I had 6pm reservations for 8 people. We got there at 5:50 and was seated at 6:50! What was the point of making reservations? One of the members of my party had to leave because she had plans which is why we made reservations. The beer was given warm, hair was found in someone’s food, and my food wasn’t served with everyone else’s! I had to wait to get someone’s attention to ask where my food was! Then the waiter looked at the computer and was like “yea your food was supposed to come out with the rest”.. no kidding! I was very disappointed with the service. I told them that this was for a bachelorette party dinner and we were still seated almost an hour afterwards. No accommodations were made with all of these issues. They really didn’t care.
Went to celebrate my daughters 12th birthday and she loved the UWS Big Daddy's which is now closed. Apparently this location only has awesome milkshakes at certain times during the week which meant her birthday milkshake was just ordinary. The decor and atmosphere wasn't as nostalgic as the UWS either. Even with a reservation, we waited a bit for a table and only got one when because the other party wasn't all there. It wasn't what we had come to love about Big Daddy's.
Pretty nice place, I’d recommend. Considering it was happy hour for shakes, the Mac and cheese was goooooooood
I had a birthday lunch here. The experience couldn't have been better!
Daughters 2nd Bday! Staff was so sweet to us!
Great first experience
It was really fun and delicious :) great menu and the tater tots are amazing!
Great Place ! Great food! Desserts are amazing and overall really nice place. Waiter was great. Definitely recommend
We come to Big Daddy's for many of our family celebrations and the food is always reliably delicious, the service good and friendly, and the ambience is awesome. We usually come for brunch/lunch and enjoy the pancakes, eggs, and shakes. Love the place.
Food was gross and over priced. Was charged for the wrong bill. Waiter was ok but at first he had a attitude. Super loud in a not fun way. But food was what was so disappointing.
Best New York breakfast ever. Food was full of flavour, had great presentation and service was wonderful. Ordered blueberry pancakes and chicken sandwich. Was delicious 🙌🏼
Terrible! Awful service, very slow.
Fun place, great food!!
We had a reservation so we were seated right away. The food took longer than I would have expected to come out and one of the meals was cold when it arrived at the table. Toast was dry and we had to ask for butter. My daughter had the s’more waffles which looked delicious. She said they were very good. The pancakes at another table looked very good. If I went back I would get the pancakes instead of an omelette.
My husband and I have been going to Big Daddy's for sometime now at the Uptown side and this the first time we've been here. I'm not impressed with this one. We waited for like 8 mins before we were seated. There was crumbs on my side the seat and asked if it can be wipes down. The girl gave me a nasty look and didn't even wipe it properly. It took us a min to get our food. The table next to us got their food first and the their food should have taken longer. I was told they didn't have sourdough but ciabatta bread. But when I got my food low and behold I got sourdough! This restaurant is way smaller than the Uptown one. Don't know why but I miss that one. People was such friendlier!!
It was pleasant but the waitress we had wasn’t very attentive to us and she spoke more to my husband and not me, which I didnt like or appreciate.
Nice place for a work breakfast. Our server was very attentive without being distracting.
Good food, cute atmosphere
I love this place but the service is not great. The employees are fine but they have that policy of it seating incomplete parties. I’m sure they think this is for the bottom line but it tells the customer right away that they value profit over service, forcing them to wait by the cold crowded front door. Also, we were a party of two, even if my other person didn’t show up how much less room would I be taking up as a party of one? And I would have ordered more if they sat me when I arrived. It’s an annoying policy.
Service was good, shakes and most of the food was excellent! I made the mistake of trying an egg white omelette, to offset the tater tots (which were yummy). The omelet had no pizzazz, but my friends, who order the French dip, burgers, burritos and sandwiches, all enjoyed their meals.
Service was very nice!
This is one of our kids favorite places for brunch on Sunday, but this visit was a disaster. We waited over an hour for a grilled cheese, a tuna melt and a hot dog with young kids. In the meantime, the rude and miserable manager told us she'd comp us the whole meal, without even apologizing. When I said that I didn't want free food, but prompt service and some sort of apology, she cursed me under her breath saying what the hell else did I want. When the food did finally arrive it was obviously rushed as the cheese in the tuna melt and grilled cheese were not even melted. Not going to rush back, but judging by the number of tourists crowding in, they probably don't care.
Amazing time, i took my niece and we had a blast.
Never a bad time at this place - I have visited Big Daddy's many times and have never had anything but great service and great food. The servers are polite and quick. The menu includes both standard diner throwbacks and modern takes on classic dishes. I highly recommend the Captain Kangaroo Cookie Milkshake - worth every penny. My favorite part of Big Daddy's is the ambiance; classic '50s vibes and neon, '80s retro style mesh perfectly in this colorful and vibrant environment. Can't wait to go back.
Went here on a whim so there wasn’t really any expectations. Was completely blown away by the style of the restaurant to staffs to the entire menu (or was just hungry) Wanted to try one of everything. Ended up getting (I forgot the name) but it was a fried chicken, eggs and bacon between two half waffles with syrup. Had the Cookie Monster milkshake, all of it was good.
Great place ! Good food, nice ambiance... bring your kids... or not !
The restaurant was crowded, which was to be expected on New Year's Day, but there was no host or hostess in sight to seat people or keep a list of names and who came first, etc. We finally made a server aware that we were present and had a reservation.
Despite confirming reservation was told that we didn’t have a table. After waiting 25mins from when our table was booked we gave up and left. Obviously very short of staff
Great food, fun atmosphere and superb staff
Cute place to take kids for burgers and shakes. I recommend making reservations since it’s always crowded.
Make a reservation. It may cut down on the wait time.
Had the Captain Kangaroo Cookie Craze Milkshake with the Wake and Bake Burger with tots. The rest of the family had The Brady Bunch and the Chicken Lickin Sandy. No complaints, just silence and the occasional laughter because the food was really good. Big props to our waitress, Morgan, who was about to change shifts when we were finishing up, but pushed through to serve a party of six when they made their way to her section.
Excellent night at Big Daddy’s, great shakes and burgers
The food is simple but good, the portions are large, you do get a lot of food for what you're paying for. However, the service is super slow, whether the place is packed or not. The waiter takes forever to take your order and the food takes even longer to be delivered. The place could get a make over cuz it looks a bit dirty. And if you're not getting one of the fancy pancakes, waffles or alike then you're better off going to a regular diner, where you pay much less than 40+ for 2 people breakfast.
Service was HORRENDOUS. Waitress greets us by saying "Know what you want?" That was at 10am. By 10:40am, we still hadn't even received coffee (plain black coffee). Had to go find her and remind her we still hadn't gotten our coffee, to which she said "I know." 10 minutes later, asked again. 5 minutes later, she brought over our three coffees, plopped them in the middle of the table and walked away. My mom stopped her to ask for cream, she said "I'm getting it." We didn't see her again until she brought the check (which we had to find her and ask for). Seriously the WORST service I have ever received.
The ambiance is definitely fun and colorful. The walls and ceilings & practically every inch of this place is decorated in old entertainment paraphernalia. There is something interesting to see around every corner. This is good because you will need to pass some time while you wait a long time for your server to to anything. We waiting nearly 49p minutes for a basic order & she never checked I. On ya for water, how our food was, etc. the food wasn’t that good either. Overdone on the flavor to mask the sub-par quality ingredients.
It’s a place to pop into for a coffee just to see & look around. Don’t waste your time or money on a meal.
Food was mediocre. Avocado toast was burned. Service was inattentive. Ambiance and location were in its favor.
Great place to take the kids for old school burgers and shakes. The menu has just about everything a family could want and even cocktails for the adults!
Took a long time for anyone to even come to our table. The service continued to be poor. The food was not great, expected good pancakes, was disappointed.
