In partnership with restaurateur Andrew Cibej and colleague David King, the new Billy Kwong is all about celebration, collaboration and community. It will of course have the DNA of Billy Kwong Surry Hills but will also be the very modern model of a meeting place for eating and drinking. Can’t wait to see you ? and feed you ? there!
Dinner: Mon-Thu 5.30pm-10pm, Fri and Sat 5.30pm-11pm, Sun 5.30pm-9pm
We loved our dining experience at Billy Kwong. Every dish was flavoursome and even the chilli didn't bother us! The menu was extensive and we will have to return to try the signature duck dishes. We enjoyed the snapper fillet and prawn dumplings very much!
Disappointing experience and did not live up to the hype.
The restaurant has an air of pretentiousness and is trying to be something it isn't. The food is simply ok and is the equivalent of a reasonable Chinese takeaway.
Well balanced chilli sauce
Nicely stir fried vegetables
Perfectly cooked jasmine rice
Interesting and tasty locally sourced wine
Super sweet tangelo served with the deep fried duck
Snobby wait staff
Flabby duck skin
Over use of 5 spice in the pork steamed buns
Unbelievable tastes and textures
The level of service was off the scale. The devil is in the detail. This place is on fire.
Truly thoughtful sustainable and delightful.
I drove from melbourne i admit i adore Kylies cookbooks. But i did not expect to see her running the show like a goddess🌼.
The dinning experience was beautiful. Thankyou to all at Billy Kwong
Food was lovely however the service was very slow and staff didn't seem interested. it took 30 min to receive each course when we got our dumplings they brought 4 for 3 people and didn't offer to add more we asked for additional dumplings and had to wait another 20 mins the same with the san chow we only got 4 lettuce leaves with a huge bowl of filling and had to ask for more lettuce very disappointing as we were really looking forward to our meal.
Stand out food !!!
Another excellent experience at Billy Kwong's. The food is modern chinese/asian, with local native Australian ingredients, but avoids trendy flourishes that detract from the food: it really works. Only my second time at BK's, only 2 weeks after my first, and it is clearly going to be a regular haunt. Highly recommend.
Excellent food, good to be there in the first sitting as it was quiet and service attentive. Some staff knew more about the food and restaurant than others.
This is one of our favourite restaurants but last night it fell very short. Service was great but food was a little mixed . The starting courses were basically tasteless and one dumping course was $26 dollars for a 4 little dumplings so you expect them to taste wow! But they were just ordinary. Main courses and Duck course were very good but seems everything was the same old same old . Wine list is very small cost is quite high . Bathrooms smelt and had mess on the floors.
Great food and wine as well as fabulous service - even when Kylie's not there.
Great food efficient service relaxed friendly atmosphere. Loved the steamed dumplings.
Went for dinner for my husbands birthday and was disappointed,
the shoved 5 adults in the back corner on a table for 3-4 people facing a ugly wall.
Waiters where back and forth putting drinking glasses on a buffet, that was very annoying.
Felt like we where in the back store room, that table should not be there.
Ambiance was 0.
Food was good, people that came after us got there meals before us.
The waiters looked like they wanted to be in bed sleeping,no personality.
Very disappointed over all.
We enjoyed both the food and service, also very convenient for Hayes Theatre.
service was spot on. food just how i remembered it 10years ago ( we ordered the same dishes) but without having to line up at 545am!
Fantastic food and service. We had the banquet and one of our party had a good allergy, so the brilliant kitchen tailored an altered banquet menu to accommodate our friend.
The wine was unique and tasty and suited the food beautifully.
The food was fantastic and reasonably priced. Will definitely be back :-)
Always enjoy my time at Billy Kwong. Food always impeccable and at a high standard always. Very delicious.
We absolutely loved it. Will dream about the duck and pork buns for years to come.
Please come to Perth!
We had a great night . Recommend by 2 friends. Food was delicious. Service was attentive. Lovely decor. Glad we came .
When I entered, I was immediately greeted by 2 staff/hosts - this restaurant actually cares and thought through about the whole customer experience. Their ingredients were sourced from local communities and were mostly free range and organic - I think that's why their food tastes so delicious. We had the saltbush cakes, prawn dumplings, special crispy duck with blood orange sauce, asparagus dish, snapper and steamed rice. The service was excellent and professional, with the food being memorable!
Meals lacked flavours and was overall a bit bland. I think the reputation of this restaurant is overrrated as the food, for the price paid, was pretty average.
Perfect, as usual.
Our first time at Potts Point venue. More comfortable seating was a relief as Crown Street was terrible. Food was superb, as always.
Food covered the basic Chinese style classics BUT it was done better.
Fresh, beautiful food beyond anything we've ever tasted. 20 out of 10! Amazing service and definitely good value for money. And a gorgeous open, organised and very clean kitchen!
Always exceptional dining at Billy Kwongs.
Delicious food, great service and a wonderful vibrant atmosphere I will definitely return when next I visit Sydney
Just truely loved the whole experience!
Service, food & wine was all amazing.
Beautiful food. All dishes were amazing
From the outstanding food to watching the intricate dance of the open kitchen with Kylie leading with an iron fist the expereince at Billy Kwong was fantastic.
My mother in law was visiting this week from interstate so I suggested we go back to BK for a special family dinner. Unfortunately the experience was far from special. The food was amazing (as always) but the service was terrible. The wait staff were rude, not attentive, they didn't want to be there. Towards the end of the night the staff got changed into casual clothes and ate staff meals at the bar while people were still dining.
I found this restaurant really overrated!
The food was ok but didn't impress me much.
I didn't see anything special! In fact I must say that I've been to other Chinese restaurants that where the food has the same quality if not better.
Was looking so forward to the evening and it did not disappoint
Have been a few times now and each time has been consistently great. Our favourite dish is the XO eggs, a really unique and tasty dish!!
Fantastic service, delicious food with minimal waiting time. Have visited more than 5 times in the span of 8 months and never fail to satisfy!! Highly recommended!
Wonderful food and great service. Was hankering for the mouth watering duck which we have at night - but the lunchtimes specials made up for it not being on the menu. The duck pancake dish was yummy!! Billy Kwong is always a favourite and in fact going back for dinner this week.
The food was wonderful and creative in interpreting Chinese cuisine. The attention to detail on food prep was exemplary. It lived up to my high expectations after seeing Kylie on numerous TV shows. She is one of my food heroes. The feel and quality reminded me of the degustation experience at Stefano's in Mildura recently. Having had Sunday lunch we are now having Monday dinner and wishing we lived closer than 2000k away.
The food is always excellent, although tables a little too close on this occasion. Service and waiter knowledge was excellent and helped us orientate the menu for veggo options. Great service - with great food taste !
The staff detailed the banquet so individuals could select there preference.
Food was ok. The dishes could have been better if there was greater variety in the base sauces; flavor base between dishes was too similar. Deal breaker was that there was no coffee machine- only filtered coffee served. Not sure this restaurant would prosper in Melbourne
