Went here on a whim so there wasn’t really any expectations. Was completely blown away by the style of the restaurant to staffs to the entire menu (or was just hungry) Wanted to try one of everything. Ended up getting (I forgot the name) but it was a fried chicken, eggs and bacon between two half waffles with syrup. Had the Cookie Monster milkshake, all of it was good.
Great place ! Good food, nice ambiance... bring your kids... or not !
The restaurant was crowded, which was to be expected on New Year's Day, but there was no host or hostess in sight to seat people or keep a list of names and who came first, etc. We finally made a server aware that we were present and had a reservation.
Despite confirming reservation was told that we didn’t have a table. After waiting 25mins from when our table was booked we gave up and left. Obviously very short of staff
Great food, fun atmosphere and superb staff
Cute place to take kids for burgers and shakes. I recommend making reservations since it’s always crowded.
Make a reservation. It may cut down on the wait time.
Had the Captain Kangaroo Cookie Craze Milkshake with the Wake and Bake Burger with tots. The rest of the family had The Brady Bunch and the Chicken Lickin Sandy. No complaints, just silence and the occasional laughter because the food was really good. Big props to our waitress, Morgan, who was about to change shifts when we were finishing up, but pushed through to serve a party of six when they made their way to her section.
Excellent night at Big Daddy’s, great shakes and burgers
The food is simple but good, the portions are large, you do get a lot of food for what you're paying for. However, the service is super slow, whether the place is packed or not. The waiter takes forever to take your order and the food takes even longer to be delivered. The place could get a make over cuz it looks a bit dirty. And if you're not getting one of the fancy pancakes, waffles or alike then you're better off going to a regular diner, where you pay much less than 40+ for 2 people breakfast.
Service was HORRENDOUS. Waitress greets us by saying "Know what you want?" That was at 10am. By 10:40am, we still hadn't even received coffee (plain black coffee). Had to go find her and remind her we still hadn't gotten our coffee, to which she said "I know." 10 minutes later, asked again. 5 minutes later, she brought over our three coffees, plopped them in the middle of the table and walked away. My mom stopped her to ask for cream, she said "I'm getting it." We didn't see her again until she brought the check (which we had to find her and ask for). Seriously the WORST service I have ever received.
Food was mediocre. Avocado toast was burned. Service was inattentive. Ambiance and location were in its favor.
Great place to take the kids for old school burgers and shakes. The menu has just about everything a family could want and even cocktails for the adults!
Took a long time for anyone to even come to our table. The service continued to be poor. The food was not great, expected good pancakes, was disappointed.
Great vibe, nice people, and VERY busy so make a reservation!
Just great everything
For the most part, Big Daddy's - Gramercy Park is as good as diner/coffeeshops get.
Amazing experience, food & service. Huge portions so make sure you’re hungry!
Lovely staff and great food, Would go there again!
This was our first and last time at Big Daddy’s. Or party of 4 adults and 3 kids were sat right next to the door on a very busy & cold day. The waitress we had was very abrupt and snarky. 40 minutes after she took our very simple order, we had to hunt her down and make her plug it into the computer. Even after that, our eggs came out cold. Not a fun dining experience.
Service was horrible. Had to get our own cutlery, own ketchup and soda refills. Asked another server if our server was off and she said ‘I’ll check’. Did not ask what she could help us with and she was never seen again. Manager saw me going for refills and he just looked at me like I was nuts. Had to ask hostess for our check. Was an unpleasant experience. Worst part was server knew he was not present but never an apology if he was busy. He will likely think I was rude because his tip was poor
Nostalgic eatery with old diner-like menu and atmosphere. Great menu selection for all and service extraordinary. Definitely, a must-visit experience. If you're around Union Station, then go treat yourself. There are other locations as well!
Très bon restaurant, l’accueil est agréable. Les serveuses ont été adorables et on a bien manger
Horrible service. Felt like I was in a Chuck E Cheese. Took 20 minutes to get a box for food after we paid. Screaming children
The seating area has changed and the menu has changed. The prices are now ridiculous. I was charged 10 dollars for a splash of rum in my milk shake. $10 was the cost of the shake originally.. so that means I was charged $20, yes 20 dollars for a normal sized milkshake that wasn’t even that good. The service was great, our server was very attentive but the prices killed it for us. What normally would have a meal for 3 people and would costs around 60$ came out to 86$ they even charged $2.50 for an extra egg! I’ve been coming to this place for over 6 years and I think this was the last time I will.
The wait staff rushed us through our dinner. They wouldn’t seat us in a quieter section even though I had requested that. They were quite rude
First time there - not sure if our experience was typical for a Saturday evening. We had to wait about 30 minutes for our table (we had a reservation). 5 out of the 7 of us got our meals when the food came out. Our entrees were delivered to the wrong table and those folks enjoyed our meals. We had to wait an extra 30 minutes for our plates. Needless to say the rest of our party had finished their meals. We ordered dessert but they never cleared our dinner plates. We just piled them up in a corner. The food was great though.
Tempted to go back but probably not on a weekend.
We were a party of 6 and ordered very basic off the menu items. About 20 minutes after we ordered, one of the child meals came out and one of the side dishes. It was at that point we were told by the waitress that they were missing either ingredients or whole dishes and were unable to provide them as they were “out“ of them. Our server was very matter-of-fact the whole time and really didn’t do much to try and accommodate anything nor offer apologies for her error in knowing what the kitchen had or didn’t have. It took an additional 20 minutes for the rest of our table to get their food and during that time the food that was brought out was cold. There was no offer to replace anything and we had to ask for replacement. When all was said and done we were billed for the replacement and the item that was to be taken off, as well as for an item that we couldn’t get. The manager did come over and offered some milkshakes for the kids and took a small percentage off of the bill. We were so excited to try this place and were so disappointed that we will never be coming back.
Excellent food, service.. looking forward to come again. I always recommend the restaurant..
I had a very busy morning & made reservation with a friend who love breakfast spots, so I recommended this place. I loved that it wasn’t as crowded because I had a very busy day ahead of me & service was very swift. I ordered my Fruity Peebles pancakes with egg whites & turkey bacon. I couldn’t eat the entire meal because I was so full on the pancakes.
I prefer the uptown location for service and atmosphere. I did enjoy the trivia night though.
To classify this place as a diner is an insult to diners. It firmly belongs in Times Square. The restaurant was nearly empty at 10am on a Sunday, and yet it took 20 minutes for a waiter to come to our table with water and take coffee orders. It took almost 40 minutes to get standard diner fare - burgers and pancakes - and it was impossible to catch anyone's eye to take the check.
The food was mediocre. We didn't like our food. Many items from the menu that was supposed to be included with the meal was missing. Filthy diseased water fell from the Air conditioner in the roof on our food and drinks. The manager was rude, uncaring and unapologetic concerning our experience with the filthy water. I came to the establishment to celebrate my birthday, such a huge disappointment. Overall, a horrible experience. I will never recommend the restaurant to others!
Weekend in the city with the family
Waiter was the worst waiter I have ever had. He was so confused and it took about an hour and a half to get the food after waiting a half hour just to first take our order. Good came out cold and wasn’t worth it at all. Recommend avoiding this place.
We had an 11:45a reservist. Arrived at 11:28a and were told we just made it they were giving our table away. They sat us in the middle row at a 4top next to busing station when there were 4 open booths. We asked to be moved to a booth and were told they wer for 5or more even though they had booths with other parties of 4 or less.
Waited 20 minutes for them to take our order, they brought appetizers with the meals, Turkey Burkett’s was Raw punk and squishy and cold sent it back and was told it would be pink no matter what because it was turkey thigh not breast and by the time manager gave this explanation everyone else at the table was done eating. Waited another 20 minutes for a new burger just to be charged double and they wouldn’t take the turkey burger off the bill even though it was sent back. We were also charged for food we didn’t order. It took an additional 15 minutes to get those items taken off the bill. The manager clearly has no experience in customer service and limited social skills. The wait staff was spinning in circles and seemed clueless as to who was ordering what. My two children spent 30 minutes begging to leave because they were taking to long. DISASTER, not recommending to anyone ever in fact would highly NOT recommend it.
our waitress was really kind and funny
Host was very rude- arrived 10 minutes late for our reservation and he gave our table away and he was not nice about it at all. Usually restaurants give a 15 minute period of waiting time for reservations before giving a table away. He was very rude about it, but did end up giving us a table about 15 minutes later.
