dinner. The staff was welcoming and friendly, the food was fresh and tasty. It was Valentines Day and we could not find a reservation anywhere and found this hidden gem. It was perfect for our business dinner. The attention by the staff was perfect. I will return on my next trip to Brisbane.

    We had a wonderful night here. It is an intimate setting and the perfect place to go when you want to hear your companions talk without having to shout or strain your ears. The food was delicious and waitstaff were attentive. I would love to dine here again.

    The food was excellent and cheap. Our family of 7 had a meal and desert for about $100. They had plenty of gluten free options for my celiac daughter. The gentleman serving us was very friendly and helpful.

    Aman and his staff do a great job in this innovative place - excellent food served to our group of 8 on the four day Meanjin Meander walk. You can view the very moving artworks between bites.

    We thoroughly enjoyed our office Christmas lunch at Birrunga. With the quality of food and service it deserved to be a lot busier. The art hanging on the wall was high quality and added interest to our event. We will certainly be back.

    Birrunga is a hidden gem, and a unique experience, you will not forget. The food is always is fabulous, and the team are so friendly and polite. Being able to eat your meal surrounded by Indigenous art is great experience. Everyone should try it at least once.

    Great food and wonderful service. I had a call confirming my booking the day before and I was called on the day to explain that there was a problem with the kitchen for big orders - this did not bother us at all as we were going for lunch and were planning to order individual meals.
